Clash of Critters Update 0.46.1 brings several important changes to the game, especially for players who spend a lot of time in Horde Invasion. The update adds a brand-new Tatari called Polar Paw, introduces a new Horde Invasion seasonal system, brings back Chips, and makes several changes to Cozy Farm and other features. There are also new progression rewards, balance changes, and quality-of-life improvements. Some of the new content is currently tied to the Pioneer Server, so players on the regular server may need to wait before everything becomes available.

New Polar Paw Tatari

The biggest addition in Update 0.46.1 is the new Polar Paw Tatari. This Tatari starts as a Tier 1 Snow Cub and belongs to the Tank class with a Water element. Polar Paw has an interesting combination of damage, healing, debuff removal, and team support. This makes it more than just a frontline tank, especially when upgraded to higher tiers. Its main abilities include:

  • Throws three fish at enemies to deal AoE damage.
  • The fish can pierce enemies.
  • Applies Fragile to enemies, increasing the damage they receive.
  • Can consume a fish when in danger to recover HP.
  • Removes debuffs from itself when using its defensive ability.
  • At higher tiers, it can share a fish with an ally to heal them.
  • Provides additional Water-related effects at Tier 4.

At Tier 1, Polar Paw throws three fish with a range of roughly four tiles. The attack appears to focus on enemies around the target location rather than spreading its damage across several lanes.

The Fragile effect is also one of the more interesting parts of this Tatari. Since other Tataris can provide similar effects, Polar Paw could potentially work well with existing buff-focused builds.

Polar Paw Tier Progression

The first few tiers of Polar Paw focus mainly on improving its ability to support itself and nearby allies.

  • At Tier 1, the Snow Cub throws three fish and can use one of them to restore its HP while clearing debuffs.
  • At Tier 2, the basic attack increases to four fish. Most of the other values remain similar, so the biggest change is the additional projectile.
  • Tier 3 is where Polar Paw becomes more interesting. Instead of only consuming a fish for itself, it can share one with an ally. This allows both characters to recover HP and have their debuffs removed.
  • Tier 4 gives the Tatari its Angel Bear form and adds a Water aura effect.

Getting Polar Paw to Tier 3 may take some time, however. Players need multiple copies and additional materials that are not immediately available through normal progression.

Polar Paw in Horde Invasion

Polar Paw also appears to have a useful role in Horde Invasion. Its combination of damage and support makes it a potential choice for players looking to improve their survival during longer runs.

The Tatari can generate Cola through its attacks. These Cola items can either be thrown at enemies for small AoE damage or consumed to restore HP and gain a Cola damage boost.

Its other skills add even more utility. One ability throws a small fish that attracts larger fish and Marlins, causing them to attack enemies along their path.

The Level 7 ability is particularly important. It allows Polar Paw to place special Cola bait that attracts fish and deals additional AoE damage. Afterward, the large Marlin can share Cola with allies, providing attack and defense bonuses to the team.

This makes Polar Paw look especially useful for team-based Horde Invasion builds.

New Tier 4 Tatari: Darmata

Another major addition in this update is a new Tier 4 evolution for the snake Tatari.

The snake evolves into Darmata, giving players another high-tier option to work toward. While the update does not provide a huge amount of detail about its final abilities, simply getting another Tatari to Tier 4 adds more progression for experienced players.

For collectors and players who focus heavily on upgrading their Tataris, Darmata is one of the most interesting additions in this patch.

Horde Invasion Gets a New Seasonal System

Horde Invasion is receiving one of the biggest changes in Update 0.46.1.

The mode now uses a seasonal structure, meaning the balance of Tataris and Chips can change between seasons. The first season is expected to last around four weeks.

This should make Horde Invasion feel less static, as the best strategy may change when a new season begins.

The update also introduces:

  • Seasonal rankings.
  • Different difficulty levels.
  • New seasonal rewards.
  • Shorter individual invasion battles.
  • Season history.
  • Chip cards.
  • Rewards based on kill counts.
  • Special avatar frames for high-ranking players.

Players can unlock higher difficulties by completing the previous difficulty. This gives experienced players something new to push toward instead of simply repeating the same Horde Invasion setup.

Chips Are Back in Horde Invasion

Chips have returned and are now part of the Horde Invasion system again. These can change how your run works by providing additional options during an invasion. Depending on the Chip, players can potentially increase their Tatari limit, upgrade Tataris beyond their normal level, or gain other useful effects. Chip cards are awarded at certain boss milestones, including:

  • Boss 5
  • Boss 10
  • Boss 15

This gives players another reason to continue pushing through Horde Invasion instead of stopping as soon as they reach a comfortable score.

1. New Horde Invasion Leaderboard

Update 0.46.1 also adds a seasonal Horde Invasion leaderboard. Players are ranked according to their highest difficulty and kill count during a single invasion. Rankings are calculated at the end of each season. The rewards include exclusive avatar frames.

There are different rewards depending on your final position. One frame is available for players ranking around 11th through 50th, while a more exclusive frame is available for players who finish in the Top 10.

