Katanas are some of the most important weapons in Slayers 2, especially because sword combat plays a major role in the game. Getting your first katana early can make combat much easier while also letting you start building Sword Mastery.

There are several types of katanas available, ranging from cheap starter weapons to powerful boss drops and endgame crafts. This guide covers how to get your first katana, the available weapons, V2 upgrades, and the strongest options to work toward.

How to Unlock Katana in Slayers 2

The easiest way to get a katana is by purchasing one from Raze’s Sword Shop in Windy Peak. This area is where you initially spawn, and the shop is marked on the minimap, making it relatively easy to find.

  • Raze sells two basic Nichirin weapons: the Regular Katana for 500 Wen and the Fancy Katana for 1,500 Wen. The Regular Katana is the better choice for new players because it is much cheaper while giving you access to sword combat and Sword Mastery immediately.
  • You can usually earn enough Wen for the Regular Katana after completing several early quests. There is little reason to wait for a more expensive weapon when you can start progressing with a basic katana.
  • The Fancy Katana is also available from Raze, but its small stat improvement does not make it particularly attractive for its price. Saving your Wen for future equipment and upgrades is generally more useful.

Later in the game, stronger katanas become available through boss drops and crafting. Many of the strongest weapons require specific materials and an existing katana, so keeping your older weapons can be important.

How to Get V2 Katanas in Slayers 2

V2 katanas are upgraded versions of several existing weapons and require you to complete a quest before you can craft them. Start by traveling to Hidden Mist Village and speaking with Blacksmith Togane.

After starting his quest, you need to enter the Ouwigahara Dungeon and earn 90,000 points. The dungeon can be found in the southwestern section of the overall map, so make sure you are prepared before heading there.

Once you reach the required 90,000 points, return to Blacksmith Togane. You can then use the required materials to craft the corresponding V2 katana.

Mythic Refinement Ores are particularly important for these upgrades, so avoid selling them if you are planning to work toward a V2 weapon. The crafting requirements can take time to gather, especially if you are upgrading multiple weapons.

You also need the original version of a katana in your inventory before crafting its V2 counterpart. For example, you need the Serpent Katana before making the Serpentine Katana.

Some other examples include:

  • Serpentine Katana requires the Serpent Katana.
  • Volcanic Katana requires the Flame Katana.
  • Tornadic Katana requires the Wind Katana.

Because of these requirements, it is worth keeping useful boss-drop katanas instead of immediately selling them after obtaining them.

What Is the Best Katana in Slayers 2?

The Nightfall Katana stands out as one of the strongest endgame katanas based on its listed stats. It provides +5.75 Additional Damage, a 1.14x Additional Damage Factor, +6.2 Block Points, 2.06x Block Regen Speed, and +5 Stamina.

Its combination of damage and defensive bonuses makes it particularly valuable for players who have progressed far enough to craft it. However, reaching this stage requires considerably more progression than getting a basic katana.

For players who are still working through the main progression, boss-drop weapons are much more accessible. The Wind, Sound, and Flame katanas are notable options because each provides +2 Additional Damage and a 1.04x Additional Damage Factor alongside +1.95 Block Points.

The best weapon for your character can also depend on which bonuses you value. Weapons such as Insect and Thunder provide movement and stamina-related bonuses, while Water focuses heavily on block points and block regeneration.

Getting a katana should be one of your early goals in Slayers 2. The Regular Katana only costs 500 Wen at Raze’s Sword Shop, making it an easy first upgrade that also allows you to start building Sword Mastery.

From there, you can hunt bosses for rare drops or gather materials for stronger crafted weapons. Once you reach Hidden Mist Village and unlock the V2 crafting progression through Blacksmith Togane, you can start working toward some of the game’s more powerful katanas, including the Nightfall Katana.
