The main goal is to collect as many Samples as possible during the Dr. Scrambles event. With the right server and farming route, you can collect a large amount during each event and spend them on the new rewards.
How the Dr. Scrambles Event Works
Dr. Scrambles’ event takes place periodically and gives players a limited amount of time to collect Samples. When the event begins, Dr. Scrambles’ drones start appearing in the Abyssal area and locations beyond it.
Your main objective is to destroy these drones. Every drone you defeat drops Samples, and the amount depends on the drone’s health. Higher-HP drones provide considerably more Samples than the weaker ones.
The event lasts for around five minutes, so you need to use the available time efficiently. Rather than staying in one location and destroying every drone you encounter, moving through multiple areas can help you find the valuable high-HP drones faster.
How to Farm Samples Fast
The most important part of the event is choosing which drones to attack. There are three main drone types based on their health:
- 3 HP drones give relatively small Sample rewards.
- 5 HP drones provide better rewards.
- 10 HP drones provide the largest Sample rewards.
A 3 HP drone can give only a handful of Samples, while a 10 HP drone can provide significantly more. Because of this difference, chasing higher-HP drones is much more efficient when your goal is to maximize Samples.
During the event, travel through the Abyssal area and the areas beyond it while looking for 5 HP and 10 HP drones. Defeat those first whenever possible, then return to the weaker drones after the better targets have been cleared.
Using a Bat is also useful for the event because you need to hit the drones repeatedly to destroy them. Better Bats can make attacking more comfortable because of their attack range and swing behavior, although the damage dealt to these drones remains one damage per hit.
Use a Less Crowded Server
Other players can make Sample farming more difficult because everyone is competing for the same drones. If several players are running through the same areas, valuable high-HP drones can disappear before you reach them.
A quieter server gives you more freedom to move around and defeat drones without constantly competing for targets. You can look through the server list for servers with very few players and join one that still allows new players to enter.
A private server can also work well if you have access to one. The important thing is having enough space to farm without other players taking your targets.
Once the event starts, immediately travel toward the Abyssal area and begin searching for high-HP drones instead of waiting in one spot.
What Can You Buy With Samples?
Samples are used in the new Experiment Shop. The shop contains several exclusive rewards connected to the Dr. Scrambles update.
Some of the notable rewards include:
- Nibbles egg.
- Experiment 001 egg.
- Scrambled Flask.
- Other limited event rewards.
The Nibbles and Experiment 001 rewards are connected to the new content introduced with Dr. Scrambles. The Scrambled Flask is particularly interesting because it can provide a chance to apply the new Scrambled mutation.
If you are trying to use your Samples efficiently, consider saving enough for the exclusive eggs first before spending everything on mutation items.
Nibbles Egg and Experiment 001
The Nibbles egg is one of the new rewards available through the event shop. It has a Cosmic rarity and can be obtained using Samples, although its performance may not be particularly impressive compared with some stronger pets already available in the game.
The Nibbles pet shown in the update has around 370K per second after growing. Because of that, players looking purely for the strongest possible pet may want to prioritize other rewards instead.
Experiment 001 is another major reward connected to the update. The creature is presented as an unusual axolotl-like experiment and is part of the new Dr. Scrambles storyline. Its egg is limited, so collecting enough Samples to obtain it can be worthwhile if you want to complete the new content.
The shop also appears to have limited stock for these eggs, meaning you may need to wait for them to restock before purchasing another one.
How to Complete the Secret Vault Quest
A secret quest has also been added near the Abyss area. To start looking for it, head through the tunnel in the Abyss and find the new NPC inside.
The NPC asks you to locate several missing parts needed to repair or complete a mysterious vault. Some of the pieces can be found directly around the biome, while the remaining parts come from drones during the event.
One of the first parts can be found near the dinosaur. Look behind the nearby bush to locate the missing piece and collect it.
Another part can be found inside the volcano. If the item does not appear correctly, try joining another server and checking again. The location was reportedly adjusted so players need to enter the volcano rather than searching around its exterior.
Get the Remaining Vault Parts From Drones
The other parts required for the vault quest come from Dr. Scrambles’ drones. These are obtained randomly, so you may need to defeat several drones before collecting everything.
There are three drone health levels, and each type can provide a different quest part. Keep defeating drones until you have collected all of the required pieces.
A useful strategy is to pay attention to which drone type has already given you a part. If you already received a piece from a lower-health drone, focus on finding the higher-health versions to increase your chances of getting the remaining part.
After collecting all the required pieces, return to the NPC and complete the vault quest to receive its reward.
Find the Secret Developer Room
There is another hidden area connected to the new quest. While exploring the vault area, look for the vent that leads to a secret room.
Inside, you can find references to the game’s development along with content involving Brocadile and the game’s creator. The room also appears to contain clues about future events.
The hidden area references Dr. Scrambles’ encounters with characters including Sammy, Brocadile, and Ben. These details appear to tease another storyline event for the following weekend.
This means the current update is also being used to set up the next part of the game’s ongoing event storyline.
How to Use the Scrambled Mutation
The new Scrambled Flask is another important addition. It gives you a chance to apply the Scrambled mutation to an egg or pet.
Players who still have Fractured Shards from previous content can potentially combine them with the new Scrambled mutation system. This can create opportunities to stack different effects onto valuable eggs.
Because of that, it may be worth saving some older mutation-related items instead of immediately spending everything. A strong egg combined with useful mutations can potentially be much more valuable than applying the effect to a weaker pet.
Are the New Eggs Worth Getting?
The answer depends on what you want from the update. If your main objective is collecting new content, the Nibbles and Experiment 001 eggs are important because they are exclusive to this event.
For pure pet performance, however, Nibbles may not be the most attractive option. Its reported output is around 370K per second, which puts it below some stronger pets that can already be obtained elsewhere.
Because Samples are limited by the event’s farming time, you may want to prioritize Experiment 001 and save additional Samples for Scrambled Flasks rather than immediately purchasing multiple Nibbles eggs.
Best Dr. Scrambles Farming Strategy
For the fastest Sample farming routine, prepare your server before the event begins. A quiet or nearly empty server is useful because you can move through the event areas without constantly competing with other players.
Once Dr. Scrambles appears, follow this routine:
- Head toward the Abyssal area.
- Move through the areas where drones spawn.
- Search for 10 HP drones first.
- Defeat 5 HP drones whenever you find them.
- Ignore or delay 3 HP drones when stronger targets are nearby.
- Continue moving between areas instead of camping in one location.
- Defeat weaker drones after the valuable targets are gone.
- Spend your Samples on the rewards you actually want.
A strong farming session can provide a significant number of Samples. The exact amount will depend on how many high-HP drones you find and how quickly you can destroy them.
Other Content Still Available
The update does not completely remove the previous limited content. The Shattered Rift Egg remains available for another period, giving players more time to work toward its rewards.
However, the rifts that previously appeared around the map have been removed. This also means the previous purple boss encounter is no longer available, and the related Mutation Shards can no longer be purchased from that content.
The existing limited egg also remains available, so players can continue working on older rewards while farming the new Dr. Scrambles event.
The Dr. Scrambles update gives Steal An Egg a new farming loop centered around Samples and drone encounters. The key to getting the most out of it is not simply defeating every drone you see, but actively searching for the 5 HP and 10 HP variants that provide much better rewards.
