The Fin Whale is one of the newest Secret fish introduced in Fisch. Unlike regular fish, it only appears during a special migration event, making it much rarer than standard catches. If you’re hoping to complete your Bestiary or collect every Secret fish, you’ll need to know exactly when and where the Fin Whale appears. Here’s everything you need to know, including its preferred conditions, location, and the best strategy to catch it. Also check out our Fisch Codes for more rewards!

Fin Whale Requirements

Before heading out, make sure you meet the following conditions:

  • Rarity Secret
  • Location Ocean (Migration Event)
  • Bait Krill
  • Preferred Weather Foggy
  • Preferred Time Day
  • Preferred Season Winter
  • Recommended Rod Any rod with a high Max Kg Capacity

Where to Find the Fin Whale

The Fin Whale can only be caught during a special Ocean Migration event. Unlike normal fish, it will not appear unless the migration is active. Once the migration begins, sail around the ocean near Moosewood. Keep an eye on the water for a large blue highlighted area, which marks the migration zone. Enter this area with your boat and begin fishing.

Although the Fin Whale prefers Foggy weather, Daytime, and Winter, the migration event itself is the most important requirement. If there isn’t an active migration, you won’t be able to catch one regardless of the weather or time.

Best Setup for Catching the Fin Whale

Using the proper equipment can make the hunt much easier.

  • Use Krill as your bait.
  • Equip a fishing rod with a high Max Kg Capacity since the Fin Whale is an extremely heavy catch.
  • Fish during Daytime in the Winter season whenever possible.
  • Try to fish while it’s Foggy to match the fish’s preferred conditions.
  • Use luck boosts or other fishing buffs if available to improve your chances.

A powerful rod is the most important part of this setup, as weaker rods may struggle with such a massive fish.

Tips to Find the Migration Faster

Since the Fin Whale only appears during migration events, patience is key.

Here are a few tips to speed up the process:

  • Watch for the large blue highlighted migration area in the ocean.
  • Stay near Moosewood while waiting for the event.
  • Keep Krill stocked before the migration starts.
  • Have your strongest fishing rod equipped before entering the migration zone.
  • If the preferred conditions aren’t active, you can simply wait until they occur while continuing to monitor the ocean.

Is the Fin Whale Worth Catching?

Absolutely. While the Fin Whale isn’t required for progression, it’s one of the game’s Secret fish and a valuable addition to any Bestiary collection.

Players who enjoy completing every collection or hunting rare catches will definitely want to add it to their inventory. Fortunately, it’s more about being in the right place at the right time than overcoming an extremely difficult fishing challenge.

As long as you participate in the migration event, use Krill, and bring a rod capable of handling its massive weight, you’ll eventually land the Fin Whale and add another rare catch to your collection.
