Grand Blue Pets Guide: How to Get Every Pet

Pets are useful companions in Grand Blue, but they are not something you absolutely need to complete your build. They can still add extra stats, skills, and combat help, making them worth collecting if you want to improve your character or simply complete your collection. The biggest downside is that one of the strongest and most unique pets is locked behind a specific race. There are currently five pets available in Grand Blue. Four can be obtained through normal gameplay, while the Celestial Guard is only available to players who have the Celestial Human race.

Grand Blue Pet Stats

Every pet comes with its own set of stats, and these values can change depending on the pet and its current level. The stat system is generally similar to the one used for your character. The main pet stats include:

• Strength – Affects the pet’s physical combat power.
• Agility – Influences movement and agility-related performance.
• Energy – Used for abilities and energy-based combat functions.
• Willpower – Provides benefits related to the pet’s overall combat capabilities.
• HP – Determines how much damage the pet can take before being defeated.
• Precision – Helps determine the pet’s accuracy and effectiveness with attacks.

Because pet stats improve as they level up, a pet that seems weak at first can become more useful after investing time into it.

How to Get All Grand Blue Pets

Each pet has a different way of being obtained. Some require defeating bosses with a low drop chance, while others can be purchased directly or found by defeating wandering enemies. Here is how you can get every pet currently available:

Celestial Guard

The Celestial Guard is the most restricted pet in Grand Blue because only players with the Celestial Human race can obtain it. Celestial Human itself is extremely rare, with only a 0.1% chance of appearing when using Race Rerolls.

Once you have the Celestial Human race, you need its race-exclusive Fragile ability to unlock the Celestial Guard pet. This makes the pet unavailable to most players unless they happen to roll the required race.

The Celestial Guard is also different from the other pets. Although the game treats it as a pet, it actually works like a customizable NPC. You can change its appearance and decide which skills it can use.

You can even give the Celestial Guard skills and Fruits for combat. This makes it a much more interesting companion than a standard pet, especially if you want to experiment with different combat setups.

Circus Lion [Lioni]

The Circus Lion, also known as Lioni, can be obtained in Clown Town. Look around the central area near the Beast Tamer NPC, where the Circus Lion boss can spawn. You need to defeat the boss for a chance to obtain Lioni. The drop rate is only 0.25%, so expect to fight the boss several times before getting the pet.

Luckily, farming this boss is not too difficult because the Circus Lion respawns around 180 seconds after being defeated. This gives you a reliable way to keep farming until the pet finally drops.

Lioni has another useful feature that separates it from the other pets. It can also be used as a mount. The mount itself is not particularly fast, but having a pet that can double as a mount is still a nice bonus.

Soro

The Soro pet comes from the Soro mini-boss found in Anchor Town. Travel to the First Marine Base, where you can find the Level 20 Soro near a Blonde Goblin NPC that appears to be injured.

Unlike the Circus Lion, Soro does not have a particularly fast respawn time. This means farming for the pet can take longer, especially if you are unlucky with the drop.

The good news is that the Soro pet has a better drop rate. Defeating Soro gives you a 2% chance of obtaining the pet.

If you are specifically hunting for Soro, be prepared to spend some time waiting for the mini-boss to return between attempts.

Small Dog

The Small Dog is easily the simplest pet to obtain in Grand Blue. You can find it in Clown Town, relatively close to the area where the Circus Lion appears. Look for a wooden display case near some crates and barrels. The Small Dog can be found inside the case.

Unlike most of the other pets, you do not have to fight a boss or hunt down a rare enemy to get it. Instead, you can simply purchase the Small Dog for 10,000 Gold. If you have enough Gold available, this is one pet that is worth picking up immediately. Even if you do not plan to use it in combat, the low cost makes it a good addition to your collection.

Chicken [Manok]

The Chicken, also known as Manok, is another pet that requires some luck to obtain. It can spawn around the farming area in Anchor Town. If you spot a chicken walking around the area, defeat it for a chance to obtain the Chicken pet. The spawn itself is not guaranteed, so you may need to spend some time searching before finding one.

Chickens can also appear in Maple Village, particularly around the Beast Wreckage area. This gives you another location to check if you are trying to farm Manok. Because the Chicken has a low chance of appearing and dropping as a pet, getting it may take some patience.

How to Level Up Pets in Grand Blue

Pets gain experience through combat, so the easiest way to level them is to keep them active while fighting enemies. The more battles they participate in, the more EXP they can earn.

As a pet levels up, it can unlock additional skills that improve its usefulness during combat. These skills also have their own Mastery, meaning they can gain EXP through repeated use.

If your pet has a particular skill that you want to improve, try to make sure it is using that skill regularly during fights. This allows you to build its Mastery while the pet continues gaining levels.

Keep in mind that pets are not completely free when it comes to your build. Their skills take up skill slots, similar to the skills available to your own character.

Because of this, you should think carefully before using a pet that takes several slots but does not provide much value. Different pets can require different numbers of slots, so a weaker companion can sometimes take up space that could be used for more useful abilities.

Grand Blue Pet Modes Explained

After equipping a pet, you can choose how it behaves using its available Pet Modes. There are currently three modes, and each one changes how the pet reacts to enemies.

Passive Mode

In Passive Mode, your pet will not fight enemies. Even if the pet itself is attacked, it will remain passive.

This mode is useful if you simply want your pet around without having it interfere with combat or accidentally attack enemies.

Neutral Mode

Neutral Mode gives the pet a defensive behavior. It will only attack when either the pet itself or its owner is attacked.

This is a good middle-ground option if you want your pet to help during dangerous situations without having it automatically start fights.

Aggressive Mode

Aggressive Mode makes the pet actively attack enemies it encounters.

The pet does not wait to be attacked first. If it sees an enemy, it will engage automatically, making this mode more useful when you want your companion to contribute as much as possible during combat.

Are Grand Blue Pets Worth Getting?

Yes, Grand Blue pets are worth collecting, but they are not mandatory for building a strong character. Their usefulness depends on the pet itself, its stats, available skills, slot requirements, and how you plan to play.

The Small Dog is the easiest recommendation because it only costs 10,000 Gold and does not require a boss fight. Lioni is also interesting because it doubles as a mount, while Soro can be worth farming if you want another combat companion.

The Celestial Guard is the biggest exception because of its race restriction. If you do not have Celestial Human, there is currently no normal way to obtain it. For players who do have the race, however, its customizable NPC-like design makes it one of the most interesting pets to experiment with.

Pets in Grand Blue are more of an extra progression system than something every player needs to build around. They can provide additional combat support, unlock different skills, and give you another way to customize your character’s setup.

If you want to collect everything, start with the Small Dog because it is guaranteed for Gold, then work through the boss-based pets. For the harder drops, be ready for some farming since both Lioni and the other combat pets rely on chance.
