The Skill Tree is one of the biggest additions introduced in Update 8 of Build a Ring Farm. Although it may not look like a major feature at first, it provides permanent bonuses that can increase your farm’s income, improve your luck, and help you progress much faster. Whether you’re focusing on harvesting crops, raising pets, or completing events, the Skill Tree rewards almost everything you do while playing. If you haven’t started using it yet, this guide explains how to unlock the Skill Tree, what every available skill does, and which upgrades are worth getting first.
How to Unlock the Skill Tree
Before you can access the Skill Tree, you’ll need to unlock Floor 3. This is currently the only requirement. After reaching Floor 3, you’ll notice a large tree standing in front of your farm. Interact with this tree to open the Skill Tree menu.
From there, you can begin unlocking permanent upgrades by completing various in-game objectives. Most objectives are things you’ll naturally accomplish while playing, so you don’t need to completely change your playstyle to earn progress.
Build a Ring Farm Skill Tree Explained
The Skill Tree is divided into two separate branches, each offering different types of bonuses.
1. Farm Skill Tree
The Farm Skill Tree focuses on improving your crops and increasing the amount of money your farm generates. If earning more coins is your top priority, this should be one of the first branches you invest in. Current Farm Skills include:
- Weather Watcher Attend 10 weather events +3% Weather Mutation crop sell value
- Growing Roots Harvest 5,000 crops on Floor 3 or higher +1.5% Farm Earnings
- Ring Tiller Harvest 35,000 crops on Floor 3+ and earn 100Q from harvested crops +2.5% Crop Sell Value
- Rich Soil Compost 10 times +5% Composter Reward Luck
These upgrades may seem small individually, but they continue stacking over time, allowing your farm to earn much more from every harvest.
2. Player Skill Tree
The Player Skill Tree rewards activities outside of regular farming. Instead of focusing on crops, these upgrades improve bonuses related to pets, contracts, events, and sprinklers.
Current Player Skills include:
- Signed Sprouts Complete 5 Contracts +5% Sprinkler Boost
- Loyal Helper Hatch 15 Pets +5% Pet Earnings Boost
- Event Regular Participate in 3 Gameplay Events +1% Farm Earnings
- Route Runner Join 3 Trucker or Alien Invasion Events +2.5% Seed Luck
Since most players regularly hatch pets and participate in events, you’ll naturally unlock many of these upgrades just by continuing to play.
Which Skill Tree Should You Upgrade First?
The best path depends on how you usually play Build a Ring Farm. If you spend most of your time harvesting crops and trying to increase your income, start with the Farm Skill Tree. The farming bonuses directly improve your crop values and overall profits.
Meanwhile, players who enjoy completing contracts, collecting pets, and joining limited-time events may find the Player Skill Tree more useful during the early game. Eventually, you’ll want to unlock both branches because the bonuses work together. Higher farm earnings, better seed luck, stronger sprinklers, and improved pet income all combine to make progression much faster.
Why the Skill Tree Is Worth Unlocking
The Skill Tree may not provide massive upgrades immediately, but its long-term value is easy to notice. Every completed objective permanently improves your account, making future harvests more profitable and reducing the grind over time.
Since most objectives involve activities you’ll already be doing—such as harvesting crops, attending weather events, hatching pets, or finishing contracts—you’ll continue unlocking new skills naturally as you play. With future updates expected to add even more Skill Tree levels, it’s a good idea to start progressing now instead of waiting.
The Skill Tree is one of the most rewarding systems added to Build a Ring Farm in Update 8. Once you’ve unlocked Floor 3, make sure to visit the giant tree and begin completing its objectives. Every skill provides a permanent boost that helps your farm become more productive, whether through higher crop values, better seed luck, stronger sprinklers, or increased pet earnings.
Even if the bonuses seem small at first, they quickly add up. As you unlock more nodes across both the Farm and Player Skill Trees, you’ll notice your earnings growing much faster while simply playing the game as usual.
