Psychic is one of the three main Archetypes in Anime Expeditions, alongside Physical and Magical. Unlike the other Archetypes, Psychic units are designed to remain neutral during stage modifiers, meaning they aren’t affected by Archetype-specific debuffs. This makes them reliable choices across a wide variety of game modes. At launch, there are only a handful of Psychic units available, but each one offers a unique playstyle. This guide covers every Psychic unit currently in Anime Expeditions, including their passives, roles, and how to obtain them.
What Are Psychic Units?
Psychic units deal Psychic Archetype damage, allowing them to avoid the stage debuffs that commonly affect Physical and Magical units. While Psychic characters don’t currently benefit from dedicated Archetype support buffs, they make up for it with consistent performance in nearly every stage. Their unique mechanics also set them apart from traditional damage dealers, with some focusing on summons while others specialize in increasing team damage.
Toy Maker
- Rarity: Exclusive
- Elements: Dark, Psychic
How to Obtain Toy Maker
- Toy Maker is an Exclusive unit introduced with the game’s Release (0.0) update.
- The only way to unlock Toy Maker is by participating in the Release Tournament.
- Since this unit isn’t available through normal banners, players must compete in the event whenever it’s active.
Toy Maker Passive: Build-a-Toy
Instead of attacking enemies directly, Toy Maker summons Toys that fight in her place. Her passive allows her to deploy Toys across every path within her attack range, creating a unique defensive and offensive playstyle.
The summoned Toys inherit 100% of Toy Maker’s current damage as their Health, making upgrades especially important. As Toy Maker is upgraded, her passive becomes even stronger:
- Upgrade 2: Toys gain 15% increased movement speed.
- Upgrade 4: Destroyed Toys explode, dealing AoE damage equal to 10% of their maximum Health.
- Upgrade 6: Every fifth summon cycle creates a Mutated Toy with 150% additional Health.
When multiple paths are covered, each Toy’s Health is divided between the number of paths where they’re summoned.
Because of this mechanic, Toy Maker excels at controlling multiple lanes simultaneously rather than focusing on a single target.
Puppet
- Rarity: Mythic
- Elements: Light, Psychic
How to Obtain Puppet
- Puppet is a Mythic unit available through the Standard Banner and Mini Banner.
- The unit has a 0.5% summon rate, with a pity system that guarantees the unit after 400 summons if it hasn’t been obtained earlier.
- Players looking to build a Psychic team will likely spend most of their Gems attempting to summon Puppet due to its rarity.
Puppet Passive: Marionette’s Gaze
Puppet functions as a powerful support-oriented damage dealer. Every 15 seconds, the unit applies Puppet Mark to the strongest enemy within its attack range that isn’t already marked.
Enemies affected by Puppet Mark remain marked for 15 seconds and receive 20% additional incoming damage from all sources. This passive makes Puppet especially valuable during boss encounters, allowing your entire team to deal significantly more damage against high-priority targets.
Rather than relying solely on raw DPS, Puppet increases the effectiveness of every nearby attacker.
Puppet (Telekinetic)
- Rarity: Mythic Evolution
- Elements: Light, Psychic
How to Obtain Puppet (Telekinetic)
- Puppet (Telekinetic) is the evolved version of Puppet.
- To unlock this form, players must first obtain the base Puppet from the Standard or Mini Banner before completing its evolution requirements.
- Since it evolves from an already rare Mythic unit, Puppet (Telekinetic) is considered one of the more difficult Psychic units to acquire.
Puppet (Telekinetic) Overview
As Puppet’s evolved form, Puppet (Telekinetic) offers stronger overall performance while retaining its Psychic Archetype. Although its core role remains centered around supporting your team through powerful abilities, the evolution provides improved stats that make it an even stronger option for late-game content. For players planning to invest heavily in a Psychic team, evolving Puppet should be a long-term priority.
Are Psychic Units Worth Using?
Although the Psychic Archetype currently has fewer units than Physical and Magical, it offers several advantages. Some of the biggest strengths include:
- Immunity to Archetype-specific stage debuffs.
- Reliable performance across different game modes.
- Unique passives that provide utility beyond raw damage.
- Strong support capabilities through damage amplification and summons.
The lack of dedicated Psychic support buffs is the primary drawback, but the consistency these units provide often compensates for that limitation.
Psychic units bring a different approach to combat in Anime Expeditions, focusing on consistency and unique mechanics rather than relying solely on Archetype-specific buffs. Toy Maker controls the battlefield through durable summoned Toys, while Puppet enhances your team’s overall damage by marking powerful enemies. Once evolved, Puppet (Telekinetic) becomes an even stronger addition for players investing in Psychic-based lineups.
Although the current roster is relatively small, Psychic units remain valuable because they avoid many of the penalties that affect other Archetypes. As future updates introduce more characters and support options, the Psychic Archetype is likely to become an even more versatile choice for both new and experienced players.
