Anime Squadron Tier List – Best Units Ranked!
Picking the right units in Anime Squadron can make a huge difference, especially when you’re trying to clear story stages, farm materials, complete raids, or push difficult challenge content. While many units are usable during the early game, some characters clearly stand above the rest thanks to their damage output, speed, utility, and upgrade potential.
Based on early game testing and community feedback, this tier list ranks the strongest units currently available in Anime Squadron. Keep in mind that future updates, balance changes, and new units may affect these rankings.
Anime Squadron Tier List Explained
The rankings below focus on how well each unit performs in actual gameplay rather than simply looking at rarity or how difficult the character is to obtain. A unit can rank highly because of its DPS, support abilities, healing, crowd control, tanking, economy, or ability to work well with other powerful characters.
Here is what each tier means:
- S Tier: The strongest units in the current meta. These characters are excellent choices for endgame content and should be prioritized whenever possible.
- A Tier: Excellent units that remain useful throughout most of the game. They may have some limitations compared to S Tier characters but are still strong investments.
- B Tier: Good or situational units that can perform well in specific modes, teams, or stages. They are especially useful during early and mid-game progression.
- C Tier: Outclassed or older units that can still work, but should generally be replaced once better options become available.
- D Tier: Starter-level units that are mainly useful when you have very few choices. Avoid spending too many resources on them.
S Tier – Meta-Defining Units
S Tier contains the strongest Anime Squadron units currently available. These characters offer excellent damage, support, survivability, crowd control, or economy and can remain useful well into the endgame.
Diro (The World)
Role: DPS, Control
Diro is one of the best overall carries in Anime Squadron. His Deceleration effect slows enemy attack and ability tempo, while his Acceleration stacks can permanently reduce his cooldowns. This gives him excellent sustained damage without sacrificing his utility.
His Stolen Time ability also increases his attack potential and provides self-healing, allowing him to stay active for longer. For players looking for a dependable main DPS that can also provide control, Diro should be one of the highest priorities.
Sakuna (Curse)
Role: DPS, Execute
Sakuna is another top-tier damage dealer thanks to his Overwhelm mechanic. At maximum stacks, he receives a huge damage increase alongside significant cooldown reduction, allowing his damage output to scale dramatically.
His Dismantle ability can also execute normal enemies once they fall below the required health threshold. Sakuna does require some planning because of his restrictions around external healing and buffs, but a properly built team can make him extremely powerful.
Yuto (Curse Spirit)
Role: DPS, Support, Tank
Yuto has a unique ability to copy the damage statistics of the strongest ally. This means his usefulness naturally increases as your account obtains stronger carries.
He also provides defensive utility through Delayed Onset, creating a temporary protection window that can prevent an ally from being defeated. Because he combines damage copying with support and tank utility, Yuto has a lot of value in high-level teams.
Goju (Six Eyes)
Role: DPS, Tank
Goju has one of the highest potential boss damage ceilings in the roster when properly supported. His Full Curse mechanic allows him to build Corruption while redirecting incoming damage through nearby allies.
His Red and Blue modes provide additional offensive and defensive options, while Hollow Purple gives him a powerful burst attack. He requires more setup than some other S Tier carries, but his performance can be exceptional in the right composition.
Rizzuto (Six Path)
Role: DPS, Tank, Support
Rizzuto is one of the best all-round units to invest in. His Sage Charges increase his personal damage while also providing a Nature-based team aura.
His clones can deal additional damage and participate in United Assault follow-ups. He also brings healing, range, and defensive benefits to the team, making him useful in several different roles instead of being limited to pure DPS.
3B (YaRHa)
Role: Support, DPS
3B is one of the most valuable support units because of her powerful Defense reduction. Reducing enemy Defense across the team can dramatically increase the effectiveness of your main damage dealers.
Her Weak Spot mechanic can also increase her own damage, while her cooldown system rewards teams that can repeatedly maintain her debuffs. She is especially valuable in endgame compositions where every percentage of damage amplification matters.
Nazaka (Berserk)
Role: Support, Healer
Nazaka is one of the safest support choices in the current meta. She provides healing, debuff cleansing, enemy Accuracy reduction, and emergency defensive utility.
Her healing can activate when there are no debuffs to remove, making her useful even when the stage does not heavily rely on status effects. Nazaka is an excellent choice for players who want to make difficult runs more consistent.
Fastwagon
Role: Economy
Fastwagon may not deal meaningful damage, but its economy bonuses make it one of the most important units for progression. It increases Yen generation while remaining active and can provide additional Yen when defeated.
