The Wrath Event in Anime Vanguards can be cleared surprisingly fast if you use the right Sin and build your team around its effect. With the correct setup, it is possible to solo Hard Mode in roughly two to three minutes and earn 200 Wrath Coins from each successful run.
The key to this strategy is the Envy Sin and Reimu (Shrine Maid). Envy allows your other non-farm units to copy the damage of your strongest non-farm unit, while Reimu can attack every 0.9 seconds with full AOE. This combination lets her deal massive damage throughout the stage.

Best Sin for Wrath Event Hard Mode
For this strategy, you should always choose Envy when entering the Wrath Event. Its effect reduces the damage of your strongest non-farm unit by 30%, then sets every other non-farm unit to that same damage value.
While losing 30% damage may sound negative, the effect becomes extremely powerful when paired with a unit that attacks quickly. Instead of having only one powerful unit, you can effectively give multiple units the same high damage value.
This is where Reimu becomes the main carry for the strategy. Her fast attack speed and full AOE allow her to take advantage of the damage provided by Envy and repeatedly hit large groups of enemies.
Best Units for the Strategy
Reimu (Shrine Maid) is the most important unit for this setup. If you have her available, she should be the main damage dealer throughout the run. For the strongest damage unit, you can use Gilgamesh with Monarch. His extremely high damage makes him an excellent choice because Envy uses his damage value as the basis for your other non-farm units.
However, Gilgamesh is not mandatory. Other high-damage units such as Dante or Guts can also work. The important part is having a unit capable of reaching a very high damage value. For the rest of the team, you can use:
- Reimu (Shrine Maid): Main damage dealer
- Gilgamesh with Monarch: High-damage unit for the Envy effect
- Zoro: Optional cleanser and protection against the final boss
- Nami: Farm unit
- Speedwagon: Farm unit
- Sixth slot: Any additional unit you want to bring
The sixth slot is flexible because the main setup can already clear the stage without relying heavily on the extra unit.
Recommended Familiars and Traits
The main setup does not require complicated familiar combinations. The most important part is making sure your farm units have the tools needed to generate money quickly.
For Nami and Speedwagon, use the Unlikely Doctor and Uru familiars. You can also use Marksman or a similar option if you want additional range.
Your main high-damage unit should have the appropriate Vanguard familiar, especially if you are using Gilgamesh. Reimu does not require a specific familiar for this strategy, although Marksman can be useful for increasing her range. The cleanser does not require anything special for this strategy.
How to Set Up the Wrath Event
After entering the Wrath Event and selecting Envy, start by placing your farm units. Getting your economy running should be the first priority because you need enough money to upgrade your main damage unit.
Next, place your high-damage unit, such as Gilgamesh. Then place Reimu around the areas where she can cover as many enemies as possible. You should also place your cleanser near your important units. This becomes particularly important later because the final boss can interfere with your units.
Once the initial setup is ready, allow your farms to generate enough money for their upgrades.
Upgrade Order
Following the correct upgrade order is important if you want to clear Hard Mode quickly. Use this progression:
- Max out your farms first.
- Upgrade your strongest damage unit next.
- Max out your main damage unit, such as Gilgamesh.
- Upgrade Reimu after your main damage unit is finished.
- Continue upgrading Reimu as your economy allows.
Once the farms and main damage unit are fully upgraded, most of the remaining work can be handled by Reimu.
Because Envy copies the damage value from your strongest non-farm unit, increasing the damage of that unit also increases the damage potential of Reimu and your other non-farm units.
Why Reimu Is So Strong With Envy
The main reason this strategy works is the interaction between Envy and Reimu’s attack speed.
A high-damage unit such as Gilgamesh can reach an enormous damage number, but its attack pattern is not necessarily as fast as Reimu’s. Envy allows Reimu to use that high damage value while keeping her own fast attack speed.
Reimu attacks every 0.9 seconds and has full AOE, meaning she can repeatedly hit enemies across a large area. Once she receives the Envy damage value, she becomes extremely effective against both groups of enemies and bosses.
This is why Reimu is the most important part of the strategy. If you do not have her, this particular setup will not be nearly as effective and you may need to use a different strategy.
How to Handle the Final Wave
The final wave requires a little more attention than the rest of the stage. Before the boss arrives, check which side of the map the boss is going to use.
A single Reimu may not always have enough coverage to finish the boss quickly if the boss appears on the opposite side of the map. When this happens, move one of your other Reimu units toward the boss’s path.
You can also move another Reimu into the area after the regular enemies have been dealt with. The goal is simply to put enough damage on the correct side of the map so the boss cannot survive for too long.
Your cleanser is also important during this part of the run because the final boss can interfere with your units. Keeping your important damage dealers protected can prevent the run from falling apart at the end.
How Many Wrath Coins Do You Get?
Successfully completing Wrath Event Hard Mode rewards 200 Wrath Coins. This makes the strategy useful for farming the event currency, especially if you can consistently clear the stage in only a few minutes.
The coins can be spent in the Wrath Event Shop on different materials and exclusive rewards, including Vanguard familiars, Memoria Shards, Trait Rerolls, Phoenix Shards, and other event items.
Because Hard Mode provides twice as many coins as Normal Mode, players who can reliably clear it should prioritize Hard Mode for faster farming.
Can You Beat Wrath Hard Mode Without Reimu?
This specific strategy depends heavily on Reimu because of her fast attack speed and full AOE. If you do not own her, you should not expect the same two-minute clear time from this setup. The other units are much more flexible. Your strongest non-farm unit can be replaced with another high-damage character, and the cleanser can also be changed depending on your available units.
Reimu is the main requirement because she is the unit that turns the Envy damage-copy mechanic into such a strong strategy.
The easiest way to approach Wrath Event Hard Mode with this strategy is to combine Envy, Reimu, and a powerful high-damage unit. Start by building your farms, then maximize your strongest damage dealer before putting most of your upgrades into Reimu.
Once the setup is complete, Reimu can use the damage provided by Envy to quickly destroy enemies across the map. Pay extra attention to the final wave and move your Reimu units toward the boss if necessary. With a properly built team, the Wrath Event Hard Mode can be completed in around two to three minutes, giving you 200 Wrath Coins per successful run.
