The Raft Race Marathon has arrived in Clash of Critters, bringing another limited-time event where you can collect extra rewards through the event minigame. While the event looks a little different because of its raft-themed appearance, the basic gameplay is mostly the same.

The event lasts around three days, so there is no need to rush through everything as soon as it becomes available. In fact, saving your progress and rewards until the final day can give you more value, especially if you are preparing for the next event.

Do Not Open the Event Too Early

One of the most important tips for the Raft Race Marathon is to avoid opening the event immediately. The event screen can show rewards that your teammates have already unlocked, allowing you to claim them as soon as you enter the event.

Instead of collecting everything right away, it is better to wait until the final day. This gives you more time to let your team build up the collective rewards before you claim them.

Once the event is close to ending, open the Raft Race and collect the rewards that have accumulated. This can help you save useful items for the next event, which is expected to be the Zobo Shooter.

The only reason to claim rewards earlier is if you urgently need something, such as Pinballs for another activity like Gold Rush.

Use a Lower Multiplier

Raft Race Marathon Clash of Critters Guide, How to Get

The Raft Race lets you choose different multipliers, and it can be tempting to immediately select the highest one for a chance at a huge reward. However, this also comes with much higher risk.

A lower multiplier such as x20 or x50 can provide a more consistent result. You may not get the massive reward that comes from hitting a high-value target with the maximum multiplier, but you also avoid losing a large amount when the results do not go your way.

The highest multiplier can certainly pay off when you land on the right target. For example, a yellow target can provide a much larger reward. The problem is that getting several poor results in a row can quickly make the high multiplier feel wasteful.

For most players, using a lower multiplier and playing more consistently is the safer strategy.

Prioritize Wish Boxes and Pinballs

When choosing rewards from the event chest, Wish Boxes should be one of your first priorities. Pinballs are another useful option and should generally come next. After those two, you can choose based on what you currently need.

Capsules and Bento Boxes can be more useful than taking the Rafts themselves, especially since the direct Raft rewards are relatively small. A simple priority can be:

  • Wish Boxes
  • Pinballs
  • Capsules
  • Bento Boxes
  • Other useful items
  • Rafts

You do not have to follow this order every time. If you are missing a specific resource, adjust your choices around what will help your current progression.

How the Raft Race Works

Despite the event name and the mention of steering in the patch notes, there does not appear to be an actual steering mechanic to worry about. The gameplay is fairly straightforward. During the race, you will see Zobos sitting inside tubes in the water.

Your raft moves through the course and simply crashes through them rather than requiring you to manually steer around them. This means you can focus more on your multiplier and reward choices instead of worrying about controlling the raft.

Which Tatari Should You Choose?

There does not appear to be a major difference between the Tatari choices for the Raft Race. You can simply choose whichever one you like.

There have been references to special combinations or Easter eggs involving certain Tatari in previous versions, including a possible Godzilla-related interaction, but there is no confirmed reason to pick one Tatari over another for the current Raft Race.

Because of that, choose your favorite and start the race.

What Happens to Unused Rafts?

Make sure you use your Rafts before the Raft Race Marathon ends. These event items are temporary and will expire once the event is over. Unused Rafts may be converted into a lower-value item or otherwise lose their usefulness after the event.

Because of this, saving your rewards until the final day does not mean you should forget to spend the Rafts themselves. The best approach is to save them during the event, then use them heavily before the event timer reaches zero.

Should You Spend a Lot on the Event?

The Raft Race Marathon has plenty of collective rewards, so players who spend heavily can make significant progress during the event. However, there is no need for every player to do the same. The event runs for roughly three days, giving you plenty of time to participate without constantly spending resources.

Playing normally and taking advantage of the collective rewards should already give you useful items. If you are trying to maximize your progression, focus on making smart reward choices rather than simply using the biggest multiplier available.

Best Raft Race Strategy

For a simple strategy, follow these steps:

  • Do not immediately open and claim the event rewards.
  • Let your teammates contribute to the collective rewards.
  • Wait until the final day before claiming most of the accumulated rewards.
  • Use x20 or x50 multipliers for more consistent results.
  • Avoid relying too heavily on the highest multiplier.
  • Prioritize Wish Boxes and Pinballs from the chests.
  • Pick Capsules or Bento Boxes when they are more useful for your progression.
  • Choose any Tatari you like since there is no major advantage between them.
  • Save your Rafts during the event.
  • Spend all remaining Rafts before the event expires.
  • Consider saving useful rewards for the upcoming Zobo Shooter event.

The Raft Race Marathon is not a major mechanical change to Clash of Critters, but it can still provide plenty of useful rewards if you approach it correctly. The biggest mistake is rushing through the event and spending everything immediately.

Save the collective rewards until the final day, use safer multipliers, prioritize useful items, and make sure every Raft is spent before the event ends. With a little patience, you can get more value from the three-day event and prepare yourself for the next Zobo Shooter event.
