The Orb of Causality is one of the equipment items you can get in Anime Expeditions. It can be obtained through a stage drop or crafted at the Armory Forge. While its basic stats are not very high, the Orb becomes much stronger when you use its special Causality passive. If you are trying to get this equipment for your God Hand unit, there are two ways to obtain it. You can farm the required stage and hope for the drop, or you can craft it directly at the Armory Forge.
Farm Crimson Shore Mastery
The first way to get the Orb of Causality is by playing the Crimson Shore Mastery stage. However, this stage is not available immediately. You need to finish the normal Crimson Shore story first before you can start farming its Mastery version.
Once the Crimson Shore Mastery stage is unlocked, you can repeatedly clear it for a chance to obtain the Orb. The drop rate is 5% each time you complete the stage.
Because the chance is only 5%, you may need several runs before the Orb finally appears. Some players can get it quickly, while others may have to repeat the stage many times because the drop depends on RNG.
Craft the Orb of Causality
If you do not want to rely on the 5% drop chance, there is another way to obtain the equipment. The Orb of Causality can also be crafted at the Armory Forge.
You can find the Armory Forge inside the Expedition Hub. This gives you a more direct option if you already have the materials needed for the recipe and do not want to spend your time repeatedly farming Crimson Shore Mastery.
After obtaining the Orb, you can equip it on your fifth God Hand unit.
Orb of Causality Basic Stats
The Orb of Causality provides a small general boost to the unit wearing it. Its basic effects include:
- 1% extra damage
- 1% SBA reduction
These bonuses are useful, but they are not the main reason to use this equipment. The more important part of the Orb is its Causality passive, which introduces the Fated meter and Mark of Fate mechanic.
How the Causality Passive Works
The Causality passive gives your equipped unit a Fated meter. The meter starts at 0 points and can reach a maximum of 35 points.
Whenever an enemy survives damage from Distortion, that enemy receives Mark of Fate. At the same time, your unit gains 1 point toward its Fated meter.
The Mark of Fate effect can become important when multiple enemies are affected at the same time. For every enemy currently within range that has Mark of Fate, the equipped unit gains 5% more damage and 25% more range.
This means the Orb can become more useful when your unit is fighting several marked enemies at once.
Mark of Fate Effects
There is an important limit to the Mark of Fate mechanic. The mark cannot stack multiple times on the same enemy.
However, marked enemies still provide another major benefit. Enemies affected by Mark of Fate take 20% increased damage from the unit using the Orb of Causality.
This makes the equipment especially useful for units that can repeatedly apply Distortion and keep multiple enemies marked during a fight.
Is the Orb of Causality Worth Getting?
The Orb of Causality is more interesting than its basic 1% bonuses might suggest. The extra damage and SBA reduction are small, but the Causality passive can provide much bigger benefits depending on how many enemies are marked.
The combination of additional damage, increased range, and bonus damage against marked enemies gives the equipment more value during battles where several enemies can survive Distortion.
The main thing to remember is that Mark of Fate does not stack on one enemy. You need multiple enemies with the mark if you want to take full advantage of the passive’s scaling effects.
Best Way to Get Orb of Causality
There are two options depending on how you want to approach the grind.
If you want to save crafting materials, farm Crimson Shore Mastery and take your chances with the 5% drop rate. This is the simple farming method, although RNG can make the process take a while.
If you already have the materials required by the Armory Forge, crafting is a better way to avoid the random drop system.
Either way, make sure you have the Crimson Shore story completed if you plan to farm the Mastery stage.
