The latest VV: Ultimatum quality-of-life update quietly made the Gauntlet much more rewarding. Besides being a challenging mode that lets you relive previous boss fights, it now provides significantly better reroll rewards than before. If you haven’t unlocked it yet, now is the perfect time to do so. Here’s a complete guide to unlocking the Gauntlet and claiming its rewards.

Travel to Fort Adams

The first step is heading to Fort Adams. You can press U to open your map and locate the area. Once you arrive, head toward the hills and continue moving forward. Players with flying abilities can take a shortcut, but walking works just fine if you follow the path. Eventually, you’ll come across a large statue. However, interacting with it immediately won’t show the Gauntlet. You first need to complete a hidden quest.

Speak to the Hidden NPC

Near the statue is an NPC that gives the quest called The Gauntlet. Talk to him, and he’ll ask you to craft a special item known as Dark Spirit Alloy. This item is required to unlock access to the mode.

How to Craft Dark Spirit Alloy

Return to the village and find the crafting table in the center area. To craft Dark Spirit Alloy, you’ll need:

  • 4x Dark Essence
  • 1x Great Soul Essence
  • 1x Spirit Alloy

These materials can be obtained from:

  • Chests
  • Enemy drops
  • Various farming activities

Once you’ve gathered everything, craft the Dark Spirit Alloy and return to the NPC. Speak to him again to complete the quest.

Activate the Gauntlet

After finishing the quest, interact with the statue once more. You should now see the Gauntlet menu. This mode lets you revisit bosses you’ve already defeated throughout your journey. If a boss is missing, it means you haven’t beaten that enemy yet. Some examples include:

  • Lord Nevis
  • Genichiro
  • Grey Hunter
  • Parasite (found in the Human World)

Only bosses you’ve defeated can appear inside the Gauntlet.

Important Things to Know

Currently, Gauntlet rewards are one-time only. Once you’ve completed a challenge and claimed its rewards, you cannot farm the same rewards repeatedly. Because of the recent buff, players who never completed the Gauntlet before can earn a large amount of rerolls and other useful items all at once.

Is the Gauntlet Worth Unlocking?

Absolutely.

The updated Gauntlet has become one of the best sources of free rerolls and bonus stats in VV: Ultimatum. Unlocking it only requires one hidden quest and a crafted Dark Spirit Alloy, but the rewards are much better than before. If you’ve been saving rerolls or looking for extra progression, unlocking the Gauntlet should be one of your priorities after the latest update.
