Anime Origins Secret Units Guide: How to Get Valcrad, Madaro, and Cursed Lover

Anime Origins has plenty of units to collect, but the Secret Units are among the hardest and strongest characters you can obtain. These units are much rarer than standard characters and can take a lot of grinding, luck, or progression before you can finally add them to your collection. There are currently three base Secret Units to hunt for: Valcrad, Madaro, and Cursed Lover.

Each Secret Unit also has an evolved form, giving you six Secret entries in total when counting their upgraded versions. If you are trying to complete the Unit Index or build a powerful team for difficult content, here is how you can obtain every Secret Unit currently available in Anime Origins.

What Are the Secret Units in Anime Origins?

At the time of writing, Anime Origins has three base Secret Units: Valcrad, Madaro, and Cursed Lover. They are some of the rarest units in the game and are based on popular anime characters. Valcrad takes inspiration from Alucard from Hellsing, Madaro is based on Madara from Naruto, while Cursed Lover draws inspiration from Yuta from Jujutsu Kaisen.

You can check the available Secret Units through the Unit Index. To access it, go to the Summoning Room and speak with Raiden, the NPC located on the right side of the room. The Summoning Room is easy to spot because it is positioned between the Story and Raid rooms and can be reached shortly after spawning into the game.

Interestingly, the Unit Index displays six Secret Units instead of three. This is because every current Secret Unit has an evolved version that counts as a separate entry. The available evolutions are:

• Valcrad → Valcrad Unleashed
• Madaro → Madaro (Edo Tensei)
• Cursed Lover → Cursed Lover (Pure Love)

These evolved versions are considerably stronger than their original forms and receive more powerful abilities. Once you obtain one of the base Secret Units, you can work toward its evolution.

To begin the evolution process, enter the Evolve Room, which is located between the Challenge and Leaderboard rooms. Speak with Mokito inside the room to see the requirements and start upgrading your Secret Unit.

How to Get Valcrad in Anime Origins

Valcrad is obtained through the Summoning system, making this Secret Unit heavily dependent on luck. Before you can have a chance of pulling him, you need to reach at least Level 10. Once you meet the level requirement, you can start spending Gems on summons.

There are two ways to reach the Summoning system. You can select the Summon button on the left side of the screen or physically travel to the Summoning Room. Once there, speak to Mysa, the NPC standing in the center of the room, to open the summoning menu.

The biggest problem is Valcrad’s extremely low drop chance. His current chance is only 0.01%, so getting him from a single summon is highly unlikely. You should therefore expect to spend a significant amount of time collecting Gems and performing multiple summons.

There are several ways to build up your Gem supply in Anime Origins, including:

• Completing quests and claiming their rewards.
• Collecting daily login rewards.
• Redeeming playtime rewards.
• Progressing through the Battle Pass by defeating enemies.
• Farming rewards inside the AFK Chamber.
• Playing regular Story content.
• Completing Raid stages.
• Taking part in other activities that provide Gems.

Because the drop rate is so low, it is better to treat Valcrad as a long-term farming goal rather than expecting to get him quickly. Save your Gems whenever possible and use them when you have enough for multiple summons.

How to Unlock Madaro in Anime Origins

Madaro is obtained differently from Valcrad. Instead of summoning for him, you need to progress through the Legend stages in Story Mode and hope that he appears as a reward after completing a stage.

The important part is that Legend stages are not available immediately. You first need to complete all regular Story stages before you can access this more difficult content. This means newer players will need to spend considerable time progressing through the main Story before they can even begin farming for Madaro.

Legend stages are also some of the more challenging content in Anime Origins. Make sure your team is strong enough before spending too much time farming them, as struggling to clear the stages will make the process considerably slower.

To enter Story Mode, press the Play button on the left side of your screen and choose the Story option in the middle. You can also walk directly to the Story Room. Inside, you will find different portals positioned around the room’s walls, with each portal taking you to a different stage.

Once Legend stages become available, continue clearing them and check the rewards after each successful run. Madaro is a rare reward, so you may need to repeat these stages several times before getting him.

How to Get Cursed Lover in Anime Origins

Cursed Lover is tied to Rifts, making this Secret Unit another character that requires both patience and some luck. Rifts are special portals that can randomly appear throughout the Anime Origins map.

Unlike Valcrad, you do not need to repeatedly spend Gems on summons to obtain Cursed Lover. Instead, you need to participate in Rifts and progress as far as possible inside them while hoping that the Secret Unit drops.

You can monitor when a Rift is about to appear by checking the bottom-right corner of your screen. A countdown timer will appear when the next Rift is approaching, giving you an opportunity to prepare before it spawns.

The exact Cursed Lover drop rate has not been clearly established, but your chances appear to improve the further you progress through the Rift. Because of this, simply entering a Rift is not enough. You should focus on surviving and pushing deeper whenever possible.

A good approach is to make sure your strongest units are ready before entering a Rift. The farther you can progress, the better your opportunity to obtain the Cursed Lover reward.

How to Get the Secret Unit Evolutions

Getting the base Secret Units is only the first step if you want to complete all six Secret entries in the Unit Index. Each of the three Secret Units has an evolved form that provides a significant power increase.

The evolution paths currently available are:

• Valcrad becomes Valcrad Unleashed.
• Madaro becomes Madaro (Edo Tensei).
• Cursed Lover becomes Cursed Lover (Pure Love).

You must first obtain the corresponding base unit before you can work toward its evolution. After that, visit the Evolve Room and speak with Mokito to view the requirements for the upgrade.

The evolved versions are worth pursuing because they are not simply cosmetic upgrades. They gain stronger abilities and can become some of the most powerful units available in Anime Origins. If you are already investing time into obtaining a Secret Unit, continuing toward its evolved form can make that investment much more valuable.

Best Way to Farm All Secret Units

Since each Secret Unit comes from a different activity, there is no single farming method that works for all of them. The most efficient approach is to work on multiple goals at the same time instead of focusing exclusively on one character.

• For Valcrad, prioritize activities that give you Gems. Complete quests, claim daily and playtime rewards, use the AFK Chamber, and continue playing Story and Raid content. Your goal is to build enough Gems for repeated summons.
• For Madaro, focus entirely on Story progression until all regular stages are completed. Once Legend stages unlock, make sure your team is strong enough to clear them consistently before farming for the Secret Unit.
• For Cursed Lover, keep an eye on the Rift timer and join every Rift you can reasonably complete. Since the drop appears to become more favorable with deeper progression, focus on pushing as far into each Rift as possible.

After obtaining any of the three base Secret Units, shift your attention toward the Evolve Room and check Mokito for the requirements needed to unlock the stronger version.

The Secret Units in Anime Origins are designed to be difficult to obtain, but they can be well worth the effort because of their rarity and power. Valcrad requires luck through the Summoning system, Madaro comes from farming Legend Story stages, and Cursed Lover can be obtained through Rifts.

Remember that there are currently six Secret entries in the Unit Index because the three base units each have an evolved form. Once you finally obtain a Secret Unit, do not stop there if you want to maximize its potential. Visit Mokito in the Evolve Room and work toward unlocking Valcrad Unleashed, Madaro (Edo Tensei), or Cursed Lover (Pure Love) to build an even stronger team.
