The roster is divided into four main categories: damage and control, tanks and bruisers, and supports and enablers. - Koichi Hirose – SSR: One of the best control characters thanks to his Reverb Act 2 abilities. He can create repeated AoE attacks, Immobilize enemies, reduce their Attack, and apply other useful effects.
- Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli – SSR: An excellent ranged damage dealer with strong AoE, penetrating attacks, Immobilize, and increased Attack Speed. His Hamon abilities are also useful against Vampires and Zombies.
- Jonathan Joestar – SSR: One of the strongest tanks because he can provide Shields, Damage Resistance, healing, and emergency protection to teammates.
- Ermes Costello – SSR: A powerful defensive character with Shields, Defense Up, ally protection, and Stun. She can also rescue teammates that are close to being defeated.
- Giorno Giovanna – SSR: A top-tier support who restores Energy, heals allies, provides Regeneration and Shields, and can increase the damage enemies take.
- Tonio Trendy – SR: Despite being an SR, Tonio is one of the best support characters because of his constant healing, debuff removal, Shield improvement, and Energy generation.
S Tier Characters
S-tier characters are excellent choices and can perform extremely well when their abilities are used correctly. Some have stronger advantages in specific situations than the S+ characters.
- Pet Shop – SR: Combines Freeze, Frostbite, AoE damage, and strong attacks against Chilled targets.
- N’Doul – SR: Provides heavy damage, Stun, Energy removal, Stealth detection, and defensive tools.
- Mohammed Avdol – SSR: Excellent against groups thanks to Burn, AoE attacks, Immobilize, and Energy generation from Burning enemies.
- Johngalli A. – SR: A strong single-target attacker with extremely high damage potential against durable enemies.
- Hol Horse – SR: Can produce excellent boss damage when allowed to complete his Ultimate without being interrupted.
- F.F. – SSR: Offers reliable sustained single-target damage through the Plankton Colony while also providing recovery.
- Cioccolata – SSR: Strong against groups and control-focused teams, with Mold Infection and effects that reduce enemy Effect Resistance.
- Bruno Bucciarati – SSR: A dangerous Arena character with Stealth, Energy drain, Stun, buff removal, and the ability to temporarily remove an enemy from combat.
- Santviento – SR: One of the strongest self-sustaining tanks, with healing and defensive scaling that makes him especially effective in longer battles.
- Robert E. O. Speedwagon – SR: A strong support who combines Shields, healing, Energy generation, and Attack Speed bonuses.
- Kenzou – SR: Improves team Critical Rate while applying defensive debuffs and Silence to enemies.
- Joseph Joestar – SR: A valuable setup support who can Stun, Immobilize, remove Stealth, and increase the damage enemies receive.
A Tier Characters
A-tier characters are still strong and can be excellent additions to the right team. Their lower placement usually comes from specific weaknesses, setup requirements, or a more limited role rather than poor performance.
- Pesci – R: Provides strong single-target control and can begin combat with a full Ultimate gauge.
- Viviano Westwood – SR: Strong against Burning targets and provides Stun, Defense reduction, and Attack buffs.
- Tarukus – SR: A powerful single-target attacker with Suppress, healing, Damage Amplification, and an execution effect.
- Sports Maxx – SR: Uses summoned corpses and debuffs to create additional damage opportunities.
- Secco – SR: Provides Ground control, Block Down, Defense Down, Damage Amplification, Shields, and healing.
- Prosciutto – SSR: Applies Senility across the enemy team and becomes especially dangerous when enemies are weakened.
- Narancia Ghirga – SR: Combines AoE damage, Burn, Immobilize, Damage Down, and Stealth removal.
- Melone – SR: Uses Babyhead as his primary attacker, providing Stealth, growth, and strong single-target pressure.
- Mario Zucchero – SR: Useful for removing Shields, removing buffs, and briefly disrupting dangerous targets.
- Guido Mista – SR: A reliable single-target ranged attacker with Defense penetration and Energy recovery.
- Formaggio – SR: Provides Stun, Shrink, Stealth, and a useful low-health recovery mechanic.
- Diavolo – SSR: A durable assassin with Stealth, Defense penetration, Energy restoration, and bonus damage against Isolated targets.
- Chaka – SR: Can build Attack and Attack Speed while providing Defense reduction and sustained damage.
- Akira Otoishi – SR: Drains enemy Energy and becomes stronger as the target’s Energy decreases.
- Bruford / Blueford – R: A useful budget attacker with Defense reduction, healing, and bonus damage against weakened enemies.
- Anjuro Katagiri – R: Uses Dampness to enable additional attacks and missing-HP damage across a wide area.
- Rudol von Stroheim – SR: A durable tank with Defense Up, Block Up, and strong self-healing.
- Leone Abbacchio – SR: Works well against predictable enemy targeting and can redirect attacks while generating defensive Shields.
