Another big update has arrived for A Universal Time, and Update 5.8 adds a brand-new ability, fresh premium skins, quest improvements, and several balance changes across the game. While there are no new redeem codes this time, the update still brings plenty of content for players who enjoy grinding quests, collecting abilities, and fighting bosses.
One of the biggest highlights in this patch is the arrival of AUTrain, a new Legendary ability inspired by super speed combat. Alongside that, players can also check out new kill effects, easier NPC fights, and updated Haki systems that make progression smoother than before.

No New AUT Codes in Update 5.8
At the moment, there are currently no new redeem codes released with Update 5.8. Even though many players expected free rewards alongside the patch, the developers decided to focus more on gameplay content and balance updates instead.
Players should still keep an eye on future announcements because major updates in AUT often come with new code drops later on.
New Ability: AUTrain
The biggest addition in this update is the new Legendary ability called AUTrain. This ability focuses heavily on speed, aggressive combat, and fast movement. The skill set allows players to rush enemies quickly while using attacks inspired by high-speed superhero battles.
AUTrain is designed for players who enjoy mobility-based gameplay. The attacks are fast, flashy, and excellent for chasing enemies in PvP fights. The ability also includes support from “The Seven,” making the overall moveset feel much more unique compared to older abilities.
How to Get AUTrain in AUT
Unlocking AUTrain takes some time because the questline has several different objectives. To begin the process, players need to find the new Homelander NPC located at the Port area. Here is the full AUTrain quest progression:
- Talk to Homelander at Port
- Defeat 25 Prisoners and Pirates
- Return to Homelander
- Complete the social media minigame at the Green Screen
- Finish the Arena boss rush trial
- Chase Kur using Temp V during the obstacle minigame
- Defeat Homelander Boss
- Obtain AUTrain
The final boss fight against Homelander can be difficult if your build is weak, so it is recommended to bring stronger abilities before attempting the last stage.
New NPCs Added
Update 5.8 also introduces two versions of Homelander into the game.
Homelander NPC
This NPC is located at Port and starts the AUTrain questline. Players will interact with him multiple times during the progression process.
Homelander Boss
The boss version appears at the Boss Altar and is required near the end of the AUTrain unlock quest. Defeating him is the final requirement for obtaining the ability.
Premium Shop Update
The Premium Shop received several new cosmetics and abilities in this patch. Players who enjoy collecting skins now have more options available.
New additions include:
- Wally West Mythic Skin
- Homelander Mythic Skin
- Africa Legendary Skin
- The Flash Legendary Skin
- Quicksilver Legendary Skin
- AUTrain Legendary Ability
These cosmetics mainly focus on speed-themed characters, matching the overall theme of the update.
New Kill Effects
Several new kill effects were also added in Update 5.8. These effects activate after defeating enemies and give extra visual flair during combat.
New kill effects include:
- Electric Dragon
- Raigo
- Glitched
- Glitched Overdrive
- Tombstone
Some of these are higher rarity effects and may become popular among collectors.
Major Gameplay Changes and Improvements
The developers also made many balance adjustments and quality-of-life improvements in this patch. Several annoying NPC mechanics were toned down, making PvE content less frustrating.
Some of the biggest changes include:
- Sewer spawns have been disabled
- Mysterious Dagger can now be sold to Blackmarket NPC
- Pirate and Zombie spawn range increased significantly
- NPC group limit increased from 15 to 25
- Flyhead enemies attack less frequently
- Jujutsu Sorcerer Axe Kick nerfed
- Haki NPCs can now be completed in any order
- Players can reclaim Haki on different abilities
- Bob quest pirate requirement reduced from 500 to 300
These changes should make farming and progression much easier, especially for newer players.
Reaper Quest Changes
The Soul Reaping section of the Reaper quest has also been expanded. More abilities are now supported during progression, including:
- Cid Kagenou
- Reaper
- Shinigami
- Ichigo
- Aizen
- Anubis
This update gives players more flexibility when completing the Reaper grind.
Is Update 5.8 Worth Playing?
Update 5.8 may not be the biggest AUT update ever released, but it still adds a strong amount of content for active players. AUTrain looks fun to use, the new skins are solid, and the gameplay adjustments make grinding much smoother than before.
Players who enjoy collecting abilities or farming bosses will probably spend a lot of time working through the new AUTrain questline. Even without new codes, the update still feels like a good step forward for the game overall.
