Universal Tower Defense Z Update 4.0 Guide: Night Raid Mode, New Codes, and More!
Universal Tower Defense Z Update 4.0 introduces one of the biggest quality-of-life patches yet, adding a brand-new Night Raid Extraction mode alongside major balance adjustments, interface improvements, and several convenient gameplay features. Whether you’re farming powerful units, optimizing your team, or simply looking for a smoother experience, this update brings plenty of changes worth knowing.
Besides introducing Night Raid, the developers have also rebalanced numerous popular units, added an Inbox system for rewards and code redemption, improved lobby navigation, and implemented several community-requested features. Here’s everything included in Universal Tower Defense Z Update 4.0.
Are There New Codes?
Instead of releasing new redeemable codes with Update 4.0, the developers have switched to a login reward system. Players simply need to log into Universal Tower Defense Z during the update period to receive special rewards without manually entering promotional codes.
This change makes it easier for everyone to claim update bonuses, as rewards are distributed automatically through the game’s new Inbox feature. Be sure to log in during the event period so you don’t miss any limited-time rewards.
Night Raid Mode Arrives with Better Rewards and Tougher Battles

The highlight of Update 4.0 is the introduction of Night Raid, a special version of the Extraction game mode that appears every hour. Rather than replacing the standard Extraction, Night Raid alternates with the normal version, giving players regular opportunities to challenge a more difficult experience for improved rewards.
Compared to the regular Extraction mode, Night Raid offers:
- Increased chances of valuable item drops
- Stronger enemy waves
- Shorter extraction timers
- More challenging overall gameplay
Players looking to maximize farming efficiency will likely prioritize Night Raid whenever it becomes available. However, the stronger enemies mean well-built teams and upgraded units are more important than ever.
Complete Unit Balance Changes

Update 4.0 also delivers numerous balance adjustments. While only two units received nerfs, a long list of characters benefited from significant buffs that improve their overall usefulness.
Nerfed Units
Yhwach
Yhwach’s Blue Burn damage-over-time effects have been toned down to prevent excessive scaling.
Changes include:
- Blue Burn damage reduced to 10%
- Maximum Blue Burn damage-over-time capped at 300%
These changes primarily target extended fights where Blue Burn could previously stack into extremely high damage.
Sinbad
Sinbad wasn’t directly weakened through numbers, but a long-standing damage bug has finally been fixed. As a result, players may notice lower effective damage if they previously benefited from the unintended behavior.
Buffed Units
Many fan-favorite units received meaningful improvements across multiple upgrade paths.
Merciless God
Merciless God now deals more damage across every upgrade path, making the unit a stronger overall DPS option regardless of build choice.

The Phantom Trickster
The Phantom Trickster becomes more affordable while gaining stronger offensive power.
Changes include:
- Higher overall damage
- Lower placement cost
- Increased cost for the final two upgrades
This makes early deployment easier without greatly affecting late-game investment.
Only Hope of Humanity
Hope generation has become much more consistent.
Changes include:
- Normal enemies now contribute to the Hope Bar
- Every five enemy eliminations grant 1% Hope
This allows players to charge Hope even without relying solely on elite enemies.
Ambush
Ambush now deals True Damage during All Out Attack.
This improvement allows the attack to bypass certain defensive mechanics, making it considerably stronger against durable enemies.
Cranium
Cranium received multiple upgrades that improve both affordability and damage output.

New Lobby HUD and User Interface
Update 4.0 refreshes the overall lobby experience with an improved HUD and cleaner interface. While the gameplay remains familiar, navigating menus and accessing important features is now more convenient.
The redesigned interface also serves as the foundation for several newly added systems introduced in this patch.
Inbox System Makes Rewards Easier to Claim

A brand-new Inbox feature has been added to the game.

- Shiny units
This feature is especially useful during long farming sessions where inventories can quickly fill with duplicate rewards.
Etherealization Shards Added to the Banner
Banner summons now have an additional incentive.
Players can obtain Etherealization Shards directly through the Banner system, providing another progression method while pulling for new units.
Vote Kick System Added
Multiplayer matches now include a Vote Kick feature.
Requirements:
- At least three players must be present in the match
This system helps parties remove inactive or disruptive players during cooperative gameplay.
Free Camera Keybind Updated
The developers have also adjusted the default free camera shortcut.
Old keybind:
- Shift + C
New keybind:
- Shift + P
Players who frequently use free camera mode should update their controls accordingly.
