The R20 event in Lumber Tycoon 2 has a secret badge and special Glorb Axe that can be unlocked by completing a hidden puzzle. The process was originally much harder because several parts of the quest were buggy and required more items, but the event has since been nerfed and is now easier to complete.
This guide explains the current method from the beginning, including how to find the skeleton, unlock the Glorb bags, solve the Glorb color sequence, enter the secret cave, and claim the Glorb Axe badge.
Get Land and a Vehicle First
If you are starting from a fresh slot, the first thing you should do is load the slot where you want to complete the puzzle. The progress for unlocking the Glorb bags is connected to the slot you use, so it is important to keep using the same slot throughout the process.
You will need some Lumber Bucks to purchase land and eventually get a vehicle. Start by cutting down a few Oak trees and selling the wood at the Wood Drop Off. Keep selling wood until you have more than 100 Lumber Bucks.
Once you have enough money, head to the Land Store and purchase a plot. After buying the land, you can detach your sold sign and sell it at the Wood Drop Off to get additional money. This should give you enough funds to purchase a vehicle, which makes traveling around the map much easier.
Find the Secret Skeleton
With your vehicle ready, drive toward the corner of the map where you can find a set of trusses. These structures can be climbed, so use them to reach the higher area.
Look around the rock formation near the top until you find a small opening. The hole can be somewhat difficult to spot if you have never visited the area before, but once you locate it, drop down through the opening.
After dropping down, look behind the ladder. You should find a cavern that continues deeper into the area. Follow this cave until you eventually reach a skeleton.
Interact with the skeleton to unlock the ability to open the Glorb bags on that particular slot. This step is important because the bags cannot be opened properly until the skeleton has been found.
After speaking with the skeleton, you can reload your slot. This is a convenient way to return directly to your base before continuing the next part of the puzzle.
Open the Glorb Bags
Return to the Wood R Us area and make sure you have some Glorb bags from the original quest. You may need more than one bag because getting the correct Glorb color can require multiple attempts.
The important thing to remember is that the skeleton unlock is tied to the slot you used. If you talked to the skeleton on one slot, make sure that same slot is loaded when you attempt to open the Glorb bags.
When you receive a Glorb from the bag, you need to check its color. The target sequence begins with the correct Lavender Glorb.
Press the interaction button on the Lavender Glorb. If it immediately changes into a Black Glorb, you have found the correct Lavender Glorb for the puzzle.
Complete the 16-Press Glorb Sequence
Once you have the correct Lavender Glorb, continue pressing the Glorb interaction until you complete the required sequence. After the initial successful interaction, you need to press it 16 more times.
The colors that appear are important because the Glorb sequence is not random. Follow the sequence carefully and stop when you reach the correct Orange Glorb marked with the star.
If your sequence does not match the required pattern, you may need to obtain another Glorb bag and try again. The goal is to eventually get the Glorb that follows the correct color chain.
Take the Orange Glorb to the Secret Tunnel
After obtaining the correct Orange Glorb, take it with you and drive toward the mountain area. A newer path makes this part of the puzzle considerably easier than the original version.
Follow the path around the mountain until you reach the entrance to the secret tunnel. You will eventually find a hidden cave entrance that contains a specific hole for the Glorb.
Before entering the tunnel, turn on your vehicle headlights. On PC, you can press L to activate the lights, while mobile players can use the vehicle’s light button.
Drive into the tunnel and place the correct Orange Glorb into the designated hole. If you have used the correct Glorb and completed the sequence properly, the door should begin opening.
Collect the Three Secret Items
Once the hidden door opens, enter the room behind it. You should find three new items sitting on separate pedestals.
Pick up all three items and take them with you. After collecting them, drive back out through the tunnel and return toward the mainland.
The cave can be a little dark and confusing, so keep your headlights on while leaving. Once you are outside, continue driving back toward the area where you originally found the trusses.
Find the Den Under the Red Eagle
When you get close to the truss area, do not continue directly toward the trusses. Instead, look for the path underneath the tiger scaffold.
Take the right-side route and stay close to the wall. Continue following this path until you reach an area with a red eagle.
