Grow a Garden 2 has received another surprise update, and this one adds several new pets to the Fall content. The update appeared with little warning, but it quickly became one of the more interesting additions because some of the new pets have extremely useful abilities. The biggest addition is Kitsune, a Secret pet with a tiny drop chance and a powerful ability that can generate the new Chakra mutation.
Alongside Kitsune, players can also find the Jackalope, Scarecrow, and Red Panda. Each pet has a different purpose, with some helping players move around faster, others protecting gardens from thieves, and some stealing resources from other players. Here is everything you need to know about the new pets and whether they are worth getting.
All New Grow a Garden 2 Pets
The latest Fall Egg introduces several new pets that players can add to their collection. Their rarities and abilities vary quite a lot, so some are much more valuable than others.
1. Jackalope
Jackalope is a Legendary pet designed to improve movement around your garden. Its passive ability causes it to bounce around your garden while increasing your walking speed.
A normal Jackalope provides around +7.5 Walk Speed. This makes it slightly better than the standard Bunny, which provides around +5 Walk Speed. The difference is not enormous, but the additional speed can still be useful when you are constantly moving between different areas.
The pet also has a hopping animation that fits its design. Jackalope is particularly useful inside the Fall World, where having additional movement speed can make traveling between areas more convenient.
The downside is that Jackalope is tied to the Fall Egg, meaning you cannot simply purchase it with normal in-game currency. You need to rely on the Fall Egg system and luck to obtain one.
2. Scarecrow
Scarecrow is a Mythical pet with a completely different purpose. Instead of helping you farm or move around, it is designed to protect your garden from other players.
Its passive ability allows Scarecrow to watch over your garden and react when another player attempts to shovel or steal from it. When someone tries to steal, they receive a jumpscare and are prevented from stealing during the lock duration.
Other players nearby can also see the Scarecrow model briefly lunging toward the thief. This makes the pet especially interesting for players who frequently deal with other players trying to interfere with their garden.
Scarecrow is more of a defensive pet than a farming pet, so its usefulness depends heavily on how often your garden is targeted by other players.
3. Red Panda
Red Panda is a Super rarity pet with a 5% chance of being obtained from the new Fall Egg. Its design is very similar to the Red Panda from the original Grow a Garden, making it instantly recognizable to returning players.
The pet’s passive ability activates during nighttime. Red Panda sneaks out and attempts to steal a seed from another player’s garden before bringing it back to you.
Its biggest advantage is that it performs this action more frequently than Fox. This essentially makes Red Panda a stronger version of the same general concept.
The comparison with Fox is interesting because Fox is much easier to obtain. Fox can be purchased with regular in-game currency, while Red Panda requires the Fall Egg and only has a 5% chance of appearing.
That makes Red Panda significantly more exclusive, even though both pets perform a similar role.
Kitsune Is the New Secret Pet
Kitsune is easily the most interesting pet in this update. It has Secret rarity and an extremely low 0.1% chance of appearing from the Fall Egg.
There is also no pity system to guarantee the pet after a certain number of attempts. This means players could potentially open a large number of eggs without ever receiving Kitsune.
Despite the extremely low chance, Kitsune has an ability that makes it one of the most desirable pets in the update.
How the Kitsune Ability Works
Kitsune becomes active at night and searches for empty gardens belonging to other players. When it finds a suitable garden, it attempts to steal fruit and bring it back to its owner.
The pet checks for an empty garden every 5 to 10 seconds and has an 85% chance per check to attempt a steal. The target garden must be empty, meaning the player cannot currently be standing inside it.
After a successful steal, Kitsune takes around three seconds to deliver the fruit back. Once the fruit arrives, there is a 20% chance for it to receive the new Chakra mutation.
A successful steal then puts Kitsune on a 10-second cooldown. If the search fails, the cooldown is much shorter at around three seconds before Kitsune tries again.
This makes the pet somewhat similar to other stealing pets such as Raccoon, but Kitsune has a major advantage because of its ability to create Chakra-mutated fruit.
What Is the Chakra Mutation?
