Getting to Level 100 in Grand Blue does not have to mean spending hours defeating random enemies around the map. The game has a much better progression route if you know which quests to repeat and when to move to the next island. Since Grand Blue is still in Early Access, some systems can change over time, but the current early-game route is built around three main areas: Anchor Town, Clown Town, and Maple Village.
The key is to avoid staying in an area after its quests stop giving efficient EXP. Follow the main story to unlock new locations, then use repeatable quests to fill the gaps between levels. With the right route, reaching Level 100 becomes much faster.
Best Leveling Route to Level 100
The simplest route for reaching Level 100 is:
- Level 1–30: Anchor Town
- Level 30–70: Clown Town
- Level 70–100+: Maple Village
Repeatable quests are the main source of fast EXP during this journey. Instead of running around the map looking for random enemies, focus on the quests that can be completed repeatedly. This keeps your EXP coming while also giving you Money and other rewards.
Level 1–30: Farm Anchor Town
Start by completing the tutorial and following the early main quests. The tutorial helps introduce the combat system and gives you the basic tools needed to begin progressing through the world.
Once you have access to the gate leading toward the higher-level area, you need to pay 25 Gold to open it. This gate is important because the repeatable quest beyond it provides much better EXP than simply fighting the weaker enemies around the starting area.
After opening the gate, look for the Marine Captain repeatable quest. Accept the quest, defeat the required enemies, return to complete it, and immediately pick it up again.
This should be your main EXP source until around Level 30.
Don’t Forget the Wizard’s Apprentice Quest
While leveling in Anchor Town, it is also worth completing Almighty Calvin’s Wizard’s Apprentice quest. This is not your main leveling method, but it gives you a valuable early reward.
The quest involves getting the Rusty Shovel and digging up several requested objects. After completing the objectives, return to Calvin and collect Calvin’s Treasure, which provides a Cursed Fruit reward.
This is worth doing early because your first good Fruit can make the rest of your leveling route easier.
Level 30–70: Move to Clown Town
Once you reach approximately Level 30, stop spending most of your time on the Anchor Town quests and sail toward Clown Town.
This is where your next major EXP grind begins. Find Johnny and take his repeatable quest. The objective involves defeating Clown Officers around the town.
The quest can be repeated, making it one of the most useful ways to gain EXP between Levels 30 and 70. Instead of wandering around looking for enemies, stay close to the quest area and clear the required targets as quickly as possible.
Farm the Buggy Clown Quest
As you progress through the Clown Town storyline, you can unlock another repeatable quest involving Buggy the Clown.
Once available, use this quest alongside Johnny’s repeatable quest. Boss-related objectives can provide a larger EXP payout, so they are worth doing whenever they become available.
A simple Clown Town routine is:
- Pick up Johnny’s repeatable quest.
- Defeat the required Clown Officers.
- Turn the quest in.
- Repeat the quest.
- Complete the Buggy Clown objective whenever it is available.
- Continue following the main quest to unlock additional content.
This gives you a steady EXP loop without requiring you to constantly travel around the island.
Use Clown’s Hub for Extra Progress
While you are in Clown Town, check out Clown’s Hub. The area contains an arm-wrestling activity with several opponents.
The available opponents include:
- Beginner
- Intermediate
- Arm Wrestling Champion
This activity is more of a side activity than your main leveling method, but it is another example of why you should explore each island rather than only following quest markers.
Level 70–100: Head to Maple Village
After reaching around Level 70, it is time to leave Clown Town and head toward Maple Village.
This is the final part of the early-game Level 100 route. Once you arrive, continue the main questline and look for the repeatable quests available around the village.
The current route recommends using Gus’s repeatable quest as one of the main ways to gain EXP from Level 70 onward. Other NPCs around Maple Village can also offer repeatable objectives, allowing you to keep earning EXP while completing different tasks.
You do not need to abandon every other activity, either. If another quest is nearby and can be completed quickly, it can be worth doing rather than traveling across the map just to return to one repeatable quest.
Keep Your Main Quest Active
One of the easiest mistakes to make while leveling in Grand Blue is ignoring the main quest after discovering repeatable missions. Repeatable quests are excellent for grinding, but the main quest helps unlock new islands and progression. If you stay in the same area for too long, your EXP gains can become inefficient.
A good approach is to:
- Follow the main quest until you unlock the next area.
- Use repeatable quests to gain levels.
- Move to the next island when your level is high enough.
- Continue the main quest.
- Return to repeatable quests whenever you need additional EXP.
This keeps your progression moving instead of turning the entire Level 1–100 journey into one long grind.
Spend Your Stat Points
Every time you level up, make sure you actually use the Stat Points you receive. Leaving points unused does not make you stronger, and stronger stats can help you defeat quest enemies faster.
Your exact build depends on your preferred combat style, but avoid spreading your points randomly across everything if your goal is fast leveling. A focused build can make combat more efficient because you can defeat enemies more quickly and spend less time recovering between fights.
Energy is also worth paying attention to because skills consume it. Running out of Energy in the middle of a difficult fight can slow down your grinding considerably.
Get a Cursed Fruit Early
A good Cursed Fruit can make the leveling process considerably easier because Fruits provide additional combat abilities. Grand Blue currently has several ways to obtain them, including Fruit Chests and naturally spawning Fruits. For a new player, completing Calvin’s quest is a particularly useful early option because it gives you a Fruit without requiring you to rely on random spawns.
You should also redeem available codes before starting your grind. Some codes can provide useful rerolls or Fruit-related rewards, giving you extra resources without requiring additional EXP farming.
Defeat World Bosses When Possible
World Bosses are another activity worth watching for while leveling. They are not something you should constantly abandon your quest route for, but joining one when it appears can provide useful rewards.
Current information indicates that World Bosses can provide Fruit Chests and Celestial Coins, making them useful for progression beyond EXP.
If a World Boss appears while you are already close to the area, consider joining the fight. You can earn additional rewards while taking a break from your normal quest loop.
Fastest Level 1–100 Route
If you simply want the short version, follow this route:
Level 1–30
Start in Anchor Town and complete the tutorial and main quests. Pay the 25 Gold fee to open the gate, then farm the repeatable Marine Captain quest. While you are there, complete the Wizard’s Apprentice quest to obtain your first Cursed Fruit opportunity.
Level 30–70
Travel to Clown Town and continue the main quest. Pick up Johnny’s repeatable quest and repeatedly defeat Clown Officers. Once the Buggy Clown quest becomes available, include it in your routine for additional EXP.
Level 70–100
Move to Maple Village once you reach Level 70. Continue the main storyline and start farming the repeatable quests around the village, including Gus’s quest. Use nearby side quests and activities whenever they provide worthwhile EXP without taking you too far away from your farming route.
Reaching Level 100 in Grand Blue is mostly about using the right quest at the right stage of the game. You do not need to spend the entire journey defeating random enemies. Instead, progress through the main storyline and switch to the strongest repeatable quests available in each area.
Start with the Marine Captain quest in Anchor Town, move to Johnny and Buggy in Clown Town, and then finish the early-game grind with the repeatable quests in Maple Village. Along the way, grab a Cursed Fruit, spend your Stat Points, complete useful side quests, and participate in World Bosses when possible.
