Anime Expeditions Enemy Modifiers Guide: All Stage Effects Explained
Enemy Modifiers are one of the biggest factors that determine a stage’s difficulty in Anime Expeditions. While stronger enemies naturally become harder to defeat, modifiers introduce additional mechanics that can completely change how a stage plays.
Some modifiers make enemies faster or tougher, while others disable important gameplay features like Traits, Farm units, or Research Tree upgrades. Understanding these mechanics is essential if you want to clear harder stages efficiently. This guide explains every Game Modifier and Enemy Modifier currently available in Anime Expeditions.
What Are Modifiers in Anime Expeditions?
Modifiers are special stage effects that alter the normal gameplay rules. Instead of simply increasing enemy stats, modifiers can affect almost every aspect of a match, including:
- Enemy movement speed
- Enemy durability
- Unit placement strategies
- Available upgrades
- Farming mechanics
- Crowd control effectiveness
- Damage resistances
Before entering a stage, you can view its active modifiers in the Stage Effects panel. This allows you to prepare your team before the battle begins.
Types of Modifiers
Anime Expeditions separates modifiers into two categories:
- Game Modifiers affect the entire stage. These mechanics apply globally and change the rules for every player and every enemy during the match. Examples include disabling Farm units, reducing unit range, or preventing Trait effects.
- Enemy Modifiers only affect specific enemy groups. Enemies with these modifiers display an icon above their heads, making it easier to identify dangerous targets during battle. Unlike Game Modifiers, only enemies carrying the modifier receive its effects.
All Game Modifiers

Boss Waves
Every enemy that appears during the stage is treated as a boss, making each wave considerably more challenging.
Cards Disabled
Blood Money and Bounty Hunter Cards cannot be used during the stage.
Mirror
Enemies copy the Elements of every unit you’ve deployed and gain resistance against those Elements.Using a team with multiple Elements becomes much more important when facing this modifier.
No Anvils
Stat Anvils are completely disabled for the duration of the stage.
No Farms
Farm units cannot be deployed, forcing players to rely entirely on their starting economy.
No Repair
Repair Hammers cannot be used, making base damage much more punishing.
No Research Tree
All bonuses from the Research Tree are disabled. Players must rely solely on their units and Relics.
No Tomes
Trait Tomes cannot be used during the match.
Resistance
Enemy Elemental Resistances rotate every 30 seconds. The resistance cycle follows this order:
- Flame
- Hydro
- Gale
- Terra
- Light
- Storm
- Dark
Players using only one Element may experience large damage losses when the resistance changes.
Shielded
Every enemy begins with 10 Shields that must be removed before dealing normal damage.
Short Range
All allied units lose 25% of their attack range. Positioning becomes much more important when this modifier is active.
Speedy
All enemies move 50% faster than normal.
Traitless
Every unit loses its Trait bonuses for the entire stage.
Upgrade Cap
Your entire team is limited to only 25 total upgrades throughout the match. Planning upgrade priorities becomes essential.
All Enemy Modifiers

