Clash of Critters is getting another big batch of content, and one of the most interesting additions is a brand-new Rock-type Tatari called Ringtail. The new Tatari is designed as a support unit, bringing healing, attack buffs, damage boosts, crowd control, and even some extra protection for your team.
The information below comes from the test server, so some numbers, skills, and mechanics could still change before the update officially arrives. Along with Ringtail, the update also introduces T4 versions of Butterfly and Llama, a new day and night campsite, changes to events, and several improvements to the game’s reward systems.
New Ringtail Tatari
Ringtail is a new Rock-type support Tatari coming to Clash of Critters. Its design is based on a cute raccoon, and it comes with several small companions that work together with it during battle. Ringtail is not meant to be your main DPS. Instead, its main job is to help other Tataris deal more damage while also keeping them alive. Its current kit includes:
- Healing for allies
- Multiple types of Attack Boost
- A special Damage Boost
- Crowd control through Hawk Stun
- Boss-targeting attacks
- Small companions that can block damage
- Three-lane attack range at higher tiers
- Extra support effects when its companions return
This makes Ringtail look like a flexible support option, especially for harder content where healing and buffs are more important than simply adding another damage dealer.
How Ringtail’s Main Skill Works
Ringtail sends out its small companions to attack enemies. After attacking, the companions return to Ringtail and provide additional effects. The return effect can provide healing and an Attack Boost. The more companions that make it back safely, the stronger the reward becomes. At the current test-server numbers, Ringtail can provide up to:
- 40% healing
- 20% Attack Boost
- Damage from its companions
- Extra protection from the companions
- A Damage Boost through its gold coin mechanic
- Hawk Stun at T7
The companions can also absorb some incoming damage. This gives Ringtail a little extra utility instead of being a support unit that simply stands in the back and buffs everyone.
Ringtail Gets Multiple Types of Buffs
One of the most interesting parts of Ringtail is that it does not rely on just one type of buff. At different levels, it can provide several effects, including Vigilant Attack Boost, Return Attack Boost, and Touching Damage Boost.
At T3, Ringtail can also interact with three allies by taking some of their HP and Attack temporarily before returning those stats along with healing and another Attack Boost. This gives the Tatari a very different playstyle from simple healers. You need to pay attention to where Ringtail is positioned and how its companions move around the battlefield.
Ringtail’s Gold Coin Mechanic
At T5, Ringtail gets another interesting ability involving gold coins. The Tatari drops a gold coin onto the battlefield, and an ally needs to move over it to collect the reward. Picking up the coin gives that ally a Damage Boost.
This means Ringtail encourages players to move around instead of keeping every Tatari in exactly the same position. From the current test-server behavior, the coin appears to spawn in an empty area, meaning you may need to move one of your Tataris to collect it. The Damage Boost is also considered a separate effect, which means it may work alongside other Damage Boost sources.
Ringtail T7 Boss Stun
Ringtail’s T7 skill gives it another useful job in boss battles. It locks onto a target, charges a cannon, and fires at the enemy. The attack deals damage and applies Hawk Stun. Once the stun ends, the target takes additional follow-up damage.
One important part of the skill is that it prioritizes bosses. The Hawk Stun also appears to work differently from normal Stun. Because of this, it could potentially be combined with other crowd-control effects for longer control against bosses. The exact interaction will need more testing after the update goes live.
Is Ringtail a Good Tatari?
Based on the current test-server version, Ringtail looks like a very strong support option, but it should not be treated as a main DPS. Its damage is decent for a support Tatari, but its real value comes from everything else it provides. Ringtail can:
- Heal your team
- Increase Attack
- Increase Damage
- Help block incoming attacks
- Stun bosses
- Support multiple allies
- Add another layer of utility to difficult stages
This could make Ringtail especially useful in higher difficulties where keeping your team alive becomes more important. However, the final version could still be different because this is test-server content.
T4 Butterfly Is Coming
The update also adds a T4 version of Butterfly. The new form gives Butterfly a much larger appearance compared to its previous version. The T4 design keeps the basic Butterfly theme while making the Tatari look bigger and more developed. The current evolution requirement shown on the test server includes:
- 5 Water Badges
- Fishing Contest or Zoo Shooter requirement
- B-rank food quality
Interestingly, Butterfly does not appear to require Sushi for this evolution, which makes the T4 requirement different from what some players might expect.
