VV Ultimatum Spirit Charms Tier List Guide – Best Charms, Limits, and Merging Explained!
Spirit Charms are one of the most important progression systems in VV Ultimatum. While weapons, skills, and race choices help define your character, Spirit Charms can completely change how your build performs in both PvE and PvP. Some Charms provide powerful offensive bonuses, others improve survivability, while a few introduce entirely new mechanics.
With more than 50 Spirit Charms currently available, choosing the right combination can be difficult. This guide covers the best Charms in the game, how the notch system works, and everything you should know before equipping or removing a Charm.
Best Spirit Charms in VV Ultimatum
Although Spirit Charms are divided into official in-game tiers from Tier 1 to Tier 4, not every high-tier Charm is automatically the best option. Some Charms are incredibly powerful but come with major drawbacks, while others offer reliable value in almost every situation.
S-Tier Charms
These are currently among the strongest Charms available and can significantly improve a build.
A Song of Fire and Thunder (Tier 4)
This is one of the most powerful Charms in the game. It enhances both melee and Kido attacks while granting access to additional status effects when your health drops below 25%. Players using hybrid builds will get the most value from this Charm thanks to its ability to boost multiple damage types at the same time.
Shonen Syndrome (Tier 4)
Shonen Syndrome temporarily upgrades an ability by two levels, allowing players to unleash stronger attacks during critical moments. While the cooldown prevents constant use, the burst potential can completely change the outcome of a fight when used correctly.
Heavenly Restriction (Tier 3)
This Charm transforms your playstyle by heavily boosting physical combat, movement speed, and survivability. The downside is that you lose access to abilities entirely. For players who enjoy pure melee combat, this is one of the strongest build-defining Charms available.
Raid Boss (Tier 3)
Raid Boss is designed for players who frequently fight multiple opponents at once. The more enemies nearby, the stronger the bonuses become. In large-scale PvP encounters, this Charm can provide huge damage and defense boosts.
A-Tier Charms
These Charms offer excellent performance and fit into many builds.
- Adrenaline Junkie
- Await the Opening
- Curtain Call
- Soul Snatcher
- Struggler’s Spirit
- Ultimate Sacrifice
- Undying Soul
- You’re In My Range
- Frostwalker
- Perfect Flash
- Superiority Complex
- Tools of the Trade
Most of these Charms reward skilled play by enhancing parries, critical attacks, Kido combos, or aggressive combat styles.
B-Tier Charms
These Charms remain useful but are often more situational.
- Backline Buster
- Close & Personal
- Indomitable Spirit
- Lizard’s Spirit
- Mysterious Stranger (Her)
- Mysterious Stranger (Him)
- Surgeon’s Spirit
- Swarm
- Wraith’s Spirit
- Silent Shadows
- Relentless Hunter
- Side Character
Many of these are specialized choices that perform well in specific situations but may not fit every build.
C-Tier Charms
These Charms can still be useful but generally provide less impact than higher-ranked options.
- Factotum’s Spirit
- Frugal
- Battle Hardened
- Defensive Regen
- Flashmaster
- Fortified Fighter
- Giant Fighter
- Head Hunter
- Prey Turned Predator
- Trouble in Paradise
- At The Ready
They are often used for niche activities such as boss farming, mission protection, or leveling.
How Spirit Charm Limits Work
Unlike most equipment systems, Spirit Charms are balanced through a notch system. Every Charm has a tier value, and higher-tier Charms consume more notches when equipped. Here’s how the system works:
- Tier 1 Charms consume 1 notch.
- Tier 2 Charms consume 2 notches.
- Tier 3 Charms consume 3 notches.
- Tier 4 Charms consume 4 notches.
Your character unlocks additional notches as they level up. While using up to three notches causes no penalty, exceeding that limit reduces your maximum HP.
The penalties are severe:
- 4 notches = -6% max HP
- 5 notches = -12% max HP
- 6 notches = -18% max HP
- 7 notches = -24% max HP
- 8 notches = -30% max HP
- 9 notches = -36% max HP
- 10 notches = -42% max HP
This means powerful Charm combinations often come with a significant health cost.
How to Remove Spirit Charms
Before equipping a Charm, make sure you actually want to keep it. Currently, the only known method for removing Spirit Charms is by visiting the Valley of Screams. To enter this area, players must find one of the random purple portals that occasionally spawn throughout the world.
Once inside, you can remove unwanted Charms. However, remember that removed Charms are permanently destroyed and cannot be recovered. Because of this, choosing which Charms to equip is an important decision.
Spirit Charm Merging Explained
If three Charm slots aren’t enough, there is another option available. Players can merge two Spirit Charms together to create a stronger combined Charm. Merging provides three major benefits:
- Combines the effects of both Charms.
- Adds their tier values together.
- Uses only one Charm slot.
For example:
- Tier 2 + Tier 3 = Tier 5 Charm
- Tier 1 + Tier 4 = Tier 5 Charm
- Tier 3 + Tier 3 = Tier 6 Charm
This is currently the only way to obtain Charms above Tier 4. However, there is still a limit. The combined tier value of all equipped Charms cannot exceed 10, regardless of how many Charms are merged.
Spirit Charms are one of the strongest systems in VV Ultimatum and can dramatically improve your character when used correctly. While top-tier options like A Song of Fire and Thunder, Shonen Syndrome, Heavenly Restriction, and Raid Boss dominate many builds, there are dozens of other Charms that can shine depending on your playstyle.
Before stacking powerful Charms, always consider the HP penalties from the notch system. A stronger build isn’t always better if you’re sacrificing nearly half of your maximum health. Finding the right balance between power, survivability, and utility is the key to creating an effective endgame setup.
