Build a Base RNG Layout & How to Build the Best Beginner Base!

If you are new to Build a Base RNG and want a base that can survive deep into the waves, having the right layout is important. You do not need the rarest blocks or the strongest weapons to build a good defense. A smart structure can help your weapons cover more areas while keeping enemies away from the important parts of your base.

This beginner layout is designed to help new players reach Wave 300 and beyond. The exact weapons can be changed depending on what you own, so you can use the same basic structure even if you are still working toward better equipment.

Upgrade Your Plot Size First

Before building this layout, it is recommended to upgrade the base section in the upgrade tree and increase your plot size. A larger plot gives you more room to create the full structure.

The ideal version of this layout has around five blocks across the middle section. If your plot is smaller, you can reduce the size while keeping the same general design.

You do not need to use specific blocks for the structure. The important thing is to use the strongest blocks available to you.

Build the Main Structure

Start by clearing your existing plot so you can build the layout from the beginning. Begin with the central section of the base.

Create a small pattern using two blocks followed by one block on each side, including the diagonal sections. Repeat the same structure on the opposite side so the base is symmetrical.

After creating the first section, connect the lower parts together with additional blocks. Build the structure up to around two layers to create the basic defensive walls.

Try to keep the middle area open enough for your main weapons while using the surrounding blocks to guide enemies toward your defensive weapons.

Place Your Main Weapons

Once the basic structure is ready, start placing your weapons.

Your best weapons should be placed in the central area, where they can cover the most important sections of the base. In the example setup, Bamboo Shooters are used as the main weapons because they provide strong damage for a beginner setup.

You should adjust this depending on your inventory. If you have stronger weapons available, replace the Bamboo Shooters with them.

For the lower section, use your second-best weapon. Rusty Mortars are a good option because they provide useful coverage, but you can replace them with another weapon if you have something stronger.

Use Slime Cannons When Possible

Slime Cannons are one of the preferred weapons for this layout because they can provide strong defensive coverage.

Place your Slime Cannons across the upper sections of the base. Ideally, you want to create a balanced setup on both sides so enemies are attacked from multiple directions.

If you do not have enough Slime Cannons, do not worry. You can use other weapons such as Rusty Spear Barrels instead.

The important part is keeping your stronger weapons in positions where they can cover the paths enemies are most likely to take.

Add Tesla Weapons

Tesla weapons should be added around the central defensive area.

If you have enough space and multiple Teslas available, place them around the central weapon area. A good setup is to have a mortar or another strong weapon in the middle, with Teslas positioned on both sides.

Having multiple Teslas gives you additional defensive coverage and helps protect the central section of your base.

If you have a different Tesla level or fewer Teslas, simply adjust the arrangement to fit your available space.

Add Spikes or Barricades

The next step is to add defensive obstacles.

Barricades are the preferred option, but newer players may not have them unlocked yet. If you do not have barricades, use spikes instead.

If neither option is available, regular blocks can still work as a replacement. Use your strongest blocks to create walls and slow down enemies.

The purpose of these obstacles is to make enemies take longer to reach your weapons while giving your defensive equipment more time to attack them.

Add More Weapons Behind the Defense

After placing your barriers, add more weapons behind them.

If you have Slime Cannons available, they are a good choice for these positions. Place them across the additional blocks you added to the defensive structure.

You can also use Mortars in some of these positions if you need more coverage. The exact weapon combination depends on your inventory and how far you have progressed.

The general rule is simple: put your strongest weapons in the most important positions and use weaker weapons to fill the remaining spaces.

Recommended Beginner Layout

A basic version of the layout can be built using the following setup:

  • Strong blocks for the main structure
  • Five-block central section if your plot allows it
  • Two layers of defensive blocks
  • Best weapons in the middle
  • Second-best weapon toward the bottom
  • Slime Cannons on the upper sections
  • Teslas around the central area
  • Barricades in front of important weapons
  • Spikes as an alternative to barricades
  • Strong blocks as a backup defensive option
  • Mortars for additional coverage

You do not need to copy the exact weapons from another player’s base. The layout is more important than having identical equipment.

How to Improve the Layout

The biggest advantage of this setup is that it can be upgraded as you progress. When you obtain better weapons, simply replace the weaker ones without completely rebuilding the base.

For example, if you eventually get more Slime Cannons, replace weaker weapons with them. If you unlock a stronger defensive weapon than your current Tesla or Mortar, move it into one of the central positions.

You should also continue upgrading your plot size and block limit. More space allows you to expand the defensive structure and add additional weapons.

Can This Base Reach Wave 300?

Yes, this type of beginner layout is designed to help players reach Wave 300 and beyond, although your actual results will depend heavily on the weapons, blocks, and upgrades you have.

The layout itself gives your defenses good coverage, but stronger equipment will always make a major difference. A player with better weapons can push much further using the same structure.

If you are struggling to reach higher waves, focus on improving your weapons rather than completely changing the layout.

This Build a Base RNG layout is a good starting point for new players who want to push toward Wave 300. The design focuses on a strong central defense, multiple weapon layers, barriers, and good coverage around the base.

You do not need to own every weapon used in the example. Replace Slime Cannons, Mortars, Teslas, or other weapons with the best equipment available in your inventory while keeping the same overall structure. As you unlock stronger weapons and increase your plot size, continue upgrading the existing layout instead of rebuilding everything from scratch.
