The Shadow Sword is one of the weapons you can unlock in Lineage Piece, but getting it requires completing several quests, collecting expensive materials, and farming Cid’s Castle multiple times.

The grind does not end after obtaining the weapon either, because you can complete additional mastery quests to unlock its full potential and the special arm move. This guide covers the complete Shadow Sword questline, including the materials you need, where to farm them, and every requirement for reaching full mastery.

Start the Shadow Sword Quest on Frostborn Island

Your Shadow Sword journey begins on Frostborn Island. Once you arrive, look for the Shadow NPC and speak with them to start the questline.

The first objective is not to obtain Shadow Sword directly. Instead, you need to unlock a weapon called Stylish Bandit Slayer, which is required for the next part of the quest. After accepting the quest, head back to Starter Island and look for the Sid NPC.

Get Stylish Bandit Slayer

Sid will give you the first major task in the Shadow Sword progression. You need to collect two Crowbars before you can receive Stylish Bandit Slayer. Once you have both Crowbars, return to Sid with the required currency. You will need:

  • 2 Crowbars
  • 150,000 Coins
  • 600 Gems

Give the required items and currency to Sid, and you will receive Stylish Bandit Slayer. Make sure you keep this weapon because it is needed for the following quest.

Defeat 100 NPCs With Stylish Bandit Slayer

After obtaining Stylish Bandit Slayer, your next objective is to use it against 100 NPCs. The important part here is making sure you are actually using the required weapon when getting your kills. If you use another weapon, those defeats may not count toward the quest.

You can choose a suitable NPC farming area and work through the requirement until you reach all 100 kills. Once the counter is complete, you can move on to the next stage.

Complete Sid’s Castle Five Times

After getting the 100 kills, you will need to clear Sid’s Castle five times. The requirement can be completed on:

  • Medium
  • Hard
  • Extreme

This is an important part of the questline because Sid’s Castle becomes relevant again later when you start working on Shadow Sword mastery. Once you have completed the castle requirement, return to the Shadow NPC on Frostborn Island to continue the quest.

Materials Needed for Shadow Sword

After completing the earlier objectives, the Shadow NPC will give you the requirements needed to actually unlock the weapon. You need to collect:

  • 100 Black Slime
  • 6 Shadow Fragments
  • 12 Shadow Orbs
  • 2 Atomic Orbs
  • 7,500,000 Coins
  • 15,000 Gems

This is where most of the material grinding begins.

The required materials can be obtained through Sid’s Castle raids, so you should prepare to run the raid multiple times. Since you will need to return to Sid’s Castle again for mastery later, learning the raid and getting comfortable with its mechanics can save you time.

How to Get Shadow Sword

Once you have all of the required materials and currency, return to the Shadow NPC on Frostborn Island. Hand over all of the requirements and the Shadow NPC will reward you with the Shadow Sword. At this point, you have successfully unlocked the weapon, but there is still another questline available if you want to fully master it.

1. Start Shadow Sword Mastery

After obtaining Shadow Sword, find the Shadow Mastery NPC to begin the weapon’s mastery quests. The mastery progression contains several objectives, so make sure you are prepared for another round of grinding. The first requirement focuses on damage dealt with Shadow Sword.

2. Deal 10 Million Damage With Shadow Sword

Your first mastery objective is to deal a total of 10,000,000 damage using Shadow Sword. Equip Shadow Sword and fight enemies until you reach the required damage amount.

There is no need to rush this part. You can combine this objective with normal farming or other activities that require you to fight enemies, allowing you to make progress toward mastery while also working on other goals.

3. Equip the Eminence Race

After completing the damage requirement, the next mastery quest requires you to equip the Eminence Race. You can obtain the race through the Race Reroll NPC. Once you have the Eminence Race equipped, continue with the next mastery requirement.

4. Equip Eminence and Shadow Titles

The following objective requires you to equip both the Eminence and Shadow titles. Make sure both titles are properly equipped before moving forward. If the quest does not progress, check that you are using the required titles rather than simply having them unlocked. After completing this requirement, the mastery questline moves into another combat challenge.

5. Defeat 35 Bosses

You will then need to defeat 35 bosses. This can take some time if you simply fight difficult bosses one after another, so using an easier boss farming method can make the requirement much more manageable. One recommended option is Legends Arena. You can repeatedly summon easier bosses there and work toward the required 35 defeats. The important thing is to keep track of your progress until the boss counter reaches 35.

6. Complete Sid’s Castle 15 Times

The final Shadow Sword mastery requirement sends you back to Sid’s Castle.

This time, you need to complete the castle 15 times on either:

  • Hard
  • Extreme

This is one of the longest parts of the mastery grind, especially if you are still learning the raid. Since you already need Sid’s Castle for the original Shadow Sword materials, it is a good idea to farm efficiently and become familiar with the raid as early as possible.

You can also work toward collecting other useful materials while completing these runs.

Shadow Sword Mastery Rewards

Once every mastery requirement has been completed, you will have fully mastered the Shadow Sword.

Completing the final mastery objective unlocks the weapon’s special arm move, giving you an additional ability to use after finishing the entire progression.

The full process is therefore much longer than simply collecting the sword itself, but completing the mastery quests gives you an extra reason to continue farming after the initial unlock.

Getting Shadow Sword in Lineage Piece is a long process, but the requirements are straightforward once you know the order. The biggest parts of the grind are collecting the required materials, completing Sid’s Castle, and gathering enough Coins and Gems to finish the weapon quest.

After unlocking the sword, you can continue with its mastery by dealing 10 million damage, using the Eminence Race and required titles, defeating 35 bosses, and completing Sid’s Castle another 15 times on Hard or Extreme.

If you are planning to unlock Shadow Sword, it is worth getting comfortable with Sid’s Castle early, since the raid plays a major role in both obtaining the weapon and completing its final mastery requirement. Because Sid’s Castle is required for both the weapon and mastery, planning your runs around the five initial clears and fifteen Hard or Extreme clears can reduce repeated farming.
