You cannot simply throw three strong characters into the same team and expect them to perform well in every stage of My Hero Academia United Survival. Each team has three slots, and the best combination depends heavily on what you are fighting. Some stages are packed with mobs, while others put most of their difficulty into a single boss. Why Hawks and Deku Are So Useful
Two characters appear in several of the strongest teams: Hawks and Izuku Midoriya. Both are reliable picks, although they fill different roles.
Hawks is arguably the strongest main character for general use. His high movement speed makes it easier to avoid boss attacks, while his damage and mob-clearing abilities give him more utility than characters that only specialize in movement.
Izuku Midoriya, or Deku, is particularly useful as a sub character. He provides consistent damage without requiring you to constantly control him. Another advantage is that Deku is given to players during the tutorial, making him one of the easiest characters to build around.

Since Bakugo is being used as a sub character, he does not have to worry as much about manually avoiding every attack. This allows him to focus on dealing damage at close range.
This team may not match Toga’s boss burst, but it is much more flexible. It can handle mobs, bosses, and mixed stages without having an obvious weakness.
Best Team #3: Mob Melter
Some stages are less about defeating one powerful enemy and more about surviving repeated waves of smaller enemies. For those situations, a dedicated mob-clearing team can be much more effective.
- Main: Hawks — Fast movement and mob clearing
- Sub 1: Ochaco Uraraka — Area damage
- Sub 2: Present Mic — Area damage
Ochaco and Present Mic are both useful for dealing with groups, while Hawks adds another reliable source of damage and mobility. Together, they can clear large numbers of enemies quickly.
The downside is boss damage. If the final wave contains a powerful boss with a large health pool, this team may take longer to finish the fight than a setup built around Toga or another strong single-target damage dealer.
For stages that are mostly made up of mob waves, however, this is one of the strongest combinations to consider. If you know a boss is waiting at the end, you can replace one of the mob-focused characters with Deku for more consistent single-target damage.
Best Team #4: Area Denial Team
This setup revolves around Tomura Shigaraki and his ability to create dangerous areas for enemies to enter.
- Main: Hawks — Mobility and damage
- Sub 1: Izuku Midoriya — Consistent damage
- Sub 2: Tomura Shigaraki — Area control and defense reduction
The basic idea is to position yourself around Shigaraki’s Firecrackers. Enemies entering the affected area take damage before they can get close, making the setup especially useful when dealing with repeated enemy waves.
Shigaraki becomes even more useful with additional upgrades because his abilities can reduce enemy defense. Once that effect is active, Hawks and Deku can take advantage of the reduced defense to deal more damage.
The main drawback is that Shigaraki needs some investment before the setup reaches its full potential. However, after upgrading him properly, the team can provide a good combination of mob control and boss damage.
Best Team #5: Free-to-Play Team
Players who have not managed to obtain Hawks or other premium characters can still build an effective team.
- Main: Tenya Iida — High movement speed and evasion
- Sub 1: Izuku Midoriya — Consistent damage
- Sub 2: Himiko Toga — Burst damage
Tenya Iida is particularly useful for boss fights because of his extremely high movement speed. His damage output is not his main strength, but his speed makes avoiding attacks much easier.
Deku provides reliable damage and is available from the tutorial, while Toga adds burst damage through her Ultimate without requiring an enormous amount of investment.
The obvious weakness is Iida’s lack of damage and mob-clearing ability. Hawks is a better main character when you have access to him because he combines speed with stronger offensive capabilities. Until then, Iida remains a strong option for free-to-play players who need a character capable of safely dodging boss attacks.
Other Characters Worth Using
Not every useful character made it into the five main team compositions. Depending on the stage, several other characters can be valuable replacements.
Shota Aizawa is useful against bosses because he can reduce their movement speed. Slowing a boss can make its attacks easier to avoid and gives your main character more room to maneuver. He can also contribute some mob-clearing ability.
Tsuyu Asui is worth considering when survival is your biggest concern. She is currently the game’s main healing option, although her healing is tied to her Ultimate. Because of this, she works better as a safety net than as the centerpiece of a dedicated healing team.
All Might is a reliable option for stages with lots of smaller enemies. He does not necessarily need a complicated setup to contribute, making him a convenient replacement when you need additional mob-clearing power.
Endeavor is another useful choice for mixed content. His Ultimate can deal significant damage when he has enough levels, making him a decent sub character when you want a combination of offensive power and flexibility.
Which Team Should You Use?
The best team depends on the stage rather than simply choosing the three highest-ranked characters.
- For boss-only stages, Hawks, Deku, and Toga are the strongest choice from these setups because they combine safe movement, consistent damage, and burst.
- For general-purpose content, Hawks, Deku, and Bakugo are easier to recommend because the team can handle both mobs and bosses.
- For stages filled with enemy waves, Hawks, Ochaco, and Present Mic can clear groups quickly.
- If you want to use Shigaraki’s area-control mechanics, Hawks, Deku, and Shigaraki offer a strong combination of damage and defense reduction.
- For players without Hawks, Iida, Deku, and Toga provide a useful free-to-play alternative, especially when the main challenge is surviving boss attacks.
Ultimately, team building in My Hero Academia United Survival is about matching your characters to the stage. A team that dominates a boss fight may struggle against constant mob waves, while an excellent mob-clearing setup can fall short when a high-health boss appears. Building around the specific challenge will usually give you better results than using the same three characters everywhere.
