The Scavenger Rod is a special Fishing Rod in Fisch that focuses on finding rare items rather than simply catching fish as quickly as possible. It can be obtained for free by completing Dr. Crookspine’s Errands at the Laboratory.
What makes this rod interesting is its passive ability. It gives you a much higher chance of finding Rare Finds while fishing, including useful items such as Enchant Relics, Treasure Maps, Nukes, Rotted Seeds, and Threads. Because of this, the Scavenger Rod can remain useful even after you have better rods for normal fishing.

Scavenger Rod Stats
Before starting Dr. Crookspine’s quest, it is worth knowing what the Scavenger Rod offers. Its base statistics are:
- Lure Speed: 75%
- Luck: 100%
- Control: 0.1
- Resilience: 20%
- Max Kg: 75,000 kg
- Line Distance: 50 meters
The rod also has a 40% chance to apply the Scavenged mutation to a fish. This mutation gives the fish a 3x multiplier.
However, the main reason to use this rod is its special Rare Finds passive. The ability gives you a 3x higher chance of finding Rare Finds, making it particularly useful when your goal is to collect rare fishing items rather than simply fill your bestiary.
How to Get the Scavenger Rod
To unlock the Scavenger Rod, you need to complete Dr. Crookspine’s Errands. The quest requires you to collect three different types of materials.
You will need:
- 2 Silver Rusty Bolts
- 5 Scrap Metal
- 1 Lunar String
Each objective requires a different fishing setup, so completing the quest is more involved than simply catching a few random fish.
How to Get 2 Silver Rusty Bolts
The first objective is obtaining two Silver Rusty Bolts.
One of the easier methods is to fish in the Mineshaft while using a Titanium Rod with Garbage Bait. You should also have Mutated Sharky equipped to improve your chances of getting the required mutation.
If you do not want to rely entirely on fishing for the mutation, another option is to use a Mutation Totem and then appraise the items you obtain. This can give you another way to work toward the required Silver Rusty Bolts.
Once you have two of them, keep them ready for Dr. Crookspine.
How to Catch 5 Scrap Metal
The second part of the quest requires five Scrap Metal. For this objective, travel to The Depths and fish there during the daytime. You can use any Fishing Rod, but Garbage Bait is important because it improves your chances of obtaining junk-type items such as Scrap Metal.
The process is straightforward:
- Travel to The Depths.
- Make sure it is daytime.
- Equip your preferred Fishing Rod.
- Use Garbage Bait.
- Fish until you obtain 5 Scrap Metal.
- Return the Scrap Metal to Dr. Crookspine.
This objective can take some time depending on your luck, so make sure you bring enough bait before starting.
How to Get 1 Lunar String
The final material is Lunar String, and this requires a different setup. Head to Desolate Deep and fish using the Moonlit Rod. You should also have Mutated Sharky equipped to help with the required mutation.
As with the Silver Rusty Bolts, you can alternatively use a Mutation Totem and appraise your obtained items to try to get the required result. Your objective is simply to obtain one Lunar String. Once you have it, you will have collected all three materials required for Dr. Crookspine’s quest.
Complete Dr. Crookspine’s Errands
After collecting everything, return to Dr. Crookspine at the Laboratory. Make sure you have all of the required materials:
- 2 Silver Rusty Bolts
- 5 Scrap Metal
- 1 Lunar String
Turn in the quest to complete Dr. Crookspine’s Errands. Once the quest is finished, you can claim the Scavenger Rod as your reward.
Since the rod is obtained through gameplay rather than requiring you to purchase it, completing this quest is a good way to add another specialized rod to your collection.
Best Enchants for the Scavenger Rod
The best enchant depends on what you want to do with the Scavenger Rod. Since its main purpose is finding Rare Finds, you may want to improve its fishing speed, Luck, or handling.
Here are several useful options.
Hasty
Hasty gives the Scavenger Rod +55% Lure Speed. This increases its Lure Speed from 75% to 130%. This is a good choice if you want to catch things faster while continuing to take advantage of the rod’s Rare Finds passive. The faster lure speed can also make the process of farming rare items less tedious.
Quality
Quality is one of the better all-around options because it improves several stats at once. It provides:
- +20% Luck
- +10% Resilience
- +20% Lure Speed
- +5% Progress Speed
The additional Luck works nicely with a rod designed around finding rare items, while the other bonuses make normal fishing more comfortable.
Resilient
Resilient adds +35% Resilience and +10% Fish Weight. The extra Resilience makes the reeling minigame easier to handle, while the additional Fish Weight can help you catch larger fish. This enchant is more suitable if you want to use the Scavenger Rod for a mixture of item hunting and regular fishing.
Unbreakable
Unbreakable provides:
- +10,000 Max Kg
- +0.1 Control
- +50 Durability
The additional Control can make the fishing minigame easier, while the extra Max Kg gives the rod a larger weight limit.
The Scavenger Rod already has a 75,000 kg limit, though, so this enchant is more about improving its overall handling and durability rather than fixing a major weakness.
The Scavenger Rod is one of the more useful specialized Fishing Rods in Fisch because its strength comes from its ability to find Rare Finds. Getting it requires completing Dr. Crookspine’s Errands and collecting 2 Silver Rusty Bolts, 5 Scrap Metal, and 1 Lunar String.
Once the materials have been gathered, return to Dr. Crookspine at the Laboratory to complete the quest and receive the rod.
For general fishing, there are stronger options available, but the Scavenger Rod has a clear purpose. Its 3x Rare Finds bonus can make it valuable for farming Enchant Relics, Treasure Maps, Nukes, Rotted Seeds, and Threads. Since it does not require a direct purchase, completing the quest is well worth the effort for players who want a specialized rod for rare-item hunting.
