Fishing is one of the useful activities in Grand Blue Roblox, especially if you want to collect fish and improve your fishing equipment over time. There are several rods to unlock, different types of bait and lures to use, and a fishing upgrade system that can make catching fish much easier.
If you are still using the starting equipment, you should focus on getting the better rods first. Here is the full fishing progression, including all available rods, where to get them, and which upgrades are worth taking early.
How Fishing Works
Fishing in Grand Blue is not completely automatic. You need to pay attention to the fishing mini-game while trying to land your catch. When you get a shake, you need to react and start working on the catch.
After that, you have to control the fish properly until you successfully pull it in. This means your equipment and fishing upgrades can make a noticeable difference. A stronger setup can make the mini-game easier to manage and reduce the chance of losing fish.
All Fishing Rods in Grand Blue
Grand Blue currently has four fishing rods that you can work toward:
- Wooden Rod
- Carbon Rod
- Fiberglass Rod
- Silver Line Rod
Each rod is part of your fishing progression. You will start with the Wooden Rod and then unlock better equipment as you explore more of the game.
How to Get the Wooden Rod
The Wooden Rod is the first fishing rod you should get when starting out. Head to the Docks and look for Ricky, who can be found inside a nearby building. Ricky sells the Wooden Rod for 68 Gold. While you are there, you can also purchase other fishing supplies from him, including:
- Worms
- Other bait
- Wooden Crates
The Wooden Rod is enough to get started and will allow you to begin catching fish for quests and progression.
How to Unlock the Carbon Rod
The next rod is the Carbon Rod, but you cannot simply purchase it from a shop. You need to find Fisherman Jack and complete his fishing quest. Jack will ask you to catch a Carp and bring it back to him.
After completing the quest, you will receive the Carbon Rod as a reward. However, there is one important requirement: you need to be Level 15 before you can actually use the rod. Because of this, it is worth completing Jack’s quest as soon as you are able to, even if you have not reached Level 15 yet.
How to Get the Fiberglass Rod
After making some progress, you can travel to another island to find better fishing equipment. To get there, you first need to purchase a Rowboat for 48 Gold. Use the boat to travel to the next island, where you will find more fishing items. The Fiberglass Rod can be purchased there for 2,200 Gold. The same island also gives you access to additional fishing equipment, including:
- Shimmer Lure
- Silk Line Lure
The Fiberglass Rod is a major upgrade from the earlier rods, so saving your Gold for it can be useful once you are ready to move into the next stage of fishing.
How to Get the Silver Line Rod
The Silver Line Rod is the fourth fishing rod currently included in the fishing progression. It comes after the Wooden, Carbon, and Fiberglass Rods. Since the early game progression mainly focuses on getting the first three rods, players should concentrate on those upgrades first before worrying about the final rod. As you continue exploring Grand Blue and unlocking more fishing content, the Silver Line Rod becomes part of the later progression.
Best Fishing Upgrades to Get First
Grand Blue also has a fishing progression system where you can spend points on different upgrades. For early progression, you should focus on upgrades that make catching fish easier and give you more control during the mini-game.
The recommended order is:
- Steady Bar should be your first priority. It helps make the fishing process more manageable, making it a good starting point for players who are still learning the fishing mini-game.
- Composure After getting Steady Bar, move into Composure. This should make your fishing setup more comfortable as you start catching more difficult fish.
- Sure Grip Next, invest in Sure Grip. Once you have the first two upgrades, Sure Grip can further improve your control during fishing.
- Lucky Cast Finally, put your early points into Lucky Cast. It is useful as part of the overall setup, but it is better to take it after the more important control-focused upgrades.
Upgrades You Can Leave for Later
Not every fishing upgrade needs to be purchased immediately.
Kenai is not a major priority for this early setup, so you can leave it for later. The same applies to Quick Bait.
Instead of spreading your points across every available upgrade, it is better to build a focused setup first. Once your main fishing upgrades are in place, you can start investing in the other options.
Fishing becomes much easier when you upgrade in the right order. You do not need to spend all of your early resources on every fishing item available. Start with the Wooden Rod, then complete Fisherman Jack’s quest to get the Carbon Rod. Once you have enough Gold and access to the next island, work toward the Fiberglass Rod.
For upgrades, focus on Steady Bar, Composure, Sure Grip, and Lucky Cast. This gives you a simple progression path without wasting your early points on upgrades that are less important. With the right rod, bait, and upgrades, you can make the fishing mini-game much easier while working toward the better equipment available later in Grand Blue.
