Catch a Monster Update Guide 0.44, New Codes & More!
The latest Catch a Monster update brings several useful changes that make progression much easier while also adding new content for players to explore. This week’s update introduces a new dungeon difficulty, a new Scare Reaper evolution, the return of the digging event, breeding improvements, new achievements, and several quality-of-life changes. Most importantly, dungeons no longer require keys, making them much more accessible for players who want to farm their rewards.
New Catch a Monster Codes

Before getting into the new features, there are five new codes available in this update. These codes can provide useful rewards, so it is worth redeeming all of them before they expire. The codes introduced with the update are:
- Celestial
- EvoBug
- Scared
- ForgeBug
- RollBK
Make sure to enter each code exactly as provided in the game’s code redemption menu. Since Roblox game codes can be changed or removed by the developers, players should redeem them as soon as possible rather than saving them for later.
The Digging Event Returns

The Digging Event has returned to Catch a Monster, giving players another way to collect rewards while playing through the game. The basic system remains similar to the previous version of the event. Instead of directly receiving digging attempts from battles, you need to collect Straw Coins, exchange them for shovels, and then use those shovels to search through a reward grid.
Straw Coins can be obtained by defeating monsters and bosses throughout the game. You can then spend those coins on shovels, which are used to uncover different spots on the event grid. Each dig consumes a shovel, and hidden rewards can appear underneath the tiles.
Some of the rewards can include valuable items such as Gem Boxes, making the event worthwhile if you have enough shovels to keep digging. There is also an additional way to earn Straw Coins without constantly fighting enemies.
Players can receive Straw Coins simply by staying online for a total of two hours per day. If you’re planning to participate in the event, make sure you take advantage of this daily online reward so you can maximize the number of digs available to you.
For players who want more Straw Coins immediately, the event also includes an option to purchase them with Robux. This is completely optional, but it gives players another way to obtain additional shovels if they want to progress through the event faster.
Scare Reaper Evolution: Scarecrow Harvest

One of the biggest additions in this update is a brand-new evolution for Scare Reaper. The evolution is called Scarecrow Harvest, and getting it requires several materials from the new island and enhanced gems.
To attempt the evolution, you need:
- 12 Water Guns
- 15 Enhanced Earth Gems
- 15 Enhanced Fire Gems
- An additional 5 Earth or Fire Gems
The Water Guns can be obtained from Rain Imp, which can be found on the new island. Once you have the required materials, you can use them for the evolution attempt. Adding the extra five Earth or Fire Gems gives you a little over a 20% chance of obtaining the new evolution.
Scarecrow Harvest also comes with a strong combination of attacks and a useful team passive, making it an interesting option for players who already have Scare Reaper and want to improve its overall performance.
Scarecrow Harvest Abilities
The new evolution has several abilities that focus on attacking multiple enemies while also providing a critical-hit benefit to the entire team.
- Reaper’s Crescent: Performs four slashes, with each slash dealing increasing damage to enemies caught in its path.
- Soul Reaper Chain: Strikes enemies and applies one stack of Poison.
- Critical Chance: Increases the team’s critical chance by 30% while Scarecrow Harvest is equipped.
The combination of multi-hit attacks, Poison application, and the critical chance passive gives Scarecrow Harvest a useful role for teams that benefit heavily from critical hits. The evolution is especially interesting for players who want to increase their team’s overall damage rather than relying entirely on one pet for attacks.
New Cataclysm Dungeon Difficulty

Dungeons have received one of the most important changes in this update with the introduction of the new Cataclysm difficulty. This gives experienced players another challenge to tackle while also adding new content to collect.
The rewards are generally similar to the existing dungeon rewards, but Cataclysm introduces a new slate and a brand-new boss called Celestian. The boss has its own attacks and abilities, making the new difficulty more than just a simple increase in enemy strength.
Another major improvement is that dungeons no longer require keys to enter. This is a significant quality-of-life change because players can now access dungeon content without having to constantly worry about collecting enough keys beforehand.
Celestian Boss Abilities
Celestian is the new boss associated with the Cataclysm dungeon and has several abilities designed around damage, debuffs, and team support.
- Soul Slash: Releases multiple surrounding slashes that deal damage and apply the Vulnerable debuff to enemies.
- Holy Aura: Creates an aura that shields and strengthens all pets.
- Critical Damage: Increases the critical damage dealt by your pets by 60% while Celestian is on your team.
The Critical Damage passive makes Celestian particularly interesting for teams that already have strong critical-hit mechanics. Combined with Scarecrow Harvest’s Critical Chance passive, players may be able to build teams that focus heavily on increasing both critical rate and critical damage.
Breeding Time and Cost Changes

Breeding has also received an important quality-of-life adjustment. Previously, breeding took longer to complete, which meant players had to wait before starting another breeding cycle. With this update, the standard breeding time has been reduced from four hours to two hours.
This means players can complete breeding attempts twice as quickly compared with the previous system. The update also reduces the cost required to skip breeding, making it less expensive for players who do not want to wait for the timer.
The changes should make breeding feel less restrictive, especially for players who regularly experiment with different pet combinations. Instead of waiting four hours between attempts, you can now get through the breeding process in only two hours.
Rift 1 and Rift 2 Exclusive Pets Move to Memory Chests
Another useful change affects Rift-exclusive pets. Pets that were previously found in Rift 1 and Rift 2 have now been moved into Memory Chests.
The reason for this change is that only Rift 3 pets will now spawn on islands. This should make the current island pool less crowded and give Rift 3 pets a clearer place in the game’s progression.
For collectors, moving the older exclusive pets into Memory Chests also means they are not simply disappearing from the game. Players can still work toward obtaining them through the new system while the islands focus on the newer Rift 3 content.
New Secret Gear and Achievements
The update also adds a brand-new Secret Gear for pets. While the main focus of the update is on the new dungeon, Scare Reaper evolution, and digging event, the additional gear gives players another collectible to pursue.
New achievements have also been added. These provide extra objectives for players who want something beyond regular progression. Completing achievements can be especially useful for completionists because they encourage you to explore different parts of the game instead of repeatedly focusing on the same activities.
Admin Abuse Schedule
Admin Abuse is also returning as part of the update schedule. This time, the developers are planning to hold the event across two different time zones, giving players from different regions a better chance of participating.
Because Admin Abuse events can be time-sensitive, players should keep an eye on the game’s official announcements and event schedule for the exact times. If you normally miss these events because they happen outside your local play hours, the two-time-zone schedule should make participation easier.
The latest Catch a Monster update is focused heavily on making the game more convenient while still giving experienced players new goals to chase. The biggest improvements are arguably the removal of dungeon keys and the reduction of breeding time from four hours to two, since both changes directly reduce some of the waiting and resource restrictions players previously had to deal with. On top of those improvements, the Cataclysm dungeon, Celestian, Scarecrow Harvest, Digging Event, new Secret Gear, achievements, and Rift pet changes give players plenty of reasons to return.
Whether you’re interested in collecting new pets, improving your team, farming event rewards, or simply making progression less time-consuming, there is something useful in this update. The long-term value will depend on what the developers add next, but for now, these quality-of-life changes make Catch a Monster a little easier and more enjoyable to play.
