Qingxiao is the newest five-star Resonator in Wuthering Waves, and she brings a unique playstyle focused on building Forte energy, stacking Mind Lock, and dealing huge damage during longer battles. Her kit may look complicated at first, but once you understand how her two Forte bars work, her rotation becomes much easier to follow.
This Qingxiao guide covers her abilities, Forte mechanics, best Echoes, recommended stats, weapons, sequences, teams, and a simple rotation you can use in actual battles. Keep in mind that the character information may be subject to changes depending on the final version of the game.
Qingxiao Overview
Qingxiao is an Aero five-star sword Resonator designed primarily as a main DPS. Her biggest strength is sustained damage against bosses and other enemies that survive long enough for her to build up Mind Lock stacks.
She also has strong mobility outside of combat. Her aerial movement and sword-based attacks make her useful for exploration, especially when moving across large areas.
Her combat gameplay revolves around managing two separate sections of her Forte meter. Different attacks fill different sides, and once both sections are ready, Qingxiao can enter her enhanced sword state and prepare her strongest attacks.
How Qingxiao’s Forte System Works
Understanding Qingxiao’s Forte meter is the most important part of learning how to play her. The meter is divided into two sections, with each side being filled by different actions.
- Basic Attacks 1 and 4 mainly build the green section.
- Basic Attacks 2 and 3 build the blue section.
- Aerial attacks mainly build the blue section.
- Dodge Counter also contributes to the blue section.
- Her Resonance Skill can provide additional Forte generation depending on the version used.
- Her Intro Skill contributes to both sides and enhances her next Resonance Skill.
Because her aerial attacks mostly contribute to the blue side, you can use them when you need to fill that portion of the meter more quickly.
Once both sections are filled, Qingxiao can use her Heavy Attack to enter her enhanced sword state. After completing the enhanced Basic Attack sequence, another Forte meter becomes available for her powerful finisher.
Qingxiao’s Resonance Skill
Qingxiao has two versions of her Resonance Skill that appear depending on the actions performed beforehand.
The first version is available after specific grounded actions and has a cooldown. It helps generate the green portion of her Forte meter and can be followed directly by her Basic Attack 4.
The second version becomes available through certain actions and does not have the same cooldown restriction. This version helps generate the blue portion of her Forte meter.
Her Intro Skill also makes the next Resonance Skill more useful by improving the amount of Forte energy generated. Because of this, properly timing her skill during a rotation is important if you want to reach her enhanced attacks quickly.
Qingxiao’s Heavy Attack and Sword State
Once both sides of Qingxiao’s Forte meter are full, use her Heavy Attack to enter her enhanced sword state.
During this state, continue using her Basic Attacks until the enhanced Forte meter is ready. You can then perform another Heavy Attack to unleash a much stronger attack.
This is one of the main parts of Qingxiao’s damage rotation. Rather than constantly switching between different abilities, most of her gameplay involves building the required Forte resources and then cashing them in with her strongest attacks.
Qingxiao’s Resonance Liberation
Qingxiao’s Resonance Liberation is one of her major sources of damage and also plays an important role in maintaining her rotation.
At the beginning of battle, she receives the Heaven’s Clarity buff. This improves her Forte generation, while her finishing Heavy Attack consumes the buff to increase its damage.
Using her Resonance Liberation applies the buff again, meaning you generally want to include her Liberation in every major rotation.
Her Liberation also provides a large damage moment and works particularly well after Qingxiao has built up enough Mind Lock stacks on the enemy.
Mind Lock Explained
Mind Lock is another major mechanic that separates Qingxiao from a more straightforward DPS character.
When someone on the team breaks an enemy through Tune Strain, Mind Lock stacks can be applied. Qingxiao can then build these stacks further with her enhanced Heavy Attack.
She can reach up to 15 Mind Lock stacks under her standard setup, and her damage increases based on how many stacks the target has.
Her passive talent also allows Mind Lock stacks to be transferred from a defeated enemy to another target. This makes the mechanic much more useful in encounters where multiple enemies appear instead of only fighting one boss.
Because of this, teams that can consistently contribute to Tune Strain are especially valuable for Qingxiao.
Qingxiao Talent Priority
If you’re unsure which abilities to level first, prioritize Qingxiao’s talents in this order:
- Forte Circuit
- Resonance Liberation
- Basic Attack
- Resonance Skill
- Intro Skill
Her Forte Circuit should receive the most attention because so much of her damage and gameplay revolves around her Forte mechanics. Her Liberation comes next because it is another major source of damage.
Her Skill and Intro Skill are useful, but they generally don’t need to receive the same investment priority as her main damage abilities.
Best Qingxiao Echo Set
The recommended Echo set for Qingxiao is Heart of Evil.
Its bonuses are particularly suited to her Aero-focused damage:
- 2-piece bonus provides 10% Aero DMG.
- 5-piece bonus provides 20% CRIT DMG and 30% Aero DMG.
This makes the set a strong choice for maximizing Qingxiao’s personal damage.
If you don’t have a suitable Heart of Evil set yet, a properly built Sierra Gale setup can still perform well. The difference can be relatively small depending on your Echo quality, so there’s no need to immediately throw away a strong existing Echo set.
Best Main Echo
The recommended main Echo for Qingxiao is Calamity Effigy.
It provides additional Aero damage and fits naturally into her DPS build. However, players who already have a strong Sierra Gale setup can continue using it while farming better Echoes.
The quality of your Echo stats is often more important than immediately switching to a slightly better set with poor substats.