- Ghiaccio – SR: Particularly useful against ranged enemies thanks to strong ranged damage resistance, Freeze, and Attack reduction.
- Will A. Zeppeli – SR: Provides healing, Energy restoration, Attack buffs, Stun, and Block reduction.
- Lisa Lisa – SR: A useful support and control character that can Stun enemies and accelerate the Energy generation of your strongest attacker.
- Lang Rangler – SR: Strong for ranged-focused teams, increasing ranged damage received while also providing Stun and Attack Speed bonuses.
B Tier Characters
B-tier characters can still contribute to a successful team, particularly when you are missing stronger units. However, they usually have more noticeable weaknesses or need very specific situations to perform well.
- Leaky Eye Luca – R: Provides simple AoE damage and can improve his offensive stats through assists.
- Straizo – R: Has some healing and line-based damage, but lacks strong control and team utility.
- Squalo – R: Provides Silence, Energy reduction, and enemy positioning control, although most of his value is focused on one target.
- Shigekiyo Yangu – R: Can drain large amounts of Energy and apply several debuffs, but his Ultimate is vulnerable to interruption.
- Sale – R: Has strong single-target damage and Immobilize but needs time to complete his main attack.
- Keicho Nijimura – SR: Uses summoned units to add extra bodies and damage to the battlefield, although his summons have limitations.

Best Damage and Control Characters
For damage and crowd control, Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli and Koichi Hirose currently stand above the rest. Caesar is an excellent choice when you need reliable ranged damage, while Koichi provides a mixture of AoE pressure and crowd control.
- Caesar’s Bubble Cutter Gliding gives him penetrating attacks and improves his Attack Speed as the ability develops. Bubble Lenses adds ricocheting AoE damage, while Bubble Barrier can provide reliable Immobilize. His Hamon advantage also gives him additional value against Vampire and Zombie enemies.
- Koichi is more dependent on setup but can have a major impact when his abilities are activated correctly. His Onomatopoeia can turn an allied unit into the center of repeated AoE attacks, while Smack provides Immobilize against enemies entering the affected area. He can also apply useful debuffs and increase the effectiveness of control-heavy teams.
Other strong damage and control options include Pet Shop, Mohammed Avdol, Bruno Bucciarati, N’Doul, Johngalli A., F.F., Cioccolata, and Hol Horse.
Best Tank Characters
For the tank role, Jonathan Joestar and Ermes Costello are the strongest overall choices.
- Jonathan focuses heavily on protecting his team. Overdrive can give nearby allies Shields and Damage Resistance, while True Gentleman shares some of his healing with teammates. His emergency protection ability can also save an ally from lethal damage and redirect the attack toward Jonathan.
- Ermes offers a different defensive style built around powerful Shields. She can protect herself, improve her Defense, rescue a low-health ally with a large Shield, and Stun nearby enemies. Her ability to protect teammates makes her especially useful when the rest of your squad is vulnerable.
- Santviento is another excellent option, especially when you want a tank that can survive without relying heavily on teammates. His healing and defensive scaling allow him to remain active through long battles.
Best Support and Enabler Characters
- Giorno Giovanna is currently one of the best support characters in Golden Spirit. His abilities can restore Energy to the team, heal allies, provide Regeneration and Shields, and even increase the damage enemies receive. This combination makes him useful in many different team compositions.
- Tonio Trendy is arguably the best pure healer. His Italian Cuisine ability provides continuous healing to nearby allies, while his skills can remove multiple debuffs. He can also improve incoming healing and Shields and provide Energy over time.
- Joseph Joestar is another excellent support because he focuses on setting enemies up for your damage dealers. His abilities can Stun and Immobilize enemies, remove Stealth, and increase the damage they receive. This makes him particularly useful when paired with strong AoE attackers.
Robert E. O. Speedwagon and Kenzou are also strong support choices. Speedwagon focuses on Shields, healing, and Energy generation, while Kenzou improves Critical Rate and creates opportunities for increased damage against priority targets.
Best Team Comp in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit
A strong all-around team based on the current rankings is:

This lineup covers most of the important areas needed for general progression. Jonathan provides frontline protection, Caesar supplies consistent ranged damage, Koichi handles AoE and crowd control, Joseph creates openings with his debuffs and control effects, and Giorno keeps the team healthy while providing Energy and additional utility.
The exact team you should use can still change depending on the game mode. For example, a boss fight may benefit more from characters with powerful single-target attacks, while waves of weaker enemies make AoE and crowd control more valuable. Arena battles can also favor characters with Stealth, Stun, Silence, or other disruptive abilities.
The strongest Golden Spirit team is not always made by simply filling every slot with SSR characters. The current roster has several SR and R characters that provide excellent utility, and some of them can be more useful than higher-rarity units when their abilities fit your strategy.
