The newest mastery update in Sailor Piece completely changed how players improve their weapons, fruits, and fighting styles. Instead of only relying on stats and upgrades, players can now level mastery separately for each spec to gain extra damage, luck, critical bonuses, and powerful passive effects.
Because the buffs are extremely strong, the mastery system quickly became one of the most important progression mechanics in the game. Players who fully max their favorite weapon or melee can deal much higher damage and farm much faster compared to normal builds. What Is the Mastery System?
The mastery system allows players to level individual weapons, melee styles, and other combat specs separately. This means mastery is not shared across your account. Every weapon or fighting style has its own mastery level and must be leveled independently.
For example, if you level Black Reaper mastery to 500, your other weapons will still remain at their original mastery levels unless you grind them separately. The system rewards players for spending more time using specific builds and gives strong permanent bonuses as mastery increases.
How to Unlock Mastery
Players can access mastery in two different ways inside Sailor Piece. The first method is visiting the Mastery NPC located on Starter Island in Sea 2. Talking to this NPC opens the mastery menu and allows players to check progression for each spec.
The second method is much easier because the update also added a mastery button directly inside the inventory menu. This allows players to check mastery levels anytime without needing to return to the NPC repeatedly.
How Mastery Levels Work
Mastery progression is based entirely on enemy kills. Every mastery level requires 25 kills, and the maximum mastery level is 500. Here are the basic mastery requirements:
- 25 kills per level
- Maximum mastery level is 500
- Total kills needed for max mastery: 12,500
Because of the huge number of kills required, many players use special farming methods to speed up progression.
Mastery Rewards and Buffs
The biggest reason players grind mastery is because the rewards are extremely powerful. As mastery levels increase, your weapon or melee gradually receives multiple buffs that improve overall performance. Some of the bonuses include:
- Increased damage
- Extra luck stat
- Higher critical hit chance
- Increased critical damage
The buffs continue scaling as mastery levels rise, meaning your spec keeps getting stronger throughout the grind instead of only at the final level.
One of the earliest rewards already appears at Mastery Level 25, where players receive additional luck bonuses.
Mastery 500 Passive Effect
Reaching Mastery 500 unlocks the strongest mastery reward. Once fully maxed, the weapon or melee gains a passive ability with a 25% chance to deal 1.5x bonus damage during attacks. This passive is extremely useful for:
- Boss fights
- Raid farming
- PvE grinding
- Endgame content
- Fast enemy clearing
Fully mastered specs also gain around:
- +30% Damage
- +30% Luck
- Bonus Crit Chance
- +25% Crit Damage
These buffs make mastery one of the strongest progression systems currently available in the game.
Best Way to Farm Mastery Fast
The normal way to level mastery is by defeating enemies repeatedly using the weapon or melee you want to level. However, many players discovered a much faster strategy using Quake Fruit. The method works by using Quake’s Sea Skill to damage multiple enemy groups at once, then quickly switching to another weapon before enemies die.
If done correctly, the kills will count toward the mastery of the equipped weapon instead of Quake itself. This allows players to level weaker weapons much faster without needing to directly fight using them.
Best Farming Location for Mastery
One of the most popular farming spots is Starter Island in Sea 2. Players usually stand between two enemy groups and use large AoE attacks to clear both sides simultaneously. This method is effective because:
- Enemy groups are close together
- Respawn speed is fast
- AoE farming becomes easier
- Multiple kills can be chained quickly
For players trying to rush Mastery 500, this is currently considered one of the fastest routes available.
Game Modes That Do Not Give Mastery
Not every activity in Sailor Piece provides mastery progression. Based on current player testing, these modes do not reward mastery kills:
- Tower Mode
- Boss Rush
- Crystal Defense
Because of this, normal enemy farming remains the best method for leveling mastery consistently.
For most players, mastery is absolutely worth the time investment. The combination of extra damage, better luck, critical bonuses, and the final passive effect makes a huge difference during late-game progression. Players who regularly farm bosses, raids, or difficult Sea 2 content will benefit heavily from maxing mastery on their favorite weapons and melee styles.
