Reaching Day 100 is one of the main goals in 100 Days at Sea, but progressing one day at a time can take a while. Fortunately, the game includes a Day Count Multiplier system that lets you skip through days much faster. By completing specific objectives during your adventure, you can permanently increase your multiplier for the rest of your current run. This guide explains how the Day Count Multiplier works, every method to increase it, and the highest multiplier you can achieve.
What Is the Day Count Multiplier?
At the beginning of every new playthrough, your Day Count Multiplier starts at x1. This means one in-game day is added after each full day and night cycle.
The game follows a simple schedule:
- Daytime lasts 3 minutes.
- Nighttime lasts 1 minute and 30 seconds.
- The cycle begins once your Bonfire reaches 100%.
As your multiplier increases, you’ll gain multiple days after each cycle instead of just one. This allows you to reach important milestones much sooner without waiting through dozens of normal cycles. Most multiplier upgrades are permanent until your current run ends.
1. Rescue All Survivors (+3)
Saving stranded survivors is one of the first ways to increase your Day Count Multiplier. There are three survivors scattered across the world:
- Captain Stephen
- Doctor Madelaine
- Professor Erik
Each rescued survivor adds +1 to your multiplier.
If you rescue all three, you’ll receive a total bonus of +3, making this one of the easiest upgrades to obtain early in the game.
2. Place Every Container Structure (+4)
Container Structures provide the largest one-time increase to your Day Count Multiplier. Before building them, you’ll need to collect their blueprints from Oil Rigs. There are four unique structures available:
- Survival Shelter
- Container Shelter
- Makeshift Building
- Outpost
Each unique structure grants +1 to your multiplier, giving a maximum bonus of +4.
Keep in mind that building duplicates won’t provide additional progress.
A good strategy is to place these structures on Fisherman’s Island instead of your main raft. Enemy raids frequently target buildings near your base, while Fisherman’s Island is generally much safer.
3. Clear the Pirate Stronghold (+1)
Once you’ve collected all three Pirate Keys, you’ll gain access to the Pirate Stronghold. Finishing this area rewards another +1 Day Count Multiplier.
Compared to some late-game objectives, this challenge is fairly straightforward, making it worth completing as soon as you’re prepared.
4. Discover Every Island (+1)
Exploration also contributes to your overall progression. Visiting every island and uncovering all available points of interest rewards an additional +1 to your Day Count Multiplier. Even if you’re focused on combat or crafting, taking time to fully explore the map will speed up your overall journey to Day 100.
5. Defeat the Ancient Squid (+1)
After solving the Golden Tablet puzzle, you’ll unlock the battle against the Ancient Squid. Winning this fight permanently increases your multiplier by +1. Some players intentionally delay defeating the boss. Leaving one of the Squid puzzle islands active allows continuous farming of Glue, an important crafting material required to summon the Corruption Dungeon later in the game.
If you still need large amounts of Glue, consider farming first before finishing this objective.
6. Defeat the World Biome Boss (+1)
Each world generates one of two special biomes:
- Fire Biome
- Ice Biome
Each biome contains its own unique boss.
Possible encounters include:
- Yeti
- Magma Boss
Defeating whichever boss appears in your world grants another +1 Day Count Multiplier.
7. Complete the Corruption Dungeon (+1 Per Run)
Unlike every other method, the Corruption Dungeon can be completed repeatedly. Each time you defeat The Corruptor, your Day Count Multiplier increases by +1.
This makes it the only unlimited source of multiplier upgrades during a single playthrough. Players looking to reach extremely high multipliers should continue farming the Corruption Dungeon after completing every other objective.
Maximum Day Count Multiplier
Ignoring repeated Corruption Dungeon clears, you can earn a total of 11 bonus multiplier levels in one run. Here’s the full breakdown:
- Rescue all three Survivors: +3
- Build all four Container Structures: +4
- Defeat the Pirate Stronghold: +1
- Discover every Island: +1
- Defeat the Ancient Squid: +1
- Defeat the Fire or Ice Biome Boss: +1
Since every new game starts at x1, your highest permanent multiplier before farming the Corruption Dungeon is x12. From there, each additional Corruption Dungeon completion continues increasing your multiplier beyond that limit.
The Day Count Multiplier is one of the most valuable progression systems in 100 Days at Sea. Instead of waiting through dozens of standard day and night cycles, increasing your multiplier lets you advance through the game much faster while naturally completing major objectives along the way. By rescuing survivors, constructing every Container Structure, defeating powerful bosses, and repeatedly clearing the Corruption Dungeon, you can maximize your multiplier and make reaching Day 100 significantly quicker.