T4 Llama
Llama is also getting a T4 evolution. The T4 Llama becomes much larger and noticeably fluffier. Its face also has a funny new look, making it one of the more unusual T4 designs in the update. The current test-server requirements include:
- 60 Cat items from the Cat Pack
- A Pinball requirement for its Grass type
As with Butterfly, these requirements could still change before the update reaches the live game.
New Campsite Day and Night Cycle
Another visual change coming to Clash of Critters is the Campsite day and night system. The area will now have different appearances depending on the time of day. At night, some Tataris can also behave or look differently.
One example is Glowbug. During the night version of the campsite, Glowbug actually lights up and becomes much easier to notice. This does not completely change the gameplay, but it gives the Campsite a more active feel and makes the area look different depending on the time.
Marathon Party Becomes Rough Race
The current Marathon Party event is also being changed into something called Rough Race.
The basic requirements appear to remain similar, but the event gets a new theme and setting. Instead of the normal running-focused presentation, the new version appears to use a water-based race. So far, this looks more like a redesign of the existing event rather than a completely new permanent game mode.
New Carnival Rush Event
A separate event called Carnival Rush is also being prepared. During the event, players will complete quests to earn Wishing Coins. These coins can then be used with the Wishing Machine to receive rewards.
The exact reward pool and full mechanics were not yet clear from the test-server preview, so more information should be available when the event gets closer to release.
Boss Challenge Cookie Reward Buff
The Boss Challenge is also getting an important reward improvement. Players can now receive more Cookies based on how many bosses they have pushed to Endless difficulty. For every boss that reaches Endless, the Cookie reward receives an additional 10% boost. For example:
- 1 Endless boss = 10% Cookie boost
- 2 Endless bosses = 20% Cookie boost
- 3 Endless bosses = 30% Cookie boost
- 4 Endless bosses = 40% Cookie boost
- 5 Endless bosses = 50% Cookie boost
This should make pushing through all the Endless bosses more rewarding, especially for players who are already competing for high leaderboard positions. The extra Cookies can then be used to improve the food economy and craft more items through systems such as the Bento Maker.
Island Gold Rush Gets MVP Gift Boxes
Island Gold Rush is also receiving a major reward change. A new MVP Gift Box will replace the previous Blitz rewards from team kill rankings. Instead of giving separate rewards to the top kill positions, the system will focus on the MVP player.
The first time you obtain an MVP Gift Box, you will also receive a new deluxe building called the Big Queen Hall. This building has an interesting social feature. Other trainers who visit your area can interact with it and receive random rewards from the MVP Gift Box system.
MVP Gift Boxes remain valid for five days, while expired boxes are converted into Gold Bricks.
Recommended Tatari System
The update also adds a new recommended Tatari section that shows which Tataris are popular in different game modes. The system looks at what high-ranking players are using and displays the popularity of different Tataris. For Hot Evasion, some of the popular choices shown include:
- Cheer
- Sunflower
- Butterfly
- Bat
- Ash Lava
- Monkey
For Island Gold Rush, some of the popular picks include:
- Godzilla
- Monkey
- Deer
This can be useful for newer players who want to see what experienced players are currently using.
Card Album Improvements
The Card Album system is also receiving some quality-of-life changes.
When exchanging cards, players will be able to filter cards by Star Level. This should make it easier to find the exact cards you want without manually checking everything in your collection.
The update also improves performance when receiving multiple gifts in the Queen section.
These are smaller changes, but they should make the game’s menus easier to use.
The upcoming Clash of Critters update has quite a lot going on. The biggest addition is clearly Ringtail, the new Rock support Tatari. Ringtail is not a pure damage dealer, but its combination of healing, Attack Boosts, Damage Boosts, damage blocking, and boss Stun makes it look very promising. Its gold coin mechanic also adds a different style of gameplay because players need to move around to collect the buff.
Alongside Ringtail, we are getting T4 Butterfly, T4 Llama, the Campsite day and night cycle, Carnival Rush, Rough Race, Boss Challenge Cookie buffs, and the new MVP Gift Box system. Since most of this information comes from the test server, the final numbers and mechanics can still change. For now, Ringtail looks like one of the more interesting support Tataris to keep an eye on in the next Clash of Critters update.
