Examination has a large collection of badges and achievements that can be earned through exploration, boss fights, quests, challenge runs, and special encounters. Some are simply for completion, while others provide useful rewards such as new classes, weapons, rank upgrades, night vision, and cosmetics. If you want to complete the badge collection efficiently, it is worth focusing on the achievements that provide gameplay rewards first. Several of the harder challenges can make future runs easier once you unlock their rewards.

Basic Progression Badges

Some of the easiest achievements are unlocked naturally as you progress through the game’s sectors. These are good starting points because they require little extra preparation.

  • Necrotic Control: Enter Sector One.
  • Don’t Look at Me: Enter the basement or valve room.
  • Number Four Reactor: Interact with the valve inside the reactor area.
  • Sector Sweep: Reach Sector Two.

These badges are mostly tied to normal progression, so you should eventually unlock them while learning the game and moving through the different areas.

Boss Achievements

Several achievements are connected to major enemies and bosses. Defeating these targets can also provide rank upgrades, making them particularly useful for players working toward progression.

  • Appointment: Kill Diluted to receive a rank upgrade.
  • The Juggernaut: Defeat Sin for another rank upgrade.
  • The Commander: Defeat Chimera to earn a rank upgrade.
  • Unfortunate: Find and heal Josh Katsman in Sector Two.
  • Takeover: Drop to low HP and become infected.

The boss-related badges can be more difficult than the basic progression achievements, so it is better to attempt them once you are comfortable with the game’s combat and survival mechanics.

Challenge Achievements

The challenge achievements are some of the most rewarding badges in Examination. Several of them unlock classes, equipment, movement upgrades, or rank increases.

  • Lost Command: Complete the game solo as the Leader and reach Sector Three. Rewards a rank upgrade.
  • One Man Army: Complete the entire game solo in a private server. Rewards Slide, Night Vision, and a rank upgrade.
  • Under-Equipped: Complete the game solo without selecting a class and reach Sector Three. Rewards the Special Forces classes and a rank upgrade.
  • Veteran of Purgatory: Reach the end of Sector Two without dying. Rewards the Leader class and a rank upgrade.
  • Survivor’s Guilt: Complete the game with at least four players while one member of the team dies.
  • Full House: Join a completely full public server.

If you are specifically hunting for useful rewards, these challenges should be high on your priority list. Leader, Special Forces, Slide, and Night Vision can provide valuable options for future runs.

Sector Three Weapon Badges

Sector Three contains several achievements related to special weapons. These badges require you to find specific weapons from crates or other locations.

  • Requiem: Obtain the RSH-12 from a weapon crate.
  • Razonian Steel: Obtain the KS-23.
  • Escape from a Tagged Era: Obtain the AK-74.
  • Overcooked: Own all four contraband weapons at the same time. Rewards a temporary backpack cosmetic.
  • No Man’s Land: Collect around seven dog tags from fallen MGF soldiers during a single life.

These achievements are worth working toward if you want to collect the game’s weapons while also filling out your badge collection.

Quest and Exploration Achievements

Examination also includes several achievements tied to NPC quests and exploration. Some of these offer more than just a badge, making them useful for progression.

  • Guinea Pig: Complete Tack-Keyon’s quest. Rewards a guaranteed CI.
  • Scout of Shrenkov: Complete Manhattan’s quest. Rewards a permanent cosmetic and a rank upgrade.
  • Preview: Complete the Abu Behind Bomb and receive the Pure Plushy and status.
  • Lab Assistant: Complete Yuri’s quest by finding two NVG parts in Sector One. Rewards NVGs.

These quests can require some exploration, so pay attention to NPC dialogue and locations rather than rushing through the main objectives.

Tunnel Achievements

The tunnels contain their own group of achievements. Some require specific actions, while others involve discovering unusual areas or characters hidden inside.

