Mutations are special versions of pets in Steal an Egg that can increase their Money per second. Besides changing the appearance of a pet, each Mutation also adds a multiplier to its base earnings. Some Mutations can be obtained naturally by hatching Eggs, while others require the Fuse Machine, Admin Abuse events, or the Sakura Incubator.

If you are trying to build the strongest possible pet collection, understanding how each Mutation works is important. A good Mutation combined with a heavy and valuable pet can result in a much higher income.

All Mutations in Steal an Egg

There are currently five main Mutations that you can find in Steal an Egg. Each one has a different multiplier, with Spirit Bloom providing the highest boost among the listed Mutations.

Here are all the Mutations and their multipliers:

  • Silver — 1.25x multiplier
  • Bloom — 1.5x multiplier
  • Golden — 2x multiplier
  • Rainbow — 2.5x multiplier
  • Spirit Bloom — 3x multiplier

The multiplier is applied to the pet’s base Money per second. This means Mutation is not the only thing that determines how much a pet earns. Pet size and weight are still important. A large pet with a strong base earning rate can become much more valuable after receiving a powerful Mutation.

How to Get Silver Mutation

Silver gives your pet a 1.25x earnings multiplier. It is one of the standard Mutations and can be obtained through several different methods.

You can get Silver Mutation from:

  • Hatching Eggs
  • Using the Fuse Machine
  • Admin Abuse events

Because there are multiple ways to obtain Silver, you may eventually get one naturally while progressing through the game. You can also find special Eggs during Admin Abuse events that already have a Mutation associated with them.

How to Get Bloom Mutation

Bloom is a Sakura Mutation that provides a 1.5x multiplier to your pet’s base earnings.

Unlike Silver, Golden, and Rainbow, Bloom is obtained through the Sakura Incubator. When using the incubator, Bloom has a 97.5% chance of being selected.

The Sakura Incubator is located in the Cherry Blossom Biome. Before you can use it, you need to unlock access by submitting a Crane.

Once the incubator is available, you can place an Egg inside and use Sakura Crystals to charge it. After the process is completed, the Egg can receive one of the Sakura Mutations.

How to Get Golden Mutation

The Golden Mutation gives pets a 2x multiplier. This makes it a significant upgrade over Silver and can greatly increase the income of a pet with a good base value.

Golden Mutation can be obtained through:

  • Hatching Eggs
  • The Fuse Machine
  • Admin Abuse events

Some Eggs can have a golden appearance, which can indicate a possible Mutation. However, you should not assume that every Egg with a special appearance will always result in the Mutation you want.

How to Get Rainbow Mutation

Rainbow is another standard Mutation and provides a 2.5x multiplier to base pet earnings.

You can obtain Rainbow Mutation from:

  • Hatching Eggs
  • The Fuse Machine
  • Admin Abuse events

Rainbow is stronger than Silver and Golden, making it a desirable Mutation when you are trying to improve your best pets.

Similar to Golden Eggs, certain Eggs can have a rainbow appearance. These can indicate a Mutation, although the appearance alone does not necessarily guarantee the exact result.

How to Get Spirit Bloom Mutation

Spirit Bloom is currently the strongest Sakura Mutation listed in this system. It provides a 3x multiplier to your pet’s base Money per second.

You can only obtain Spirit Bloom through the Sakura Incubator.

The chance is:

  • Spirit Bloom — 2.5%
  • Bloom — 97.5%

Because Spirit Bloom only has a 2.5% chance, getting it can take several attempts. Even if you fully charge an Egg, there is still no guarantee that the result will be Spirit Bloom.

This is why valuable Eggs are usually better targets for the Sakura Incubator.

How to Get Mutations by Hatching Eggs

The easiest way to encounter standard Mutations is by simply hatching Eggs. Silver, Golden, and Rainbow can appear when you hatch an Egg, giving the resulting pet an additional earnings multiplier.

There is also a possibility of receiving more than one Mutation on a pet. For example, a pet can potentially have combinations such as Golden + Silver, which can make it much more valuable than its normal version.

Some Eggs may also have different colors or appearances that suggest they could produce a Mutated pet. However, these visual indicators should not be treated as a guaranteed result.

How to Get Mutations With the Fuse Machine

The Fuse Machine provides another method for obtaining standard Mutations. To use it, you need to combine three copies of the same pet.

Pets that have better stats than their normal Index values can have a higher chance of producing standard Mutations when fused. This makes the Fuse Machine useful when you have several duplicate pets sitting in your inventory.

However, using three pets does not guarantee that the resulting pet will have a Mutation. You still need some luck when performing the fusion.

How to Get Mutations During Admin Abuse

Admin Abuse events can also provide opportunities to obtain Mutated pets. These events are generally associated with game updates and can include special spawns, Eggs, and Mutation opportunities.

During these events, Admins can spawn Eggs with specific Mutations. Some events may also provide pets with unusually high base earnings, making them particularly valuable.

If you are actively looking for rare or strong Mutations, it is worth paying attention when a new update is released because Admin Abuse can introduce opportunities that are not available during normal gameplay.

How to Use the Sakura Incubator

The Sakura Incubator is the main method for obtaining the two Sakura Mutations: Bloom and Spirit Bloom.

To use it, you need to:

  1. Unlock the Cherry Blossom Biome.
  2. Submit a Crane to unlock the Sakura Incubator.
  3. Obtain an Egg you want to improve.
  4. Place the Egg inside the Sakura Incubator.
  5. Use Sakura Crystals to charge the Egg.
  6. Complete the incubation process.
  7. Receive either Bloom or Spirit Bloom.

You can also put an Egg that already has a regular Mutation into the Sakura Incubator. The existing Mutation can remain while the Egg receives an additional Sakura Mutation.

This means you can potentially create a pet with multiple effects rather than replacing the Mutation it already has.

What Is the Best Mutation?

Based purely on the listed multiplier, Spirit Bloom is the best Mutation because it provides a 3x multiplier to the pet’s base earnings.

The Mutation ranking by multiplier is:

  • S Tier — Spirit Bloom: 3x
  • A Tier — Rainbow: 2.5x
  • B Tier — Golden: 2x
  • C Tier — Bloom: 1.5x
  • D Tier — Silver: 1.25x

However, Mutation alone does not determine whether a pet is good. A large pet with high base earnings and a weaker Mutation can still outperform a smaller pet with a stronger Mutation.

For the best results, try to combine high pet weight, strong base earnings, rarity, and a powerful Mutation.

Mutations are an important part of progressing in Steal an Egg, especially when you want to increase your Money per second. The standard options are Silver, Golden, and Rainbow, while the Sakura Incubator adds Bloom and Spirit Bloom to the game.

Among them, Spirit Bloom has the highest listed multiplier at 3x, but its 2.5% chance makes it much harder to obtain than Bloom. If you have a valuable Egg with high weight or rarity, using the Sakura Incubator can be a good way to try and push its potential even further.
