Traits are an important part of character progression in Grand Blue. These passive bonuses can give your character extra stats, useful combat effects, or special abilities that can make certain parts of the game easier. Since Traits are random, getting a strong one can take several rerolls.
You can change your current Trait by using Trait Rerolls. These rerolls can be obtained in several ways, with redeemable Codes being one of the easiest options for getting them for free. This guide covers how Traits work, how to reroll them, and the currently known Trait list.
What Are Traits in Grand Blue?
Traits are passive modifiers that provide your character with additional effects while equipped. Unlike active skills that you need to manually use, Traits work automatically once you have them.
Some Traits are designed for exploration and general gameplay, while others are more useful in combat. For example, Diver helps you stay underwater longer, while Assassin improves your opening attack against enemies.
Traits also have different rarities. Common Traits are much easier to obtain, while Mythic Traits are extremely rare and can provide much stronger or more unusual effects.
The currently known rarity levels are:
- Common
- Uncommon
- Rare
- Epic
- Legendary
- Mythic
How to Reroll Traits in Grand Blue
To change your Trait, you first need Trait Rerolls. These are the items used to randomly roll for a new Trait.
There are several ways to obtain Trait Rerolls in Grand Blue. One of the easiest methods is redeeming available game Codes, although other sources may also provide them as you continue playing.
Once you have enough Trait Rerolls, the process is simple:
- Open the Trait section in Grand Blue.
- Find the Trait you want to change.
- Look for the reroll button next to the Trait.
- Use a Trait Reroll.
- A new Trait will be randomly selected.
Because the result is random, you may need multiple rerolls before finding the Trait you actually want.
Grand Blue Common Traits
Common Traits have some of the highest chances of appearing. They generally provide smaller bonuses, but several of them can still be useful depending on how you play.
The currently known Common Traits are:
- Enduring Speed — 8.725%: You are no longer slowed when your Energy is low.

The overall listed chance for the Common rarity is 52.35%, making these Traits the most common results when rerolling.
Grand Blue Uncommon Traits
Uncommon Traits are harder to roll than Common Traits and usually provide more noticeable bonuses. These Traits can be particularly useful for movement and combat situations.
Known Uncommon Traits include:
- Climber — 5%: Gives you a second climb, making it easier to reach higher areas.
- Athlete — 5%: Dash cooldowns recharge 40% faster, or 20% faster while in combat.

The overall chance for a Rare Trait is listed at 15%.
Grand Blue Epic Traits
Epic Traits are considerably harder to obtain, but they can provide powerful effects that are useful in both combat and general progression.
The currently known Epic Traits include:
- Assassin — 0.286%: Your first attack from outside combat deals 25% extra damage, or 30% when attacking from behind.
- Prodigy — 0.286%: Gain 15% more EXP, Skill EXP, Pet EXP, and Lifeskill EXP.
- Marathoner — 0.286%: While running without taking damage, gain 0.5 Speed per second, up to +4 Speed. Taking a hit resets the bonus.

- Chameleon — 0.286%: Standing still for 4 seconds makes you cloaked.
- Sturdy Guard — 0.286%: Once every 20 seconds, your Guard can survive an attack that would normally break it.
- Arrogant — 0.286%: Deal 15% more damage while above 90% Health.
Epic Traits have a listed overall chance of 2%, so getting one through rerolling can take quite a few attempts.
Grand Blue Legendary Traits
Legendary Traits are much rarer than Epic Traits and can provide strong effects that are worth keeping if they fit your build.
The known Legendary Traits are:
- Battle Tempo — 0.1%: Landing attacks builds up to 7.5% additional damage. Taking hits reduces the bonus, potentially down to -7.5%. The effect resets when you leave combat.
- Glass Canon — 0.1%: Deal 15% more damage but also take 15% more damage.
- Pyromaniac — 0.1%: Burn effects build 25% faster and their damage ticks deal 25% more damage.
- Protagonist — 0.1%: Once per fight when below 20% Health, gain 10% Damage and Damage Reduction for 8 seconds. The effect becomes stronger with Willpower.
- Predator — 0.1%: Effect is currently listed as TBA.
The Legendary rarity has a listed chance of 0.5%.
Grand Blue Mythic Traits
Mythic Traits are currently the rarest Traits in the list. Their effects can be much more unique than the bonuses found on lower-rarity Traits, making them highly desirable when building a character.
The known Mythic Traits are:
- Man of Steel — 0.025%: Attacks that deal less than 3% of your Health will not stun you.
- Maniac — 0.025%: Deal 10% less damage while above half Health. Below half Health, deal 25% more damage and take 15% less damage.
- Copycat — 0.025%: Stores the last Skill that hits you, excluding Fruit Skills. Press X within 30 seconds to use the stored Skill.
- Gaudy — 0.025%: Gives you a fourth accessory slot.
The Mythic rarity has a listed chance of 0.15%, making these Traits extremely difficult to obtain.
Best Traits to Look For
The best Trait depends heavily on your build and what you spend most of your time doing in Grand Blue. There is no single Trait that is perfect for every player because some effects are designed for combat while others are focused on exploration or progression.
For combat-focused players, Traits such as Assassin, Battle Tempo, Glass Canon, Protagonist, Maniac, and Man of Steel can be particularly valuable. Their effects directly affect damage, survivability, or combat mechanics.
For players focused on progression, Prodigy is a useful option because it increases several types of EXP. Meanwhile, Bargainer, Hoarder, Garbage Collector, and Gourmand can make general gameplay and resource management easier.
For exploration, Diver, Climber, Athlete, and Nimble are worth considering because they improve movement or help you access areas more easily.
Should You Keep Rerolling Traits?
You should not automatically reroll every Trait that is not Legendary or Mythic. A lower-rarity Trait can still be extremely useful if its effect matches your playstyle.
For example, Prodigy is only an Epic Trait, but its EXP bonus can be very useful for players who are focused on leveling. Likewise, Nimble gives an extra dash and can be valuable for players who care about mobility.
Because higher-rarity Traits have very low chances, constantly rerolling in search of a Mythic Trait can quickly use up your Trait Rerolls. It is usually better to keep a Trait that is useful for your current build and only reroll when you have enough resources to spare.
Traits are a useful part of character customization in Grand Blue. They provide passive effects that can improve combat, movement, exploration, resource gathering, and progression.
You can reroll Traits by using Trait Rerolls, which can be obtained through different sources, including redeemable Codes. Since Trait results are random, getting one of the strongest options may require a lot of patience and several attempts.
Common and Uncommon Traits are much easier to obtain, while Epic, Legendary, and especially Mythic Traits are far more difficult to roll. If you get a Trait that works well with your build, there is often no reason to immediately replace it just because its rarity is lower.
As more Traits are discovered and the game receives updates, this list may change with new effects and balance adjustments.
