Lantern Project Slayers 2 Guide, How to Obtain & What It Does!

Lanterns are useful equipment in Slayers 2, especially when you are exploring the map at night. Dark areas can make it difficult to see your surroundings, while having a lantern can improve visibility and sometimes provide additional effects.

There are several ways to obtain lanterns, depending on the item you are looking for. Some are purchased from NPCs, while others can be found through chests and activities. Knowing the source of each lantern can make farming much easier.

How to Get Lanterns

The easiest lantern to obtain early in the game comes from Kuro, an NPC located near the Mother Bear farming area. He sells a basic lantern that can help new players see more clearly when traveling through dark areas.

The basic lantern is not one of the strongest options, but it is useful when you are just starting out. You can replace it later after finding lanterns with better illumination or additional effects. For an early lantern, follow these steps:

  1. Travel to the Mother Bear farming area.
  2. Look for the NPC named Kuro.
  3. Interact with Kuro and check his shop.
  4. Purchase the basic lantern.
  5. Equip it from your inventory.

Another lantern you may encounter is the Cherry Blossom Lantern. It provides an illumination effect and can be useful during nighttime exploration. While it is not considered one of the strongest lanterns, it is still a reasonable option while you continue searching for better equipment.

For stronger lanterns, use the Archives before you start farming. The Archives can help identify where particular items come from, including lanterns that are tied to specific chest types or activities. Some of the important sources to check include:

  • World Event Chests
  • Luck Chests
  • Higher-tier chests
  • Rewards from specific world activities

World Event Chests are connected to World Adventures and other events throughout the game. If you are already completing these activities for experience and other rewards, it is worth checking their associated chests for equipment.

Luck Chests are another useful source. These chests can appear across different parts of the map and come in multiple tiers. Some are protected by NPCs, so you may need to defeat nearby enemies before the chest becomes available.

When searching for Luck Chests:

  1. Explore different regions of the map.
  2. Look for chests placed around the environment.
  3. Check whether NPCs are guarding the chest.
  4. Defeat the enemies if necessary.
  5. Open the chest and collect the rewards.
  6. Continue searching if the lantern you want does not drop.

The Snow area is also worth paying attention to because certain lanterns can provide effects that help with environmental hazards. The Ember Heart Lantern, for example, provides Cold Immunity, making it useful when dealing with the cold mechanic in the Snow region.

Its protection does have a limitation. You need to restore the immunity by spending time near campfires located around the Snow area. This makes the Ember Heart Lantern especially useful for players who plan to spend a lot of time exploring the region.

Different lanterns can also have different illumination levels and effects. Because of this, do not choose a lantern based only on its appearance. Check its stats and abilities before replacing your current one.

If you are hunting for a specific lantern, the Archives should be your first stop. Instead of opening random chests around the world, check the item’s listed source and focus your farming there.

Keep in mind that some lanterns can have low drop rates. You may need to complete the same activity or open several chests before getting the item you want.

Lanterns are useful equipment in Slayers 2 because they can improve nighttime visibility while some variants also provide special effects. New players can start with the basic lantern sold by Kuro near the Mother Bear area before moving on to stronger options.

As you progress through Slayers 2, upgrading your lantern can make exploration much more comfortable. A better lantern is especially valuable when traveling at night or entering areas where its special effects can help you survive.