Unlike some economy units that require specific kill conditions or complicated setups, Fastwagon provides value almost immediately. If you are building expensive endgame units, having Fastwagon can make the process much easier.
A Tier – Excellent Units
A Tier units are still excellent investments and can perform extremely well in endgame content. They generally have a more specific role, require more setup, or are slightly outperformed by the current S Tier options.
Jotoro (Platinum)
Role: DPS, Boss
Jotoro is a strong single-target damage dealer with a kit built around critical hits and cooldown reduction. His Crit mechanics can significantly increase his attack frequency, while Buildup allows him to continue improving against a selected target.
His biggest drawback is the large investment required to reach his full potential. He is particularly valuable against bosses but is less universally useful than Diro or Sakuna.
Madora (Six Path)
Role: DPS, DoT, Leader
Madora combines Burn, meteors, True Damage, and strong burst abilities. His Chakra Overflow temporarily improves his cooldowns, Burn performance, and meteor frequency.
Meteor Crash also gives him a powerful burst attack. Although newer carries can offer faster scaling, Madora remains useful in long modes and teams that benefit from his leader bonuses.
Mighty Guy (8th Gate)
Role: DPS, Control
Mighty Guy becomes increasingly dangerous as he activates his Eight Gates mechanics. He gains major cooldown and ability damage improvements, along with True Damage and follow-up attacks.
The main weakness is his ramp-up time and health drain after reaching the highest Gate. This makes him more attractive in long battles than short encounters where immediate damage is more important.
Tsanada (Hakage)
Role: Support, Healer, Control
Tsanada is a powerful hybrid support that combines healing, crowd control, damage buffs, and revival. Her Hundred Healings state improves her stun frequency while also increasing ability damage.
Her attacks can heal allies within range, while Medical Jutsu can revive an ally with temporary immunity. She is particularly valuable in teams that need both survivability and control.
Rogna (Ice Dragon)
Role: Control, Support
Rogna specializes in freezing enemies and creating powerful control windows. Freeze can stop enemy movement and attacks while also increasing the damage they receive.
Multiple Rogna units can extend this effect and provide additional Critical Damage bonuses. The main weakness is that enemies with Freeze immunity can greatly reduce his effectiveness.
Meto (One Eyed)
Role: Support, Boss
Meto is primarily a boss debuffer. His Analyze stacks gradually make bosses take more damage while reducing their Defense and increasing team Critical Chance.
He can also gain additional elemental resistance penetration and personal damage through Hunted stacks. His slow buildup and single-target focus keep him below the strongest universal supports, but he remains excellent against bosses.
Kagaya (Resurrected)
Role: Support, DPS
Kagaya can become extremely powerful when his team satisfies the required status and elemental conditions. With enough unique statuses and elements, he gains major damage, ability damage, Critical Chance, and Critical Damage bonuses.
The problem is that building around all of those requirements can restrict your team composition. When the conditions are met, however, Kagaya can provide tremendous value.
Kashima (God of Lightning)
Role: Tank, Support, Control
Kashima is an effective frontline unit that turns incoming attacks into crowd control opportunities. After receiving enough hits, he can trigger an area stun and enter a stronger Conductor state.
His Electrified targets also take additional damage from the team. Kashima performs best when enemies consistently attack him, so stages where enemies avoid the frontline can reduce his effectiveness.
Jaseph (Old)
Role: Support, Control
Jaseph provides strong defensive utility by improving team Accuracy while reducing enemy Accuracy. His Hamon Conductor ability can also completely remove an enemy’s Dodge temporarily.
This makes him particularly useful against evasive enemies. Although he does not provide the same raw amplification as 3B, he can be an excellent counter to stages built around Dodge.
Avdal (Hell To You)
Role: Tank, Support, DoT
Avdal is a powerful frontline option for Burn-focused teams. Burn heals rather than damages him, while he deals additional damage to Burning enemies.
He can also provide Defense and damage redirection to nearby allies when enough Burning enemies are present. His value falls when your team cannot reliably maintain Burn on enemies.
Bralu (Legendary)
Role: DPS, Tank, Leader
Bralu is a strong and relatively accessible carry. His Rage mechanic increases his damage, attack speed, ability speed, and Thorns.
He can also become resistant to crowd control and debuffs later in his progression. His leader skill remains useful, giving him value even when newer damage dealers are available.
Akoza (Demon)
Role: DPS, Boss, Tank
Akoza specializes in fighting bosses and breaking through shields. His Battle Excitement stacks greatly increase his damage and attack speed while also giving him access to Poison and additional defensive effects.
