The latest Rogue Piece update adds Ulquiorra, bringing a new Bleach-inspired progression path for players to complete. While the update was delayed by a day, Ulquiorra comes with a full questline, several abilities, and an additional transformation that requires more grinding.

Getting the basic Ulquiorra moveset is fairly simple, but unlocking the F move and the stronger Segunda Etapa form requires additional requirements. You will need the right race, several boss drops, and multiple Ulquiorra boss kills. This guide explains how to unlock Ulquiorra, obtain the F move, evolve your race, and unlock Segunda Etapa.

How to Start the Ulquiorra Quest

The Ulquiorra questline begins on Hueco mundo Island. Look for the NPC located behind the Stark NPC. The NPC can be easy to miss because there is no obvious ring or marker around it. If you arrive at Hueco mundo Island and cannot immediately find the quest giver, check behind Stark. There is also an important requirement before you can start the quest:

  • You must have the Rancor race.

Once you meet the requirement, interact with the NPC to begin the Ulquiorra questline.

Find Four Empty Hearts

The first Ulquiorra quest requires you to find four Empty Hearts. These items can spawn in several different locations, so you will need to explore the possible spawn points and collect all four.

Once you have obtained four Empty Hearts, return to the questline and continue to the next objective. This is mainly an exploration step, so it should not require a difficult fight. The biggest challenge is simply locating all of the required items.

Defeat 50 Mercuriel Arrancars

The next quest requires you to defeat 50 Mercuriel Arrancars. You do not necessarily have to fight a specific enemy called Mercuriel for every kill. Instead, defeating Arrancars gives you a chance for Mercielago to spawn, which is connected to completing this portion of the quest. The general process is:

  1. Find Arrancars.
  2. Defeat them repeatedly.
  3. Continue fighting until the required progress is completed.
  4. Wait for the necessary Mercielago-related progress.
  5. Move on to the next quest.

This part can be handled fairly quickly if your character already has enough damage to clear the enemies efficiently.

Bring Orihime to Aizen

After completing the Orancar objective, the next task involves Orihime and Aizen. You need to find Orihime and bring her to Aizen. Orihime can appear in several locations, including:

  • Soul Society
  • Starter Island
  • Sandor
  • Forge Island

Once you locate her, interact with the NPC and then deliver her to Aizen. After successfully completing this objective, you will unlock the main Ulquiorra ability set.

Ulquiorra Base Moveset

Completing the initial questline unlocks most of Ulquiorra’s moves, with the exception of the F move. The base moveset has several strong attacks and uses a noticeable amount of visual effects. Compared with some of the other Rogue Piece additions, Ulquiorra’s VFX stands out, particularly during the larger attacks.

There are still some animation and camera issues that may appear during certain abilities, but overall the moveset provides a solid visual presentation. The F move is locked behind another questline, so you will need to continue progressing if you want the complete Ulquiorra kit.

How to Unlock Ulquiorra’s F Move

To unlock the F move, you need to interact with the Acquaintance NPC. However, this NPC has another race requirement. You must have the Vastocar race before you can continue. This means players who currently have Rancor need to evolve their race first.

How to Become a Vastocar

To obtain the Vastocar race, you need to farm the Ulquiorra boss for the required Essence.

Once you obtain the Essence, use it on a Rancor to evolve the race into Vastocar.

The progression is:

  • Start with Rancor.
  • Farm the Ulquiorra boss.
  • Obtain the required Essence.
  • Use the Essence on your Rancor.
  • Evolve into Vastocar.
  • Return to the Acquaintance NPC.

After becoming a Vastocar, you can continue with the additional Ulquiorra questline.

Complete the Ulquiorra Boss Questline

The next part of the progression involves fighting the Ulquiorra boss multiple times.

The quests are relatively straightforward once you have the required Vastocar race. Most of the remaining progression revolves around defeating Ulquiorra and obtaining the necessary drops.

Keep farming the boss until you have the items required for the next objectives.

This is where most of the grinding comes into the process, so having a strong build and a reliable way to defeat the boss will save you a considerable amount of time.