Under the red eagle, you will find a hatch. Open the hatch to enter the hidden den where the three items from the secret cave need to be used.
Place the Items on the Plates
Inside the den, you will find several plates that are used for the final part of the puzzle. Place the three items you collected from the secret cave onto the plates in the required order.
The order matters, so make sure each item is placed on the correct plate before activating them. Once everything is positioned correctly, open or activate the plates.
If the puzzle has been completed correctly, the Glorb Axe will begin falling into the room.
Pick up the Glorb Axe and equip it. Doing so should award the secret R20 Glorb badge to the player who completed the puzzle.
Can Friends Get the Glorb Badge?
There is also a useful multiplayer feature for this puzzle. Players who are whitelisted and are inside the den when the Glorb Axe reward is triggered can also receive the badge.
This means you can complete the puzzle with friends instead of making everyone solve the entire sequence separately. If you are helping another player, make sure they are inside the den at the right time so they can receive the reward.
What Changed From the Original Puzzle?
The Glorb puzzle was considerably more complicated when it was first discovered. Players originally needed additional equipment and had to work through several difficult sections just to reach the skeleton.
The earlier version involved things such as a work light, a long plank, a sawmill, and dynamite. Some of these requirements also caused problems because parts of the event were buggy.
The current version has been changed to make the process much simpler. Trusses and a new path now make it easier to reach areas that previously required more complicated setups.
How the Original Glorb Puzzle Was Solved
The original puzzle required players to figure out what the Glorb color patterns meant. A skeleton in the R20 event hub provided a clue that pointed players toward finding another skeleton hidden elsewhere.
After obtaining the Glorb bags, players discovered that interacting with the Glorbs produced deterministic color sequences. The colors were then mapped into a larger pattern.
The different color strings could be arranged into six rows, eventually creating a piece of pixel art. After the sequences were mapped and combined, the result resembled an eye.
This clue connected to the Shrine of Sight puzzle, which required players to work with two eyes from the pixel-art clue. The solution involved placing the center pupil into the appropriate holes at the shrine.
The discovery process also had its own problem because the puzzle initially appeared to be broken. After trying different solutions, the players eventually joined another server and attempted the original solution again, which caused the puzzle to work.
Lumber Tycoon 2 Glorb Badge and Axe Summary
The current process is much shorter than the original version, but you still need to follow the correct order because the Glorb bag unlock is tied to your loaded slot. Here is the basic route:
- Load the slot you want to use.
- Sell Oak wood until you have more than 100 Lumber Bucks.
- Buy land from the Land Store.
- Sell the detached sold sign for additional money.
- Purchase a vehicle.
- Drive to the trusses in the corner of the map.
- Climb the trusses and find the hole in the rocks.
- Drop down and follow the cavern behind the ladder.
- Find and interact with the skeleton.
- Reload the same slot.
- Return to Wood R Us.
- Obtain Glorb bags from the original quest.
- Open the bags until you get the required Lavender Glorb.
- Press the correct Lavender Glorb and confirm that it turns Black.
- Continue the 16-interaction color sequence.
- Stop once you reach the correct Orange Glorb marked with the star.
- Take the Orange Glorb to the mountain path.
- Enter the secret tunnel.
- Turn on your vehicle headlights.
- Place the Orange Glorb into the correct hole.
- Enter the newly opened room.
- Collect all three items from the pedestals.
- Return to the mainland.
- Go underneath the tiger scaffold.
- Follow the right wall toward the red eagle.
- Open the hatch beneath the eagle.
- Place the three items onto the plates in the correct order.
- Activate the plates.
- Pick up and equip the Glorb Axe.
- Receive the secret R20 Glorb badge.
The R20 Glorb badge and Glorb Axe are tied to a hidden puzzle that originally required a lot more preparation than the current version. After the changes, getting to the skeleton and completing the Glorb sequence is much more manageable, especially if you already have a vehicle and progress from the original quest. Because event rewards can become unavailable after a limited-time event ends, players who want the badge and axe should complete the puzzle while the required content is still accessible.
