The Mafia Don is one of the two new classes added to Runaways, alongside the Pro Gamer class. Unlike classes that focus heavily on armor, backpacks, or utility items, Mafia Don gives players a strong starting weapon setup and a major boost to melee damage. The class looks promising at first because you spawn with an AK, revolver, ammunition, and a 50% melee damage increase. However, the lack of armor and a backpack creates some serious problems during longer runs.
What Does the Mafia Don Class Give You?
The Mafia Don class starts each run with several useful items. You receive an AK, a revolver, light ammunition, and 50 Heavy Ammo. The biggest passive bonus is the 50% increased melee damage. This makes melee weapons considerably more powerful and gives the class a different playstyle compared with classes that mainly depend on firearms. The starting equipment includes:
- AK
- Revolver
- Light Ammo
- 50 Heavy Ammo
- 50% increased melee damage
The 50 Heavy Ammo is particularly useful because it represents a significant amount of value and gives you plenty of ammunition for the revolver without needing to immediately spend money on more.
How to Survive the Early Game with Mafia Dons?
The early game is the hardest part of using Mafia Don because you start with neither armor nor a backpack. A simple priority order can make the run much easier:
- Loot nearby towns first.
- Save enough money for a Small Backpack.
- Get Light Armor as soon as possible.
- Look for a strong melee weapon.
- Keep enough money for fuel.
- Consider selling the AK if inventory space becomes a problem.
- Keep the revolver for reliable ranged damage.
- Move toward areas with better loot as your equipment improves.
Once you have a backpack and armor, Mafia Don becomes much more comfortable to use.
Is Mafia Don Worth Buying?
Mafia Don is an interesting class, but its weaknesses make it difficult to recommend over some of the other available options. The 50% melee damage increase is excellent, and the starting revolver is surprisingly powerful. The free ammunition and starting weapons can also help you get through the early stages without immediately buying a firearm. However, the class does not provide a backpack or armor. This creates two major problems: limited inventory space and poor early-game survivability.
Mafia Don is not a completely bad class, but it feels held back by its starting equipment setup. The 50% melee damage boost is excellent, and weapons such as the Cleaver can become extremely powerful with the bonus. The problem is that you have to spend your early money fixing the class’s weaknesses.
Buying a backpack, armor, fuel, and healing items leaves less money available for other upgrades. If you already have enough currency for a stronger class, saving for Juggernaut or Military is likely the better option. If those are still out of reach, Breacher also offers a more balanced starting package than Mafia Don.