Chakra is a new mutation introduced alongside Kitsune. It has a 60x value multiplier, making it an extremely valuable mutation for fruit.
The mutation does not happen every time Kitsune successfully steals a fruit. Instead, each successful theft has around a 20% chance of producing Chakra.
A 60x multiplier is already extremely strong, especially when applied to valuable fruit. While Chakra is not necessarily the highest multiplier available in the entire game, it is still one of the most powerful mutations and can significantly increase the value of affected crops.
This is the main reason Kitsune is considered such a powerful pet. It is not simply stealing fruit for you. It also has the opportunity to turn those stolen fruits into much more valuable versions.
How to Get Kitsune in Grow a Garden 2
Kitsune cannot currently be obtained through the normal Seed Shop, Gear Shop, or Prop Shop. Instead, players need to use the Fall Egg system.
The problem is that the Fall Egg requires Robux, and Kitsune only has a 0.1% chance of appearing. Because there is no pity mechanic, obtaining the Secret pet is completely dependent on luck.
Red Panda also comes from the same Fall Egg with a 5% chance, while Jackalope and Scarecrow are also associated with the new Fall content.
Players who are not specifically hunting for a pet can also purchase the exclusive Fall Chest. These chests can contain rewards such as Legendary Fall Seed Packs and other Fall-themed items.
However, the cost of these premium items can add up quickly, so players should decide beforehand whether they want to focus on collecting pets or obtaining other Fall rewards.
Is Kitsune Worth Getting?
From an ability standpoint, Kitsune is absolutely one of the most impressive pets introduced in this update. Its ability to steal fruit is already useful, but the 20% chance of producing Chakra mutation makes it much more valuable.
The biggest problem is the 0.1% drop rate.
Without a pity system, there is no guarantee that spending a certain amount of Robux will result in a Kitsune. You could get lucky immediately, or you could spend a considerable amount without seeing one.
For regular players, it is probably not necessary to chase Kitsune at all costs. There are plenty of other pets that can help with progression without requiring such an extreme amount of luck.
For collectors and players who want the strongest or rarest pets available, however, Kitsune is one of the biggest targets in the current update.
Is Red Panda Better Than Fox?
Red Panda is essentially an upgraded version of the Fox’s stealing concept. Both pets can obtain resources from other players’ gardens, but Red Panda performs the action more frequently.
This makes Red Panda attractive for players who enjoy passive resource generation through stealing.
However, Fox remains a much more accessible option. Since Fox can be obtained using regular in-game currency, players do not need to spend Robux or rely on a 5% egg chance just to get a similar type of ability.
If you manage to obtain Red Panda, it can be a worthwhile upgrade. But there is no reason for players without one to immediately abandon Fox.
Jackalope vs Bunny
Jackalope is also a relatively straightforward upgrade over Bunny when it comes to movement speed.
The normal Jackalope provides around +7.5 Walk Speed, while Bunny provides approximately +5. This gives Jackalope a small advantage for players who spend a lot of time traveling around their garden or moving between different areas.
However, the difference is not large enough to justify spending a lot of Robux just to obtain Jackalope.
If you already have Bunny, it is perfectly fine to continue using it. Jackalope becomes more appealing if you naturally obtain it while opening Fall Eggs for other rewards.
Is the New Fall Egg Worth It?
The new Fall Egg is one of the most interesting additions to Grow a Garden 2 because it contains several pets with completely different purposes. Jackalope focuses on movement speed, Scarecrow protects your garden from thieves, Red Panda improves the seed-stealing mechanic, and Kitsune introduces a powerful new way to obtain mutated fruit.
Kitsune is clearly the biggest prize. Its Secret rarity, 0.1% drop chance, fruit-stealing ability, and access to the 60x Chakra mutation make it an extremely valuable pet.
However, the premium cost and incredibly low drop rate mean that it is not something every player should chase. Free-to-play players can still progress without it, while collectors and high-end players may consider it one of the most desirable pets available during the Fall event.
If you happen to get Kitsune, you will not only own one of the rarest pets from the update but potentially one of the most valuable pets for generating high-value fruit.