His Weak Point mechanic makes his Poison particularly effective against shields. While he is not as universally powerful as the top S Tier carries, he still has a clear role in boss-focused teams.
Kan (Ghoul)
Role: DPS, DoT, Boss
Kan relies on Bleed and a gradual ramp-up to reach his maximum damage. Bleed Frenzy reduces his cooldown while increasing Bleed damage, while other abilities can further improve his damage output.
The downside is that Kan’s mechanics encourage focusing on a single target and require specific conditions to reach maximum performance. Once fully prepared, however, he can be a strong boss DPS.
Gometa (Blue)
Role: DPS, Boss, Leader
Gometa (Blue) is a strong boss and flying-target specialist. His alternating attacks gradually build a shared combo that unlocks additional healing, ability effects, Dodge, and Burn capacity.
His Meteor Explosion gives him strong burst damage, while his leader bonuses continue to provide useful team benefits. His slow kill-based scaling prevents him from reaching S Tier.
Gometa (SSJ4)
Role: DPS, Tank, Leader
Gometa (SSJ4) remains a very good investment despite no longer being the automatic best carry. He provides reliable self-scaling, strong survivability, and useful leader bonuses.
His main advantage is consistency. He is easier to use than many condition-heavy Secret units, making him a dependable choice for a wide range of teams.
Saske (Susanoo)
Role: DPS, DoT, Tank
Saske focuses heavily on Critical Hits and Black Flames. Every fifth attack guarantees a Crit, and these Critical Hits apply a strong damage-over-time effect while reducing enemy regeneration.
His War Armor mechanic further increases his damage and ability damage. He is particularly useful in teams that already use Burn and Bleed effects.
Puppeteer (Transcendent)
Role: Tank, DPS
Puppeteer is a durable frontline unit with regeneration, Confusion, and Overhealth mechanics. He becomes more dangerous as he accumulates additional health and can convert some of that defensive advantage into offensive power.
Rizzuto provides more overall team value, but Puppeteer remains a straightforward and reliable tank for players who want a sturdy frontline unit.
Baras (Meteoric Burst)
Role: DPS, Boss
Baras specializes in single-target boss damage. He builds Critical Chance against high-health targets and can improve Critical Damage and cooldown performance as the fight continues.
His mechanics are less effective when enemies switch targets frequently or when crowd clearing is more important, but against bosses he remains a strong specialist.
Berserker (Enraged)
Role: DPS, DoT, Tank
Berserker becomes stronger as his health decreases. Missing health directly increases his damage, while lower health can also improve his cooldowns.
He also applies Bleed with his attacks and has defensive mechanics that help him survive while operating at low health. The risky playstyle makes him less consistent than the strongest S Tier units.
Woo (Shadow)
Role: DPS, Speed, Tank
Woo remains one of the best units for fast farming. His movement speed, summons, short cooldowns, and Dodge effects allow him to clear content quickly while remaining difficult to hit.
His boss damage ceiling is lower than some newer carries, which is why he has moved into A Tier rather than remaining one of the absolute top units.
B Tier – Good and Situational Units
B Tier characters can still be very useful, especially during progression or in teams built around their specific mechanics. However, they generally have more noticeable weaknesses than A and S Tier units.
- Maaki (Soul Katana): A highly reliable tank with immunity to several major crowd-control effects. His value is strongest on control-heavy stages.
- Hokari (Jackpot): A specialized economy unit that can generate large amounts of Yen when his Jackpot mechanic succeeds, but his setup is less reliable than Fastwagon.
- Rangaku (Demon): A strong Burn and AoE specialist that becomes much better after building his Blaze chain.
- Tanjaro (Sun Breathing): A useful finisher that gains more power against weakened enemies. He works especially well with Nazaka.
- Freezer (Golden): Excellent against normal waves because enemies can become summons, but much less useful against bosses.
- Garu (Half Monster): A flexible DPS, tank, and support unit that benefits from teams capable of applying many different statuses.
- Skeleton Knight (Resonance): A defensive tank that protects important carries through shared health and damage reduction mechanics.
- Falcon (Dark): A useful economy and farming unit that becomes stronger when the stage provides plenty of enemies to defeat.
- Shinks (Emperor): A simple support option that reduces enemy damage and Dodge, making him useful for lower-investment teams.
- Beby (Super): Provides a straightforward damage aura and defensive value, particularly in teams that benefit from Dragon-related bonuses.
- Vargil: A flexible support and control unit that can create a useful stun and increased-damage window.
