The Overworld RPG adventure has a surprisingly deep progression system, with quests, crafting, exploration, equipment upgrades, hidden areas, and several boss encounters. Reaching the end of the current storyline is not as simple as following one quest marker. You will need to complete side quests, gather materials, upgrade your gear, unlock important items, and prepare properly for the final fights.

How to Start Progressing Through the Story
After collecting several Mind Keys and a Treasure Map, the next part of the progression starts through the town’s questline. One important thing to keep in mind is that combat does not always end immediately after defeating an NPC or enemy. You may remain in combat for a while, which can make traveling and questing more annoying than expected.
Once you have the required keys, your Combat level can increase, opening up more progression. The mailbox also becomes important because some story instructions are delivered through messages. One of these messages directs you toward the Guard Tower’s supply room, eventually leading to another quest involving the jailer.
You will also need to speak with Duke Verim to obtain an official order. This document allows you to continue dealing with the jailer and unlock the next part of the quest chain.
Complete the Important Side Quests
The main story does not always immediately tell you what to do next. Several side quests act as prerequisites for later story missions, so completing them can save you from getting stuck.
One of the important quests is Blind Trust, which eventually leads toward Merlin and further progression. You will need to collect specific materials during this section, including honey.
The quest progression can be roughly approached like this:
- Complete Duke’s Delivery.
- Complete Blind Trust.
- Continue the quest chain involving Merlin.
- Work toward Merlin’s Knowledge.
- Unlock Demon Slayer.
- Complete the required prerequisite quests.
- Progress toward Undead Nightmare, which serves as the final major storyline quest.
The game does not always make this progression obvious, so checking your available quests and their prerequisites is useful.
How to Get Iron Gear
Iron equipment becomes an important requirement for progressing through the later quests. You cannot simply walk into the Iron area and expect to start crafting immediately. You first need the appropriate mining tool.
A Bronze Pickaxe can be used to mine Iron Ore. Once you have enough ore, you can process it into Iron Ingots and use those materials for stronger equipment.
However, crafting Iron Gear also requires sufficient crafting skill. In the gameplay, reaching around 25 Crafting was necessary before being able to properly create the desired Iron equipment.
If your crafting level is too low, craft cheaper items first to increase your skill. You may need additional materials such as Willow Logs depending on the equipment you are making.
For progression, focus on:
- Getting a Bronze Pickaxe.
- Mining Iron Ore.

One of the early requirements involves creating a small health potion. You will also need a Bug Net, which requires Rope. Rope, in turn, requires Flax.
Flax can be found while exploring the world, and you need to gather enough of it to craft the required Rope. After obtaining the Bug Net, you can start searching for the necessary butterflies.
A White Wing Butterfly is required for part of the progression. These creatures can be somewhat annoying to locate because they are small and easy to miss while exploring.
Once you collect the necessary materials, you can continue the Merlin questline and eventually unlock the next story requirements.
Demon Slayer Quest Progression
The Demon Slayer quest is another major step toward the endgame. It requires you to investigate what has been happening around the world and gather information from different NPCs.
Part of the quest involves speaking with people who have encountered dangerous creatures or suspicious events. You may need to travel between different parts of the map to collect enough information before returning to the relevant NPCs.
This is also where exploration becomes more important. Some objectives are located far away from the starting town, and you may need to use teleportation items or travel manually.
The questline eventually pushes you toward more dangerous areas and prepares you for the major boss encounters.
The Gromp Encounter
Gromp is encountered during one of the quests and initially appears to be another character you need to deal with. However, the quest eventually turns into a fight.
Gromp is relatively tanky, but the encounter is manageable if your equipment is already upgraded. After defeating him, you can continue the storyline and move toward the next set of objectives.
Although this fight is not the final boss, it demonstrates an important part of Overworld’s progression: some quests can suddenly turn into combat encounters, so keeping healing items and suitable equipment with you is always useful.
The Abyssal Demon Boss Fight
The Abyssal Demon is one of the major bosses you will encounter before reaching the final storyline. This fight can be difficult if you enter without understanding its attacks.
The first attempt can be especially rough because one of the boss’s attacks appears difficult to avoid. The key is learning that certain projectiles are meant to be parried, rather than simply dodged.
When the incoming attack reaches you, attack at the correct moment to parry it. Once you understand this mechanic, the fight becomes considerably easier.
For the Abyssal Demon, prepare with:
- Plenty of Small Health Potions.
- Large Health Potions if available.
- Proper armor.
- A reliable melee weapon.
- A ranged weapon if useful for your build.
- Enough healing to survive mistakes.
- At least one other player if you are uncomfortable fighting it alone.
During the successful attempt, the fight became much more manageable after learning the parry timing. Instead of constantly running away, you can stay closer, deal damage, react to attacks, and heal when necessary.
After defeating the Abyssal Demon, you can receive upgraded equipment. The progression shown included a Tier 2 Lumina Helmet, showing that the boss can also contribute to your gear progression.
Preparing for the Final Story Quest
After completing the Abyssal Demon section and several other prerequisites, the game starts pointing toward Undead Nightmare.
This is the final major quest in the current story progression and eventually leads to the Lich encounter.
Before attempting it, prepare as much as possible. The final area contains enemies and mechanics that can quickly overwhelm an unprepared player.
One particularly important preparation is getting a bow and arrows. Ranged attacks are extremely useful during the final encounter, and having enough ammunition is important.
