How to Get Mutations in Defend Your Base with Anime
Mutations are obtained through the reroll system. Whenever you reroll a fighter, there is a chance for that unit to appear with a mutation attached. Each fighter can only have one mutation at a time, and the mutation name will appear above the unit when it spawns on the platform.
Two mutations, Gold and Diamond, can appear naturally during regular rerolls. These mutations are always available and do not require any special event to obtain.
The remaining mutations are tied to special mutation events that occur every hour. During these event windows, players can reroll units and hope to get fighters with the featured mutation. Since the system is still based on luck, there is no guarantee that a mutated unit will appear on every reroll.
Mutation Event Schedule
Special mutation events follow a global schedule across all servers:
- Dragonborn Event – Every hour at XX:15
- Beast Event – Every hour at XX:30
- Arrancar Event – Every hour at XX:45
For example, if the current time is 5 PM, Dragonborn begins at 5:15 PM, Beast starts at 5:30 PM, and Arrancar starts at 5:45 PM.
During these events, keep rerolling and check the available fighters. If a mutated version appears, you can purchase it using Cash.
Admin Mutation
The Admin mutation works differently from every other mutation in the game. It does not appear during regular mutation events and cannot be obtained through normal rerolls.
Instead, Admin mutations are only available when developers activate a special Admin Abuse event. Since these events are extremely rare, Admin is considered the hardest mutation to obtain.

Can Mutated Units Be Cloned?
Most mutated fighters can be duplicated through the Clone Machine. You can also merge duplicate units that share the same mutation and level to make them stronger. The only exception is Admin-mutated units. These fighters cannot be cloned, making them even more valuable than other mutations.
Best Mutation to Get
For most players, Arrancar offers the best balance between rarity and power. Its 5.5x damage multiplier can dramatically improve a unit’s performance without requiring a special developer event. If you have the chance to obtain an Admin mutation, it should always be your top priority because it provides the highest damage bonus in the entire game.