Sprinter
Sprinter enemies move 45% faster but have 20% less Health. Although easier to defeat, they can quickly overwhelm defenses if ignored.
Tank
Tank enemies gain 20% more Health while moving 20% slower.
Summoner
Every five seconds, Summoners create additional enemies at their current position. Each Summoner can generate up to five extra enemies.
Explosive
Upon death, these enemies explode in a 10-range radius and stun nearby units for two seconds.
Splitter
After being defeated, Splitter enemies divide into three smaller enemies. Each new enemy inherits 33% of the original enemy’s Health.
Armored
Armored enemies receive 33% less damage from Full AoE attacks. Single-target and alternative attack types become much more effective.
Reinforced
All incoming damage is reduced by 30%.
Regen I
Restores 1% of maximum Health every second.
Regen II
Restores 3% of maximum Health every second.
Regen III
Restores 5% of maximum Health every second.
Regen IV
Restores 8% of maximum Health every second. These enemies require high sustained damage to prevent constant healing.
Shield
Protected by a damage-absorbing Shield that must be destroyed before normal attacks can damage the enemy.
Immunity
Completely ignores both soft and hard crowd control effects. Stuns, slows, freezes, and similar abilities become ineffective.
Momentum
Movement speed increases by 2% every second, up to a maximum bonus of 50%.
Burrowing
Every eight seconds, the enemy burrows underground for two seconds, becoming untargetable.
Zombie
After dying, Zombie enemies revive with 50% Health. Their second defeat also rewards 50% less Yen.
Zombify
Periodically transforms nearby enemies within a 10-range radius into Zombified enemies.
Zombified
These revived enemies drop no Yen when defeated.
Commander
Nearby enemies within five range receive:
- 20% increased Health
- 20% increased movement speed
Removing Commanders early greatly weakens surrounding enemies.
Research Project
Defeating these enemies contributes progress toward your currently active Expedition Project.
Soldier
Soldiers gain a 20% movement speed bonus whenever they’re close to a Commander.
Veil
Creates an AoE shield equal to 200% of the host enemy’s Health for nearby allies within five range.
Tartaros
Every ten seconds, the enemy consumes a nearby Basic enemy and gains Regen I for ten seconds.
Death
Nearby enemies receive stacking permanent movement speed bonuses. Applying soft crowd control immediately resets these speed stacks.
Sword
Sword enemies can revive up to two times. Applying damage-over-time effects before defeating them prevents additional revives.
Dawn
Enemies created by Summoner or Splitter spawn with:
- 99% reduced Health
- Five Shields
Stunner
Every 15 seconds, the three nearest allied units become stunned for five seconds.
Zone Debuff
Creates a designated area that continuously applies negative effects to units standing inside it.

Bulwark
Every ten seconds, the enemy becomes completely immune to damage for three seconds.
Status Cleanse
Every ten seconds, all crowd control effects currently affecting enemies are removed.
Retaliation Counter
After receiving every 20 hits, the modifier stuns every allied unit for two seconds. Fast-attacking teams should be especially cautious when facing this modifier.
Greed
Every ten seconds, the enemy steals 10% of the Health from nearby enemies within five range.
Cage
Randomly selects one deployed unit and traps it inside a cage. While trapped, that unit cannot attack, activate passives, or use abilities.
Fear
Every 15 seconds, all allied units within 30 range receive the following debuffs for ten seconds:
- 10% lower Damage
- 10% lower Attack Speed
- 10% lower Range
Warlock
Every five seconds, nearby enemies within ten range gain:
- One additional Shield
- 10% increased movement speed
Enemy Resistances Explained
Enemy Resistances are a special type of Game Modifier that affects every enemy on the map. Instead of granting new abilities, they reduce the damage enemies receive from specific Elements. These resistances appear above enemy health bars alongside other active Enemy Modifiers. Because Enemy Resistances act as a final damage multiplier, bringing multiple Elements is often the best strategy for stages that feature rotating or permanent resistances.
Tips for Dealing with Modifiers
Some modifiers are much more dangerous than others, so adapting your strategy is essential. Before entering a stage, always check the active Stage Effects and adjust your team accordingly. Units with crowd control lose much of their value against Immunity, while Farm units become unusable under No Farms. Likewise, stages with Mirror or rotating Resistance modifiers are easier when your team includes multiple Elements instead of relying on a single damage type.
For enemy-specific modifiers, prioritize high-threat targets such as Commander, Warlock, Summoner, and Stunner, as eliminating them early prevents them from strengthening nearby enemies or disrupting your defenses.
Modifiers are one of the defining mechanics that make Anime Expeditions more strategic than a typical tower defense game. Rather than simply increasing enemy health or damage, they introduce unique rules that can change how every stage is approached. Learning what each Game Modifier and Enemy Modifier does allows you to build better teams, counter difficult mechanics, and prepare for the toughest content the game has to offer. As new updates add additional stages and enemies, mastering the modifier system will remain an important part of progressing through Anime Expeditions efficiently.