  • Temporal Anomaly: Enter the tunnels through the lobby showers. Rewards a rank upgrade.
  • Fear Pure: Complete the tunnels without picking up the Saiga pistol. Rewards a rank upgrade.
  • A Familiar Face: Find the NPC hidden inside the tunnels.
  • Nutrispheria: Experience Zangedankenwelt inside the tunnels.
  • Last Light of a Dying Star: Carry Josh from Sector Two all the way back to the player’s farm. Rewards a rank upgrade.

The tunnel badges are easier to approach once you already know the area. For achievements involving specific entrances or items, make sure you follow the requirements exactly.

Razonian Encounter Achievements

Some badges are earned by encountering or fighting special Razonian enemies and vehicles.

  • Rolling Steel: Encounter the BTR-82A.
  • Brazen Bull: Shoot the BTR-82A once with an RPG. Rewards a rank upgrade.
  • Upchuck: Encounter and neutralize a Vortex.
  • Wolf in Sheep’s Head: Kill a Deceiver.
  • Melonian Constabulary: Complete Delgado’s task by killing 15 shielded infected. Rewards the Enforcer class.

The BTR-82A achievements are particularly specific, so simply encountering the vehicle is not enough for Brazen Bull. You need to use an RPG against it to satisfy the requirement.

Yuri’s Quest Achievements

Yuri has a longer achievement chain that eventually leads to some of the more valuable rewards in the game. You will need to complete several requirements before accessing the later parts of the chain.

  • Initiation: Unlock every badge marked with the Yuri quest symbol and start Yuri’s simulation.
  • Exotic Exoneration: Complete Yuri’s simulation with the required badges. Rewards Nightstalker and a rank upgrade.
  • Last Rites of the Ruined King: Complete the faster version of the simulation. Rewards Nightstalker Regalia and another rank upgrade.

Because the Yuri chain has multiple requirements, it is better to work through the related badges gradually instead of trying to complete everything at once.

Other Special Achievements

There are also several achievements that do not fit neatly into the other categories. Some require specific events, while others involve unusual interactions with NPCs or enemies.

  • Total War: Experience a Resonium aerial attack.
  • War Criminal: Kill the unarmed Riff medic while he is treating a soldier.
  • Heart of Menlo: Win an official developer-hosted event. Rewards the M1911 Nightstalker.

The developer event achievement is naturally much harder to plan around because its availability depends on an official event being hosted.

Older Achievements That Are No Longer Available

Not every Examination badge can still be obtained. Several older achievements were tied to historical milestones or limited-time events and are now unavailable.

These include:

  • A Drop in the Ocean: Witness the game reach one million visits.
  • One Grain of Sand: Join before the game reached 10 million visits.
  • Deceiver: Meet the Siren.
  • In the Name of Science: Equip the Elzer Tachyon class during the April Fools event.

If you are trying to reach 100% completion, these older badges may remain unavailable because their original requirements have already passed.

Best Badges to Get First

If your goal is not simply collecting every badge but actually improving your Examination account, prioritize achievements that give permanent gameplay benefits.

A good order to consider is:

  • Veteran of Purgatory for the Leader class and rank upgrade.
  • One Man Army for Slide, Night Vision, and a rank upgrade.
  • Under-Equipped for Special Forces classes and a rank upgrade.
  • Lab Assistant for NVGs.
  • Melonian Constabulary for the Enforcer class.
  • Scout of Shrenkov for the permanent cosmetic and rank upgrade.
  • Exotic Exoneration for Nightstalker and a rank upgrade.
  • Last Rites of the Ruined King for Nightstalker Regalia and another rank upgrade.
  • Boss achievements that provide additional rank upgrades.

Once you have the important gameplay rewards, you can return to the exploration, encounter, and cosmetic achievements to finish cleaning up the collection.

Examination has a wide range of achievements, from simple progression badges to difficult solo challenges and multi-step quest chains. While some are mainly for showing off your completion progress, others provide rewards that can directly improve your future runs.

For the fastest progression, focus on badges that unlock classes, Night Vision, movement upgrades, weapons, and rank upgrades first. After obtaining those rewards, the remaining exploration and encounter achievements should be much easier to work through.
