The Sword Fights on the Heights IV quest in The Hunt 20 has a long boss progression that requires you to collect several swords and upgraded versions of them. The main objective is to defeat Shedletsky through multiple stages, but you cannot simply use one weapon for the entire fight.
You will need to find special swords, trigger different phases of the boss battle, and return to Shedletsky several times. Here is the full process to get the secret badge and unlock the Happy Home item.
Get the Venom Shank and Ilumina
Start by collecting the Venom Shank. After getting it, head over to the Ilumina area and collect the Ilumina sword as well. Next, go to the location where the John of Muses badge can be found. Use the Ilumina to fly toward the back of this area. Reaching this location should trigger the first Shedletsky boss encounter.
During this fight, Shedletsky can only be damaged by the Venom Shank. Make sure you use the Venom Shank and avoid wasting time attacking him with other weapons. The poison effect from the sword is what damages the boss.
Enter the Second Boss Phase
After progressing through the first fight, head toward the bridge where you should see a flame ring. Use the Ilumina to fly through the flame ring.
If controlling the Ilumina is difficult, using two attempts can make reaching the ring easier. Once you successfully enter the flame ring, the next part of the boss fight will become available.
For this phase, switch to the Classic Sword and use it against Shedletsky. Keep attacking until your sword stops dealing damage.
When firebrands begin falling from above and Shedletsky starts holding a Firebrand, you have reached the next phase. At this point, you need to allow Shedletsky to defeat you. After dying, the game should display the message telling you to get a stronger sword.
Collect All Seven Swords
Once the next stage has been unlocked, your next objective is to collect all seven swords around the map. The swords you need are:
- Darkheart
- Ilumina
- Ghostwalker
- Venom Shank
- Firebrand
- Ice Dagger
- Windforce
Make sure you collect every sword before continuing with the next part of the quest. These weapons are required to unlock the upgraded versions needed for the later boss phases.
Get the Upgraded Firebrand
After collecting the Windforce, use the Ilumina to fly toward the small island. There should be a character on the island that you can interact with.
Go up to the character and press E. After interacting with him, you should receive the upgraded Firebrand.
With the stronger Firebrand in your inventory, return to Shedletsky for the second major boss encounter.
Defeat Shedletsky With the Firebrand
The second fight follows a similar pattern. Start by using the Classic Sword against Shedletsky.
Continue attacking until the first phase is completed. When the second phase begins, switch over to the upgraded Firebrand and use it to damage him.
Be careful during this section because large swords will start falling from the sky. Watch the red markers on the ground, as they show where the giant swords are going to land. Move away from these areas before the swords hit.
Eventually, Shedletsky will enter another phase where he uses Darkheart. When you reach this point, let him defeat you again to unlock the next stage of the quest.
Get the Upgraded Darkheart
After unlocking the next stage, collect the Darkheart and then find the Ghostwalker.
Once you have both swords, head toward the location of the Ice Dagger. Drop down behind the Ice Dagger area and look for another character.
Interact with this character to receive the upgraded version of Darkheart. This stronger weapon is needed for the next Shedletsky battle.
Fight Shedletsky for the Third Time
Return to Shedletsky after obtaining the upgraded Darkheart. This battle requires you to use the weapons in a specific progression.
Start with the Classic Sword, then use the Firebrand, and finally switch to the upgraded Darkheart when the fight reaches the appropriate stage.
During the Darkheart phase, watch out for the Darkheart attacks and hazards covering the floor. Using the Ilumina or Ghostwalker can help you jump higher and avoid some of the dangerous areas.
Once you reach the next progression point, allow Shedletsky to defeat you again. This will unlock the following stage of the quest.
Find the Two Cards
The next part requires you to locate two cards around the map. The first card can be found near the Venom Shank.
The second card is located around the Abyss teleporter. Check slightly in front of the teleporter and look for the card on the floor.
Collect both cards to progress the quest. Once you have obtained them, you should receive the upgraded Ilumina.
Complete the Final Shedletsky Fight
The upgraded Ilumina is the final weapon you need to complete the entire Shedletsky fight. Return to the boss location for the fourth and final battle.
Use the weapons in the required order:
- Classic Sword
- Firebrand
- Darkheart
- Upgraded Ilumina
Use each weapon during its corresponding boss phase. The final phase requires the upgraded Ilumina, so make sure you have completed the card objective before starting this fight.
Be careful with Shedletsky’s attacks and keep moving whenever dangerous attacks appear. Med Kits can also be useful if you are running low on health.
Use Armor and Med Kits
Some of the Shedletsky battles can be difficult, especially if you are trying to complete them without additional protection. Before starting another attempt, collect armor available around the map.
Med Kits are also useful for recovering health during the fights. Having extra healing items can give you more room to make mistakes while dealing with the different boss attacks.
Using armor, healing items, and the correct sword for each phase makes the progression much easier to manage.
Claim the Secret Badge and Reward
After defeating Shedletsky during the final encounter, the Sword Fights on the Heights IV secret badge should be awarded to you.
Once you have finished the fight, return to The Hunt 20 hub. You need to claim your reward there after completing the Sword Fights on the Heights IV objective.
The badge also gives you access to the Happy Home building item, making the entire multi-stage sword collection and boss fight worth completing.
