The Clan System is one of the biggest progression features in Broken Blade. While leveling and collecting stronger gear are important, joining a clan unlocks powerful bonuses that can significantly improve your damage, farming speed, survivability, and drop rates. Reaching Hero Rank takes a lot of grinding, but the rewards are worth the effort for late-game players. This guide covers every clan, the best clan to choose, and the fastest way to progress through clan ranks.
Where to Find Clan NPCs
All clan NPCs can be found on Yhatunhem. Once you arrive on the island, head toward the large tower. Inside, you’ll find the NPCs that allow you to choose your clan path. There are currently four clans available, each providing different bonuses and progression rewards. Before making your choice, it’s important to understand what each clan offers.
All Clans in Broken Blade
Flame Clan
Flame Clan focuses on increasing offensive power and farming efficiency.
Clan Bonuses:
- +50% damage against Frost enemies
- +15% damage
- +15% gems
Players who want a simple damage boost while earning more resources may find Flame Clan useful. The additional gem gain can also help speed up progression.
Thunder Clan
Thunder Clan is designed for players focused on critical damage and leveling.
Clan Bonuses:
- +50% damage against Storm enemies
- +25% critical damage
- +10% experience gain
The experience bonus helps newer players level faster, while the critical damage increase works well with crit-focused builds.
Frost Clan
Frost Clan prioritizes survivability and money farming.
Clan Bonuses:
- +50% damage against Flame enemies
- +400% health
- +20% money gain
This clan is ideal for players who prefer tankier builds or want additional income while grinding.
Storm Clan
Storm Clan is currently considered one of the strongest overall choices.
Clan Bonuses:
- +50% damage against Thunder enemies
- +3% critical chance
- +10% luck
The combination of damage, critical chance, and luck makes Storm Clan extremely valuable for both combat and farming.
Why Storm Clan Is the Best Choice
Storm Clan stands out because its bonuses remain useful throughout the entire game.
The biggest advantage comes from the bonus damage against Thunder enemies. Many bosses in Broken Blade belong to this element, meaning you’ll benefit from the damage increase during a large portion of your farming sessions.
The extra critical chance is also valuable because there are relatively few ways to increase crit rate directly. Even a small increase can noticeably improve your damage output over time.
Finally, the luck bonus helps with farming materials, boss drops, armor pieces, keys, ores, and other important resources. Since nearly every progression system requires farming, luck is always useful.
For most players, Storm Clan offers the best balance between combat performance and resource gathering.
How Clan Progression Works
After choosing a clan, you’ll need to complete a series of quests to increase your rank.
Each completed quest line grants stronger clan bonuses and unlocks the next rank.
Although each clan uses different elements, the overall progression structure is very similar. The requirements simply change to match your clan’s element.
Using Storm Clan as an example, here’s how progression works.
Captain Rank Quest
The first quest is straightforward.
Requirements:
- Defeat 500 Thunder Soldiers
The fastest method is using weapons with large area-of-effect skills. Excalibur is a popular choice because it can clear large groups of enemies quickly.
After completion, you’ll receive additional damage against Thunder enemies and advance to Captain Rank.
Commander Rank Quest
The next stage requires more grinding.
Requirements:
- Defeat 1,000 Thunder Soldiers
- Defeat Cri 7 times
- Defeat Knifler 7 times
- Defeat Thorvvic 7 times
- Use 10 Storm Ore
Instead of waiting for a single boss to respawn, rotate between all three bosses. By the time you finish one boss, another should be available again, making the process much faster.
Storm Ore is obtained from Han, so make sure to farm that boss whenever possible.
General Rank Quest
This is where the grind becomes more serious.
Requirements:
- Reach Skyspire Floor 75
- Reach Soul Forge Level 9
- Use 99 Storm Ore
- Defeat 2,500 Thunder Soldiers
- Defeat Cri, Knifler, and Thorvvic 15 times each
Many of these objectives overlap.
Boss farming provides Sky Keys needed for Skyspire while also rewarding Soul Stones for Soul Forge upgrades. Because of this, it is efficient to work on multiple objectives simultaneously instead of focusing on only one task.
Upon completion, Storm Clan gains additional Thunder damage and an extra 1% critical chance.
Advanced Clan Quests
Later ranks introduce much larger requirements, including:
- Skyspire Floor 80 and Floor 90 clears
- Soul Forge Levels 10 and 11
- Hundreds of Storm Ore
- Hundreds of Mythic and Holy Chests
- Shadow Armor
- Fury Armor
- Boss Coins
- Hundreds of Thorvvic kills
These quests are designed for late-game players and can take a significant amount of time to finish.
A good strategy is to continuously farm bosses while pushing Skyspire whenever possible. This allows you to gather keys, Soul Stones, Holy Chests, armor drops, and other materials at the same time.
Hero Rank Requirements
Hero Rank is the final clan rank and represents the biggest grind in the system.
Requirements include:
- Soul Forge Level 12
- 999 Storm Ore
- 1,000 Holy Chests
- 100 Sacrifice Pieces
- 100 Moon Pieces
- 1,000 Sky Keys
- 500 Boss Keys
- 100 additional Thorvvic defeats
Soul Forge Level 12 is often considered the most difficult objective because upgrade success rates become extremely low. Many players spend huge amounts of materials before finally reaching the requirement.
The remaining objectives revolve around farming bosses, Skyspire, and late-game materials.
Once completed, Storm Clan unlocks its full bonuses:
- +50% damage against Thunder enemies
- +3% critical chance
- +10% luck
Fastest Way to Reach Hero Rank
The biggest mistake many players make is farming objectives one at a time.
Instead, focus on overlapping activities whenever possible.
For example:
- Yatin Ham bosses provide Sky Keys, Soul Stones, boss progress, and Storm Ore.
- Skyspire rewards Holy Chests, Soul Stones, and progression materials.
- Midaveller bosses provide Boss Coins, armor drops, and Moon Pieces.
- Black Swordsman farming rewards Sacrifice Pieces.
By combining multiple objectives into a single farming route, you can save a huge amount of time during the Hero Rank grind.
The Clan System is one of the most important late-game features in Broken Blade. While every clan offers useful bonuses, Storm Clan currently stands out thanks to its powerful combination of bonus damage, critical chance, and luck.
Reaching Hero Rank requires a massive investment of time, materials, boss kills, and Skyspire progress. However, players who plan their farming routes carefully and work on multiple objectives simultaneously will progress much faster.
If you’re looking for the strongest overall clan and the most efficient path through the clan system, Storm Clan remains one of the best choices available in Broken Blade right now.