Unlock the Resurrección F Move

The first quest after unlocking the additional progression gives you access to Resurrección, which is Ulquiorra’s F move.

This ability provides a significant damage boost, but it comes with an important condition.

Your health needs to be at 50% or lower before you can activate it.

Once activated, Resurrección provides:

  • 15% damage increase
  • 60-second duration
  • Requires health to be at half or lower

The health requirement makes the ability somewhat risky. You need to deliberately allow your health to drop before activating the transformation, meaning you should be careful about using it during difficult fights.

How to Get Segunda Etapa

After unlocking Resurrección, you can continue toward Segunda Etapa, Ulquiorra’s stronger transformation.

The next quest requires a Segunda Etapa Fragment, which drops from the Ulquiorra boss.

Once you obtain the fragment, use it to complete the next quest requirement.

Afterward, you receive the final objective involving the Segunda Etapa form.

Defeat Ulquiorra Using Segunda Etapa

The final stage requires you to activate Segunda Etapa and defeat the Ulquiorra boss while using the form.

To activate the transformation, you first need to enter the Resurrección state. After doing so, a gauge appears in the bottom-left portion of the screen.

You need to fill this gauge completely.

Once the gauge reaches maximum, press F again to activate Segunda Etapa.

After transforming, you can use the form to defeat Ulquiorra and complete the final quest.

Segunda Etapa Buffs

Segunda Etapa provides a larger damage increase compared with the basic Resurrección state.

The transformation gives:

  • 30% damage increase
  • Around 52 seconds of duration

The increased damage makes the form useful for boss fights and other situations where you need to deal a large amount of damage within a limited period.

The main drawback is the preparation required to activate it. You first need to enter Resurrección, fill the gauge, and then activate Segunda Etapa.

Ulquiorra Unlock Requirements

For a quick overview, here is the complete progression:

  • Obtain the Rancor race.
  • Travel to Hueco mundo Island.
  • Find the Ulquiorra NPC behind Stark.
  • Find four Empty Hearts.
  • Defeat the required Arrancars.
  • Complete the Orihime and Aizen objective.
  • Unlock the base Ulquiorra moveset.
  • Farm the Ulquiorra boss for Essence.
  • Evolve Rancor into Vastocar.
  • Find the Acquaintance NPC.
  • Complete the additional Ulquiorra quests.
  • Unlock Resurrección.
  • Farm for the Segunda Etapa Fragment.
  • Use the fragment to continue the quest.
  • Activate Segunda Etapa.
  • Defeat the Ulquiorra boss while using the form.
  • Complete the questline.

Is Ulquiorra Worth Getting?

Ulquiorra is a strong addition for players who enjoy transformation-based abilities. His base moveset already has solid damage, while Resurrección and Segunda Etapa add another layer to his progression.

The biggest drawback is the amount of farming required. You need to deal with multiple quest objectives and repeatedly fight the Ulquiorra boss for the necessary drops.

The 50% HP requirement for Resurrección can also be inconvenient because it forces you to activate the ability while your character is already damaged. However, the 15% damage boost can make the risk worthwhile.

Segunda Etapa is even more powerful, providing a 30% damage boost for roughly 52 seconds once activated.

The Ulquiorra update gives Rogue Piece players another lengthy progression path based around one of the most recognizable characters from Bleach. The initial quest requires finding four Empty Hearts, defeating Arrancars, and completing the Orihime and Aizen objective before unlocking most of Ulquiorra’s abilities.

The real grind starts when you want the complete moveset. You need to farm Ulquiorra for Essence, evolve Rancor into Vastocar, complete the Acquaintance questline, and obtain the Segunda Etapa Fragment.

Once everything is finished, Ulquiorra becomes much more powerful through Resurrección and Segunda Etapa. The base form already offers strong damage and flashy VFX, while the later transformations provide substantial damage buffs. Despite some camera and animation issues, the overall moveset makes Ulquiorra a worthwhile character to unlock for players who enjoy Rogue Piece’s more involved quest and transformation systems.