- Shanron (Omega): A versatile character with several modes for damage, tanking, and control, although specialists now outperform him.
- Rudaus: Provides cheap cooldown reduction and is useful when premium support units are unavailable.
- Kan (Investigator): A defensive version of Kan that focuses on healing, Overhealth, and survivability rather than the stronger Ghoul damage build.
- Karashi (Sharingan): A good speed farmer that benefits from quickly defeating enemies of different elements.
- Android (Super): A dependable crowd-control unit and useful mid-game bridge before stronger control characters are obtained.
- Shield Hero: A solid progression tank that redirects damage and protects weaker units, but eventually gets outclassed by stronger frontline options.
- Caska (Resilience): A good synergy-based DPS that performs best alongside specific teammates such as Berserker or Falcon.
- Dente: A Burn-focused DPS that works best when paired with Vargil, although the two-slot investment is harder to justify in the current meta.
C Tier – Outclassed and Legacy Units
C Tier characters are not completely useless, but most have been surpassed by newer units. They can still be useful for progression, evolution requirements, or specific situations.
- Madora (Gunbai): A functional Burn and meteor DPS, but Madora (Six Path) is a direct and much stronger upgrade.
- Rizzuto (Sage): Still provides damage and support through Nature Charges, but Six Path offers considerably more utility.
- Goki (SSJ4 Full Power): A decent progression DPS that is mainly worth building because it contributes toward the Gometa evolution path.
- Vegata (SSJ4 Full Power): A reasonable mid-game DPS whose biggest value comes from progressing toward Gometa.
- Big Beard (Father): A basic tank that becomes stronger at low health but lacks the utility offered by modern frontline units.
- Mamosa: Provides early healing and support, although her fixed healing output does not scale well into endgame content.
- Zemitsu: Can provide temporary damage and cooldown improvements, but his random activation and low overall ceiling make him a poor long-term investment.
- Ramuru: Has a simple kill-based progression mechanic but eventually falls behind percentage-based scaling units.
- Zaro: A useful early Bleed unit against regeneration enemies, but stronger DoT characters quickly replace him.
- Choi: Can work in Fire-based teams and provide Burn bonuses, but his requirements are too restrictive compared to stronger Burn options.
- Igras: Provides early DPS and survivability but lacks the scaling and utility required for difficult endgame content.
- Shin: Another early Burn option that requires too much time to ramp up compared with stronger DoT units.
- Tranks: A basic early-game DPS with little scaling or utility once stronger units become available.
D Tier – Starter-Only Units
D Tier is reserved for starter characters and low-ceiling units that should generally be replaced as soon as better options become available. Their main purpose is helping players get through the earliest stages.
- Michigo: Gains damage and speed at low HP, but the bonuses are too small to justify investing heavily in the unit.
- Asto: Provides some defensive value against ability damage but does not offer enough utility or offensive contribution.
- Goki (Base): Mostly useful as an evolution requirement for SSJ4 Full Power and eventually Gometa rather than as a serious combat unit.
- Mab: Has a basic attack bonus every few hits but lacks the scaling and utility needed for later content.
- Muffy: Dodge can occasionally help her survive early waves, but she offers almost nothing beyond basic tanking.
Best Anime Squadron Units to Prioritize
If you are unsure which characters deserve your resources first, the safest choices are the S Tier units. They offer the best combination of long-term value and endgame usefulness.
- For DPS, prioritize Diro, Sakuna, Goju, Rizzuto, and Yuto.
- For support, 3B and Nazaka are among the strongest choices, while Rizzuto also provides excellent team utility.
- For healing and survival, Nazaka and Tsanada are particularly valuable.
- For boss fights, Goju, Sakuna, Diro, Jotoro, Akoza, Meto, and Baras all have strong roles depending on your team.
- For economy, Fastwagon is the safest overall choice, while Falcon and Hokari can work in more specialized farming setups.
- For tanking, Rizzuto, Goju, Kashima, Puppeteer, and Avdal are among the strongest options.
The Anime Squadron meta has plenty of strong units, but not every character needs to be chased immediately. S Tier characters such as Diro, Sakuna, Yuto, Goju, Rizzuto, 3B, Nazaka, and Fastwagon provide the most reliable long-term value and should generally be your main investment targets.
A Tier characters are still more than capable of handling difficult content, especially when their specific strengths match the stage. Meanwhile, B and C Tier units can help new accounts progress, but you should gradually replace them as stronger characters become available. D Tier units are best treated as temporary starters or evolution materials rather than long-term investments.