For competitive players, this adds a new long-term goal to Horde Invasion. Instead of simply farming rewards, you can now build a stronger team and try to secure a high seasonal ranking.

2. Horde Invasion Duration Changes

The active Horde Invasion window has also been extended. Previously, the invasion period lasted around two hours followed by a one-hour break. After the update, the invasion period lasts around three hours, while the break remains one hour.

This gives players more time to participate during each active window. The developers have also fixed an issue where the Horde Invasion entrance could sometimes disappear after logging in for the first time of the day.

3. Horde Invasion Clear Changes

The number of kills required to complete a clear has been reduced. Another useful change is that completing a clear no longer immediately ends the battle. You can continue fighting and defeating remaining enemies to increase your overall results.

This changes how players may approach late waves. Instead of immediately focusing on completing the clear, there can be more value in staying in the battle and continuing to defeat enemies. All participating trainers will also receive rewards after a clear is completed.

4. Better Horde Invasion Matchmaking

Matchmaking has been adjusted to prioritize players with similar levels.

This should help reduce situations where a newer player is matched with someone significantly stronger or weaker. Since Horde Invasion relies heavily on coordination and team composition, better matchmaking should make random matches more consistent.

The teammate invitation system has also been improved. Recommended teammates should now appear before offline friends, making it easier to find someone who is actually available to play.

Cozy Farm Has Been Reworked

Clash of Critters

Cozy Farm is also getting a significant gameplay change. Crop harvesting and feeding have been removed from the system. Instead, crop weight now directly contributes toward milestone rewards. The basic farming process is now more focused on:

  • Watering crops.
  • Fertilizing crops.
  • Increasing crop weight.
  • Reaching milestone rewards.

Fertilizer can also critically increase crop weight. A successful fertilizer critical can provide up to a five-times weight increase.

Friends Can Help With Cozy Farm

A new Tatari support feature has been added to Cozy Farm. Players can invite their friends’ Tataris to assist during the event. This means the progression of your farm is no longer completely dependent on your own Tatari collection. Several Tatari-related factors can also affect crop weight, including:

  • Star level.
  • Evolution.
  • Feed stats.
  • Glitter.

The addition of Glitter is particularly interesting because it gives the resource another potential use within the game.

After a Cozy Farm event ends, crops will remain on the farm until another farm event begins. This appears to mainly give players a way to keep their previous farm setup visible between events.

Surprise Spin Wheel Changes

The Surprise Spin Wheel has received another progression level. Players can now upgrade the wheel one additional time. However, after obtaining the Grand Prize, the wheel will no longer automatically level up.

Instead, players must manually upgrade it. This gives players more control over when they want to progress the wheel, especially if they are trying to obtain a particular reward.

Bento Maker Requirements Reduced

The Bento Maker has also received a small but useful adjustment. The number of cookies required for different Bento types has been reduced:

  • Delicate Bento now requires 9 cookies instead of 15.
  • Elemental Bento now requires 9 cookies instead of 20.

This makes crafting these items considerably cheaper and should make the Elemental Bento in particular easier to obtain.

Auto Battle Improvements

The Auto Battle system now has a better reminder system. If Auto Battle has not been enabled for a long period, the game can display a notification reminding players about the feature. This is a small change, but it can help players who frequently forget to activate Auto Battle when starting their sessions.

Pop-Up Improvements

Update 0.46.1 also includes changes to how pop-up windows are displayed. Clash of Critters has quite a few promotional windows, so improving their display logic should make the game less intrusive. The goal appears to be reducing unnecessary pop-ups when moving between different areas of the game.

What Matters Most in Update 0.46.1?

There are several changes in this update, but some stand out more than others. The new Polar Paw Tatari is one of the biggest additions because it combines Tank abilities with healing, debuff removal, Fragile, and team buffs. Its Horde Invasion abilities also make it worth watching for players who want to experiment with new formations.

Horde Invasion is arguably the other major part of the update. The new seasonal structure, difficulty levels, leaderboard, Chips, and exclusive avatar frames give the mode more long-term progression.

For competitive players, the Top 10 seasonal reward could become an important target. The Cozy Farm changes are also worth checking because the removal of harvesting and feeding makes the event easier to understand. Crop weight is now much more important, while fertilizer and friend Tataris provide additional ways to increase your results.

Clash of Critters Update 0.46.1 is a fairly large update, with Polar Paw and the new Horde Invasion season being the biggest highlights. Polar Paw looks like a flexible Tank that can contribute damage while also helping the team through healing, debuff removal, Fragile, and additional buffs.

The Horde Invasion changes are arguably even more important for long-term players. Seasonal progression, different difficulties, Chips, leaderboards, and exclusive avatar frames give the mode more reasons to keep playing.

The Cozy Farm rework and smaller quality-of-life changes also make the overall experience easier to manage. Since some of these features are currently tied to the Pioneer Server, players should keep in mind that the final version may change before reaching the regular server.
