Grand Blue World Boss Guide: Spawn Times, Bosses, Drops, and World Chests!
Grand Blue World Bosses are some of the toughest encounters you can take on, and defeating them is usually not something you can do alone. These powerful enemies are designed around group combat, with other players joining the fight to bring down the boss before the event ends.
The reward makes the effort worthwhile. Players who contribute to a World Boss battle can earn valuable equipment and World Chests, with some of the rarest items offering useful combat bonuses. Here is everything currently known about the Grand Blue World Bosses, including their spawn schedule, strategies, drops, and chest rewards.
Grand Blue World Boss Spawn Times
A World Boss event starts once every hour in Grand Blue. The two currently available bosses take turns appearing, giving players regular opportunities to participate in a boss battle and hunt for their exclusive rewards.
The current World Boss rotation includes:
- Axe-Handed Tyrant
- Choppy the Clown
Because the event happens hourly, players can return for another attempt if they miss a boss or fail to get the item they want. Keep an eye on the event timing if you are specifically farming one of the boss-exclusive capes.
1. Axe-Handed Tyrant
Axe-Handed Tyrant, also known as Axe-Hand Logan, uses a combination of close-range attacks and AoE abilities. His axe hand makes melee range particularly dangerous, as he can quickly reduce your HP when you stay too close for too long.
The boss can also summon Level 90 Marines during the fight. These reinforcements are generally gun-wielding enemies that stay away from the main battle and fire at players from a distance. If you are focused entirely on Axe-Hand, these extra enemies can deal surprising amounts of damage.
How to Beat Axe-Handed Tyrant
Long-range combat is one of the safer ways to deal with Axe-Handed Tyrant. Many of his attacks are focused around close combat, so maintaining distance gives you more time to react and continue damaging him.
Fighting from farther away also makes it easier to monitor what is happening around the arena. You can see incoming Marines, watch for players who need help, and move away when the boss begins preparing an AoE attack.
Try to avoid standing directly in front of the boss for extended periods. Instead, attack from a safe distance and reposition whenever his attacks or summoned enemies start putting pressure on your group.
Axe-Handed Tyrant Drops
The main boss-exclusive reward currently associated with Axe-Handed Tyrant is the Marine Captain’s Cape.
- Marine Captain’s Cape
- Drop chance: 2%
- +13 Strength
- +29 Health
- Equipment slot: Back
The 2% drop rate makes the cape a rare reward, so you may need to participate in multiple World Boss events before obtaining it.
2. Choppy the Clown
Choppy the Clown, also known as Buggy, is considered the more difficult of the two current World Bosses because of his unusual combat properties. He is invulnerable to both sword-based attacks and long-range attacks, limiting which weapons and abilities can effectively damage him.
This makes choosing the right build particularly important before entering the fight. Players using suitable Logia Fruits have a much easier time surviving the encounter, especially when dealing with Choppy and the enemies he summons.
How to Beat Choppy the Clown
Using a Logia Fruit such as Flame or Darkness is one of the recommended approaches for fighting Choppy. These abilities can make it more difficult for Choppy and his minions to hit you, giving you more room to stay alive while contributing damage.
Choppy can also summon Clowns during the encounter. These enemies can quickly become a problem when several of them are active at the same time. Rather than allowing the summoned enemies to pile up, clear them when they begin overwhelming the battlefield before returning your attention to the boss.
The fight becomes much easier when players work together and avoid allowing the summoned Clowns to surround the group.
Choppy the Clown Drops
Choppy has his own exclusive cape, which provides a different set of bonuses from the Axe-Handed Tyrant reward.
- Circus Leader’s Cape
- Drop chance: 2%
- +17 Agility
- +21 Health
- Equipment slot: Back
Like the Marine Captain’s Cape, the Circus Leader’s Cape has only a 2% drop chance, so collecting it can require several successful World Boss runs.
Grand Blue World Boss Chests
World Boss Chests provide another source of rewards after participating in these events. The chests can contain multiple types of items, with the rarest equipment being the main target for players who regularly farm World Bosses.
One of the notable rare rewards is the Flame Ring. Its extremely low drop rate makes it considerably harder to obtain than the boss-exclusive capes.
Flame Ring
The Flame Ring currently has a 0.5% drop chance from World Boss Chests.
Its bonuses include:
- +14 Energy
- +13 Strength
- Flaming Fists passive
- M1S attacks ignite enemies and deal burn damage
- Equipment slot: Hand slot 1, 2, or 3
The Flaming Fists passive gives the ring an additional combat effect beyond its basic stats. When equipped, M1S attacks can ignite enemies, adding burn damage to your attacks. Because the Flame Ring has a 0.5% drop chance, players looking for it should expect the chest farming process to take considerably longer than obtaining more common rewards.
World Boss Farming Tips
World Bosses are built around group participation, so you do not necessarily need to deal with the entire encounter by yourself. Staying alive and consistently contributing damage can be more useful than taking unnecessary risks for a few extra attacks. Keep these points in mind when farming the events:
- Check the hourly World Boss rotation so you do not miss the event.
- Use long-range attacks against Axe-Handed Tyrant when possible.
- Watch for Level 90 Marine reinforcements during the Axe-Hand fight.
- Move away when Axe-Hand prepares an AoE attack.
- Use a suitable Logia Fruit against Choppy the Clown.
- Flame and Darkness are useful options for the Choppy encounter.
- Deal with summoned Clowns before they overwhelm your group.
- Participate consistently if you are hunting the 2% boss cape drops.
- Open World Boss Chests for a chance at additional rare equipment.
- Keep farming if you are targeting the 0.5% Flame Ring.
Grand Blue’s World Boss events give players a reason to work together while offering some of the game’s more valuable equipment. Axe-Handed Tyrant focuses heavily on close-range and AoE attacks, making distance an important part of the fight, while Choppy the Clown requires a more specific approach because of his resistance to swords and ranged attacks.
With World Boss events appearing every hour and rotating between the two encounters, there are regular opportunities to hunt their exclusive capes and collect World Boss Chests. The rarest rewards, such as the 0.5% Flame Ring, may take plenty of attempts, so consistent participation is key.