The gameplay preparation included crafting Bronze Arrows using materials such as stone. It is better to bring more ammunition than you think you need because running out during a boss fight can leave you with very few options.
How to Get the Ghost Speak Amulet
Another important item during the late-game progression is the Ghost Speak Amulet.
To obtain it, you first need to find a pendant and combine it with a Bone Tooth Necklace. The resulting item is an exceedingly rare Ghost Speak Amulet.
This item becomes relevant during the storyline involving Merlin, Tartarus, Sigmund, and the undead area.
You should also pay attention to quest instructions about when to equip the amulet. Certain characters may react differently depending on whether you have it equipped, so it can be safer to keep it in your inventory until the quest specifically requires it.
Tartarus Questline
The storyline involving Tartarus sends you through several unusual objectives. You may need to gather items such as:
- Old Boots.
- Raw Fish.
- Brown Mushrooms.
- Other quest materials.
- Gold.
- Various crafting resources.
Some of these items can be obtained through fishing and exploration. For example, Raw Fish can be caught using a fishing rod, while the Old Boot can also appear while fishing.
After gathering everything, you can help Tartarus and bring him to Merlin. Some parts of this quest may require you to escort him, although teleportation can make the process much easier when the game allows him to travel with you.
Building the Bank
One surprisingly important objective involves gathering a large amount of basic resources to construct a bank.
The materials used include:
- 100 Logs.
- 64 Stone.
After collecting the required resources, you can complete the construction objective and return to the relevant NPC.
It might seem strange to spend so much time building a bank just to continue the storyline, but this is part of the game’s progression system. Some seemingly unrelated objectives are actually connected to the larger quest chain.
The bank can also be useful for storing materials and managing your inventory while progressing through the later areas.
Finding the Tome of Souls
Eventually, the story takes you toward an area connected to the undead storyline. Here, you need to search for the Tome of Souls and collect souls from undead enemies.
The general process involves fighting undead mobs and collecting their souls. Once you have enough, you can use them to activate the door leading toward the boss area.
Make sure you have enough space in your inventory before entering. The area contains additional items and materials, and a full inventory can become a problem during the later sections.
How to Prepare for the Final Boss
The final boss encounter is significantly more complicated than a normal enemy fight. Before entering, make sure your character has enough healing, ammunition, and suitable equipment.
A good preparation checklist is:
- Bring plenty of health potions.
- Craft enough arrows.
- Equip your strongest available armor.
- Bring a reliable bow or other ranged weapon.
- Keep some inventory space available.
- Learn the boss mechanics before committing to the fight.
- Consider bringing another player if you are still learning the encounter.
- Make sure you understand how the environmental mechanics work.
The gameplay also used upgraded necklaces to increase damage, which is useful when relying heavily on ranged attacks.
Final Boss Mechanics and Strategy
The final boss area contains several mechanics that can catch you off guard. One of the most dangerous attacks involves powerful laser-like attacks that can deal massive damage.
The safest response is to hide behind the walls when the lasers appear. Rather than trying to outrun the attack or tank the damage, use the environment for protection.
Another major mechanic involves flames that need to be extinguished using buckets of water. During the encounter, you need to deal with these flames while also surviving attacks from the boss and other enemies.
The general strategy is:
- Watch for the laser attack.
- Move behind a wall when the lasers appear.
- Use buckets to extinguish the flames.
- Keep your distance whenever possible.
- Use your bow to damage the boss.
- Aim for the head when possible for increased damage.
- Deal with dangerous enemies that interfere with your positioning.
- Heal before your health becomes dangerously low.
- Repeat the process until the boss is defeated.
The fight can feel chaotic because the flames may return, forcing you to repeat the water mechanic. Zombies and other enemies can also interfere with your attacks, making positioning extremely important.
Completing Undead Nightmare
After surviving the boss encounter and completing the required objectives, the Undead Nightmare quest can finally be completed.
This marks the end of the current major storyline shown in the progression. The journey is considerably longer than simply following the main quest marker because many objectives are locked behind crafting, gathering, side quests, exploration, and boss encounters.
The final section also gives you a good reason to prepare your character before entering. Trying to rush through the final area without understanding its mechanics can result in an easy death.
Is Overworld Worth Playing?
Overworld has enough systems to make its progression feel more like a traditional RPG rather than a simple Roblox experience. The combination of quests, crafting, mining, fishing, equipment upgrades, exploration, NPC interactions, and boss mechanics gives the game plenty to do.
The story progression is also one of its stronger points. You are not simply grinding enemies for levels. Some quests send you across the map, require specific materials, introduce new characters, and eventually lead into large boss encounters.
That said, the progression can be confusing at times. Some objectives are not clearly explained, while others require materials you may already have without realizing it. Because of that, keeping track of your quests and storing useful materials in your bank can save a lot of time.
The current Overworld progression has a lot more depth than it initially appears to have. From getting Iron Gear and completing Merlin’s quests to fighting the Abyssal Demon and eventually reaching the Undead Nightmare finale, there are plenty of steps between starting the game and finishing the story.
If you are planning to complete the storyline yourself, focus on upgrading your equipment, completing prerequisite quests, keeping useful materials, and preparing plenty of healing items and arrows before the final boss. Most importantly, learn the boss mechanics instead of trying to brute-force every encounter. Once you understand what each attack does, the late-game fights become much more manageable.