Qingxiao Echo Stats
For Qingxiao’s Echo setup, the recommended configuration is:
- 4-Cost: CRIT DMG or CRIT Rate
- 3-Cost: Aero DMG or ATK%
- 3-Cost: Aero DMG or ATK%
- 1-Cost: ATK%
- 1-Cost: ATK%
A 4-3-3-1-1 setup works well for her.
CRIT DMG is generally preferred when you already have enough CRIT Rate from your weapon and other sources. However, check your final stats before choosing the main Echo, since stacking too much CRIT Rate can eventually become inefficient.
For substats, prioritize:
- CRIT Rate
- CRIT DMG
- ATK%
- Energy Regen as needed
Her Energy Regen requirements aren’t particularly demanding in many of her recommended teams, although having some Energy Regen substats can make rotations more comfortable.
Best Qingxiao Weapons
Qingxiao’s signature weapon, Glint of Clouds, is her strongest option for maximizing personal DPS.
If you don’t have her signature sword, several other five-star swords can work as stat-stick alternatives. These include weapons such as:
- Emerald of Genesis
- Red Spring
- Everbrilliant Razor
- Other high-stat five-star swords
Emerald of Genesis is particularly useful for players who already have it available. Even without her signature weapon, Qingxiao can still deal strong damage with a properly built alternative.
For players using a Battle Pass weapon, Feather Edge at higher refinement is another usable choice.
The gap becomes more noticeable with lower-quality four-star options, so prioritize weapons with useful CRIT or ATK stats when possible.
Qingxiao Sequence Priority
Qingxiao’s Sequences provide several major upgrades, but not all of them offer the same value.
Sequence 1
Her first Sequence provides additional CRIT Rate and improves her resistance to interruption. It also gives her some extra offensive utility at the beginning of combat.
Sequence 2
Sequence 2 increases the maximum number of Mind Lock stacks from 15 to 25. It also improves her ability to apply these stacks.
This becomes particularly valuable in longer boss fights where she has enough time to build the additional stacks.
Sequence 3
Sequence 3 is one of Qingxiao’s biggest upgrades.
It significantly improves her Liberation damage, increases CRIT DMG, and provides additional benefits tied to Mind Lock and Tune Strain.
If you’re planning to heavily invest in Qingxiao, this is one of the major Sequence milestones to consider.
Sequence 4
Sequence 4 provides an ATK increase for teammates that can interact with Tune Strain mechanics.
This gives the upgrade more team-oriented value rather than focusing entirely on Qingxiao’s personal damage.
Sequence 5
Sequence 5 improves her Skill damage and provides additional utility related to her aerial movement.
It’s useful, but largely serves as another step toward her final Sequence.
Sequence 6
Sequence 6 is the major endgame investment and provides a substantial increase to Qingxiao’s overall damage.
For most players, however, her signature weapon or stopping at an earlier Sequence can be more reasonable than pushing all the way to maximum investment.
Best Qingxiao Teams
Qingxiao performs best with teammates that can work with Tune Strain and help her build Mind Lock stacks.
One of the strongest team combinations is:
- Qingxiao
- Dena
- Mouier
Dena should be configured around her Tune Strain role, allowing the team to take advantage of Qingxiao’s mechanics.
Other possible teammates include:
- Len as another Tune Strain-compatible option.
- Chakona for additional Aero-related buffs.
- Shorekeeper for healing and team buffs.
- Other support characters that can help Qingxiao maintain her damage rotation.
The main idea is to build a team that can consistently help Qingxiao trigger Tune Strain while also keeping her active long enough to build Mind Lock stacks.
Qingxiao Basic Rotation
Qingxiao’s personal rotation can look complicated when written down, but the actual gameplay becomes easier after you learn the animations. A simple rotation is:
- Enter the field using Qingxiao’s Intro Skill.
- Perform her Basic Attacks through the early portion of the combo.
- Continue into her grounded Basic Attacks.
- Use the enhanced Resonance Skill.
- Use Heavy Attack to enter the enhanced sword state.
- Continue using Basic Attacks to fill the enhanced Forte meter.
- Use another Heavy Attack once the meter is ready.
- Use Resonance Liberation at the appropriate point in the rotation.
- Use Echo.
- Swap to the next character.
During the rotation, keep an eye on the enemy’s Mind Lock stacks. If your teammates can trigger Tune Strain, take advantage of those opportunities before Qingxiao performs her biggest attacks.
Tips for Playing Qingxiao
One useful trick is learning to recognize her grounded Basic Attack 4 animation. The attack creates a noticeable vertical sword effect, which can act as a visual signal for when to use her Resonance Skill. Once you get used to the timing, you can hold the Basic Attack button through much of her rotation and focus mainly on pressing her Skill and Liberation at the right moments. A few other tips can help:
- Don’t waste her strongest Heavy Attack before building enough Mind Lock stacks.
- Use Tune Strain breaks whenever possible.
- Keep Heaven’s Clarity active for your important finisher.
- Learn which attacks fill each Forte bar.
- Use aerial attacks when you need additional blue Forte energy.
- Don’t over-invest in Energy Regen if your team already meets her requirements.
- Prioritize CRIT stats and ATK when building Echoes.
- Practice her animation timing instead of trying to memorize every individual input.
Is Qingxiao Worth Building?
Qingxiao is a strong main DPS for players who enjoy longer battles and characters with a resource-building rotation. Her damage becomes more impressive as she builds Mind Lock stacks, making her especially comfortable against bosses that remain on the field for extended periods.
She also has excellent mobility and a visually distinct sword-focused playstyle. While her Forte system requires some practice, her actual rotation becomes fairly comfortable once you recognize the key animations. If you already have suitable Aero Echoes and a strong sword available, Qingxiao can be a very effective addition to your roster. For players who want a powerful boss-focused DPS with a unique rotation, she’s certainly worth considering.
