Slayers 2 Flame Breathing Guide: How to Unlock It
Flame Breathing is one of the Breathing Styles available in Slayers 2. However, finding the trainer is only the beginning. You need to reach the required level, collect enough Wen and Demon Horns, and then complete six different training challenges before the style becomes available. The training includes several mini-games and ends with a fight against the Flame Trainee. Once all objectives are finished, you can unlock Flame Breathing skills through the Skill Tree.
Where to Find the Flame Breathing Trainer
The Flame Breathing trainer is Rengu, and he can be found on top of a large wooden house in the Forgotten Ruins area. His position on the rooftop makes him easy to miss if you are only searching around ground level.
To reach Forgotten Ruins, travel to Mistfall Harbour and cross the long red bridge. After crossing it, turn left and use the hanging bridge. Continue through the area until you reach Forgotten Ruins and look for the large wooden house close to the Rengu boss area.
Climb the building to reach the rooftop, where Rengu is waiting. Having Wall Climb and Double Jump unlocked is recommended because both abilities make it much easier to reach the trainer and move around the surrounding area.
Flame Breathing Unlock Requirements
Before Rengu allows you to begin the training, your character needs to meet several requirements. You need to reach Level 25, collect 6,000 Wen and obtain 10 Demon Horns.
The requirements are:
- Level 25.
- 6,000 Wen.
- 10 Demon Horns.
The Demon Horns can be obtained by defeating Hoyuzo Subordinates or the Hoyuzo Boss. Hoyuzo Subordinates have around a 30% chance to drop one Demon Horn, while the Hoyuzo Boss has around a 50% chance to drop three Demon Horns.
It is a good idea to farm the Demon Horns before visiting Rengu. This prevents you from having to leave the area and return later because you are missing the required materials.
How to Start Flame Breathing Training
Once you have reached Level 25 and collected the required Wen and Demon Horns, speak with Rengu on the rooftop. Interacting with him starts the Flame Breathing questline. The training consists of six separate objectives. After completing each challenge, check the active quest marker because it will direct you toward the location of the next training task. You need to complete every challenge before Flame Breathing becomes available.
Meditation Training
The first challenge is Meditation, which uses a timing-based mini-game. You will see a moving indicator and need to press the required button at the correct moment. Continue following the prompts and successfully completing the timing checks until the progress reaches 100%. Once the Meditation objective is finished, follow the quest marker to begin the next challenge. The key is to focus on the indicator rather than repeatedly pressing buttons without checking its position. Taking your time can help prevent unnecessary mistakes.
Push Up Training
The second challenge is Push Ups. This task also uses timing-based button prompts that appear on the screen. Watch the indicator and press the displayed buttons when the timing is correct. Keep completing the prompts until the progress reaches 100%. Once the Push Up challenge is complete, the quest will update and show you where to go for the next training objective.
Boulder Split Training
Boulder Split is the third Flame Breathing training challenge. During this mini-game, you need to interact with the boulder and follow the movement or input prompts shown on the screen. Keep your inputs aligned with the requirements until the boulder-splitting objective is completed. After finishing it, check your quest marker again to find the next training location. This challenge is straightforward as long as you follow the prompts instead of trying to complete the interaction too quickly.
Aim Training
The fourth challenge is Aim Training. Unlike the previous tasks, this one focuses on accuracy and requires you to hit targets that appear during the mini-game. Keep targeting and hitting the required objects until the challenge is marked as complete. Pay attention to where each target appears and continue until you reach the required progress. After finishing Aim Training, follow the new quest marker to the Cup Training challenge.
Cup Training
Cup Training is a memory mini-game and can be slightly more difficult than the earlier challenges. A ball will be placed underneath one of three cups before the cups begin moving around. Your job is to remember which cup contains the ball and select the correct one after the cups finish shuffling.
You need to successfully complete this challenge 10 times. You also have three lives, so making a mistake can cost one of them. To make the challenge easier, focus on the cup containing the ball before the shuffle begins. Follow its movement carefully rather than trying to guess where it ends up. Once you successfully complete all 10 rounds, the final Flame Breathing training objective becomes available.
Defeat the Flame Trainee
The final challenge requires you to defeat the Flame Trainee mini boss. This is the combat portion of the Flame Breathing training and is different from the earlier mini-games.
Avoid attacking continuously without watching the boss. Pay attention to its attack patterns and dodge incoming attacks whenever necessary. Creating some distance can also give you more time to react when the Flame Trainee begins an attack.
Once the Flame Trainee has been defeated, all six training objectives will be complete.
How to Unlock Flame Breathing Skills
After completing all six challenges and defeating the Flame Trainee, you will unlock access to Flame Breathing. However, the individual abilities still need to be unlocked through the Skill Tree. Open the Skill Tree and use your available Skill Points to purchase the Flame Breathing abilities. Continue unlocking the skills as you earn more Skill Points and progress your character.
The complete progression is:
- Reach Level 25.
- Collect 6,000 Wen.
- Obtain 10 Demon Horns.
- Find Rengu in Forgotten Ruins.
- Speak with Rengu at the rooftop.
- Complete Meditation.
- Complete Push Ups.
- Complete Boulder Split.
- Complete Aim Training.
- Complete Cup Training 10 times.
- Defeat the Flame Trainee.
- Open the Skill Tree.
- Spend Skill Points on Flame Breathing abilities.
Tips for Getting Flame Breathing
The biggest preparation step is collecting the Demon Horns before starting the quest. Since you need 10 of them, farming them ahead of time saves you from making another trip after reaching Rengu.
You should also unlock Wall Climb and Double Jump before attempting the quest. Rengu is located on a rooftop, and these movement abilities make reaching him much easier.
During the training itself, pay attention to each mini-game’s mechanics. Meditation and Push Ups rely on timing, Boulder Split follows interaction prompts, Aim Training requires accuracy, and Cup Training tests your memory.
For the final boss, focus on survival instead of rushing the fight. Once the Flame Trainee is defeated, the entire training sequence is finished and Flame Breathing can be developed through the Skill Tree.
Flame Breathing in Slayers 2 requires a short progression quest rather than simply paying a trainer to learn the style. Start by reaching Level 25, gathering 6,000 Wen and collecting 10 Demon Horns before visiting Rengu in Forgotten Ruins.
After that, complete the six training challenges, including the Cup Training memory game and the final Flame Trainee battle. Once everything is completed, Flame Breathing is unlocked and you can begin spending Skill Points to obtain its available abilities.
