Heavyweight Fishing Traits Guide: All Traits and Effects
Traits are an important part of building your character in Heavyweight Fishing. These passive effects can improve your skills by increasing damage, critical chance, cooldown speed, and even adding special effects during combat. Each skill can only have one Trait equipped at a time, so choosing the right one can make a big difference. Traits are also not permanent if you want to try another option. You can reroll them by using Trait Crystals and speaking with Nanjiang, who can be found on every Island.

How Traits Work in Heavyweight Fishing
Traits are passive buffs attached to your skills. Unlike active abilities, you do not need to manually activate a Trait. Its effect applies automatically when the skill is used or when its conditions are met.
There are several Trait rarities, with the strongest effects being much harder to obtain. Common Traits have higher roll chances, while the special Dragon, Tortoise, Tiger, and Bird Traits have extremely low rates. To change a Trait, you need to:
- Get a Trait Crystal.
- Find Nanjiang on an Island.
- Talk to Nanjiang.
- Choose the Trait reroll option.
- Spend a Trait Crystal.
- Receive a new Trait for the skill.
Since each skill can only hold one passive, you should consider the role of the skill before using your better Trait rolls.
All Heavyweight Fishing Traits
Here is the current list of Traits and what each one does.
Powerful
Chance: 30%
Powerful is one of the more common Traits and gives a straightforward damage increase.
- +5% Damage
This is a simple choice for players who want more consistent damage without relying on special conditions.
Swift
Chance: 30%
Swift focuses on making your skills available more often by reducing their cooldown.
- +4% Cooldown
This Trait can be useful if your build depends on repeatedly casting an important skill.
Sharp
Chance: 30%
Sharp improves your chance of landing critical hits.
- +5% Critical Chance
It can work well with builds that already focus on critical attacks.
Berserk
Chance: 15%
Berserk provides a bigger damage boost than Powerful, making it a stronger option when raw damage is the main goal.
- +15% Damage
The higher effect comes with a lower roll chance than the basic Traits.
Rapid
Chance: 15%
Rapid is the stronger cooldown-focused option among the mid-tier Traits.
- +8% Cooldown
If your strategy relies on using skills as frequently as possible, Rapid can be a useful upgrade over Swift.
Precision
Chance: 15%
Precision improves your critical hit chance by a much larger amount than Sharp.
- +15% Critical Chance
This makes it a good choice for builds that are centered around critical hits.
Executioner
Chance: 2%
Executioner combines damage with cooldown reduction, giving it more value than a Trait that only improves one stat.
- +25% Damage
- +10% Cooldown
This is a strong general-purpose Trait if you want both stronger attacks and more frequent skill usage.
Chrono
Chance: 2%
Chrono is focused mainly on cooldown reduction but also provides an additional damage bonus.
- +20% Cooldown
- +10% Damage
The large cooldown boost makes Chrono especially useful for skills where timing and repeated casts are important.
Assassin
Chance: 2%
Assassin is designed for critical-hit builds. It provides both a higher chance to land critical attacks and increased critical damage.
- +25% Critical Chance
- +50% Critical Damage
If your build already benefits heavily from critical hits, Assassin can provide a major improvement to your overall damage output.
Azure Dragon
Chance: 0.1%
Azure Dragon is one of the rarest Traits in Heavyweight Fishing. It provides a very large damage bonus along with cooldown reduction and becomes even stronger when your HP gets low.
Its effects include:
- +150% Damage
- +20% Cooldown
- Below 50% HP: +75% Damage
- Below 40% HP: Skill bypasses Invincibility
The low-health bonuses make Azure Dragon especially powerful for players who can survive while operating at reduced HP.
Black Tortoise
Chance: 0.1%
Black Tortoise focuses on survivability while also adding damage. It can be especially useful for players who often find themselves close to defeat during difficult battles.
Its effects include:
- +15% Max HP Heal
- +30% Damage
- Skills can inflict Stun
- Below 20% HP: 20 seconds of Invincibility
The low-HP invincibility effect can give you a chance to survive situations that would normally end your battle.
White Tiger
Chance: 0.1%
White Tiger is built around critical hits and can become stronger as you continue casting your skill.
Its effects include:
- +50% Critical Chance
- +100% Critical Damage
- Casting the skill gives +5% Critical Chance per stack
- Maximum of 30% additional Critical Chance
This makes White Tiger one of the more interesting choices for players who want to build heavily around critical damage.
Vermillion Bird
Chance: 0.1%
Vermillion Bird focuses on cooldown reduction and damage while also providing a powerful skill-reset effect.
Its effects include:
- +50% Cooldown
- +30% Damage
- Casting the skill can reset its cooldown
- Cooldown reset can happen once per battle
The ability to reset a skill can be extremely useful during important fights, especially when you need to use a powerful ability again without waiting for its normal cooldown.
Which Traits Are the Rarest?
The rarest Traits currently have a 0.1% chance to appear. These are:
- Azure Dragon
- Black Tortoise
- White Tiger
- Vermillion Bird
Because of their extremely low roll rate, getting one of these Traits can take a lot of Trait Crystals and luck.
The next rarity level has a 2% chance, which includes:
- Executioner
- Chrono
- Assassin
The more common options have significantly higher chances, making them easier to obtain while still providing useful stat bonuses.
Best Traits for Damage
If your main goal is to increase damage, several Traits stand out depending on how your build works.
For straightforward damage, Berserk gives +15% Damage, while Executioner provides +25% Damage alongside cooldown reduction.
At the highest rarity, Azure Dragon is much stronger on paper with +150% Damage and additional effects when your HP drops below certain levels.
For critical builds, Assassin and White Tiger are more suitable because they improve both critical chance and critical damage.
Best Traits for Cooldown
Players who prefer casting skills as often as possible should look at cooldown-focused Traits.
The available options include:
- Swift: +4% Cooldown
- Rapid: +8% Cooldown
- Chrono: +20% Cooldown and +10% Damage
- Azure Dragon: +20% Cooldown and +150% Damage
- Vermillion Bird: +50% Cooldown and +30% Damage, plus a one-time cooldown reset
The stronger Traits are much harder to obtain, but they can provide a much bigger improvement to skill rotation.
Best Traits for Critical Builds
Critical-focused players have several options depending on how lucky they are with Trait rolls.
- Sharp: +5% Critical Chance
- Precision: +15% Critical Chance
- Assassin: +25% Critical Chance and +50% Critical Damage
- White Tiger: +50% Critical Chance and +100% Critical Damage, plus additional Critical Chance stacks
White Tiger has the strongest listed critical effects, but its 0.1% chance makes it extremely difficult to obtain.
Traits can greatly change how a skill performs in Heavyweight Fishing. Some focus on simple stat boosts such as damage, cooldown, or critical chance, while the rarest Traits introduce special effects that can completely change how you approach a battle.
You can reroll your Traits by using Trait Crystals and talking to Nanjiang, who is available on every Island. Since each skill can only have one passive Trait, think about your build before spending your valuable crystals.
For general builds, Traits like Berserk, Rapid, Precision, Executioner, Chrono, and Assassin are useful options. If you manage to roll one of the extremely rare Azure Dragon, Black Tortoise, White Tiger, or Vermillion Bird Traits, however, you can gain access to much stronger effects.
