Shockwave is a Blood Demon Art in Slayers 2 with a moveset built around shockwaves, counters, mobility, and close-range combos. Unlike some other arts, unlocking it takes several steps because you first need to become a Demon before you can roll for the art or use its Orb. Once you finally obtain Shockwave, there is another training questline to complete. You also need to increase your Mastery and use the Skill Tree to unlock most of its moves. The final B move has an additional requirement because it comes from the Akaza Boss.
Step 1: Become a Demon
The first requirement for Shockwave is becoming a Demon. Blood Demon Arts are only available to Demon characters, so you cannot unlock Shockwave while playing as a human or Slayer.
To begin the process, lower your Reputation to around -40. After reaching this level, Muzan can appear during nighttime. Check areas around Mistfall Harbor and Hidden Mist when it is dark.
When you find Muzan, he will give you two quests that need to be completed:
- Spider Lily quest
- Doctor Higoshima quest
Finish both quests and Muzan will provide a blood potion. Drink the potion to become a Demon and unlock access to the Demon progression system.
Step 2: Get Shockwave in Slayers 2
After becoming a Demon, there are two main ways to obtain Shockwave. You can roll for the Blood Demon Art through Muzan’s Lair, or you can find a Shockwave Orb from certain Chests.
Neither method guarantees the art, so getting Shockwave may require some farming.
Method 1: Roll for Shockwave
Once you become a Demon, you can use the Biwa Bell to travel to Muzan’s location. This gives you access to the Blood Demon Art rolling system.
Shockwave is included in the Blood Demon Art pool. Each roll costs 3 Spins, so you will need to collect enough Spins if you plan to keep rolling until Shockwave appears.
There is no separate trainer that lets you simply purchase Shockwave. Rolling through the Blood Demon Art system is one of the primary ways to obtain it.
Method 2: Find the Shockwave Orb
The other option is finding a Shockwave Orb from a Chest. If you are lucky enough to get one, consume the Orb to begin the Shockwave Core Training questline.
The listed Chest drop rates are:
- Ice Chest — 2%
- Rare Chest — 2%
- Sealed Cache T1 — 2%
- Sealed Cache T2 — 2%
- Sealed Cache T3 — 2%
- World Events Chest — 2%
- Common Chest — 1%
- Lost Chest — 1%
- Snow Chest — 0.67%
The Orb is not guaranteed from any of these Chests, so you may need to open several before getting one.
Step 3: Complete the Shockwave Training Quest
Finding the Shockwave Orb does not immediately unlock the Blood Demon Art. After consuming the Orb, you need to complete a series of training tasks.
The required Shockwave training tasks are:
- Complete Push-ups at the Butterfly Estate gym.
- Complete Barbell Squats near the Butterfly Estate gym.
- Complete Boulder Push near Windy Peak.
- Complete Boulder Split near Windy Peak.
- Defeat two Mizunotos near the Shady Individual Rooyi NPC at Mistfall Harbor.
Complete every task to finish the Shockwave training questline.
There is one important thing to remember during this process: do not die. If your character dies before completing the questline, you lose the Shockwave Orb and the current progression. You will then need to find another Orb and start the process again.
Because of this, it is better to prepare your character before consuming the Orb. Make sure you have enough health, suitable equipment, and enough time to finish the tasks without taking unnecessary risks.
All Shockwave Moves in Slayers 2
Shockwave has six different moves, giving it options for ranged attacks, counters, mobility, combos, and area damage. Most of the abilities are unlocked through Mastery and the Skill Tree.
The exception is Annihilation Type, which requires a special drop from Akaza.
Z — Air Type
Air Type launches your character into the air with a backflip before sending a long-range shockwave toward the opponent.
If the attack connects, you can teleport directly to the target and continue with a series of strikes. This makes the move useful for closing the distance after hitting an enemy from range.
X — Compass Needle
Compass Needle begins with a ground stomp and activates a counter window. During this period, you can punish an opponent if they attempt to attack you.
When an enemy attacks during the counter window, your character teleports toward them and performs Crown Splitter. The attack launches the target into the air and can give you an opportunity to continue your combo.
X — Chaotic Afterglow
Chaotic Afterglow is an upgraded version of Compass Needle. After activating the ability, shockwaves spread out in multiple directions around your character.
You can hold the key to extend the attack and release it to trigger a larger finishing explosion. This gives the upgraded move more area coverage and allows you to keep pressure on nearby opponents.
C — Explosive Fury
Explosive Fury has two different versions depending on how you use the key.
Tapping the key performs a quick series of kicks, allowing you to launch the attack immediately. Holding the key instead charges the move before your character dashes forward with a stronger barrage.
The charged version has greater range and deals more damage, making it useful when you have enough space to prepare the attack.
V — Flashing Willow
Flashing Willow has both ground and aerial versions. On the ground, your character jumps upward before slamming back down and creating a shockwave followed by a larger burst.
The aerial version works differently. You grab the target and drill them into the ground before releasing another shockwave. This gives the ability different uses depending on your position during combat.
B — Annihilation Type
Annihilation Type is the final Shockwave move and requires more work to obtain. Your character lunges forward and fires two shockwaves from their palms.
If both shockwaves hit, the attack ends with a powerful blast that sends the opponent flying. At close range, it can also trigger a full cutscene-style animation.
Unlike the other moves, Annihilation Type is obtained from the Akaza Boss rather than simply unlocking it through the Skill Tree.
How to Get Annihilation Type From Akaza
To unlock the B move, you need to defeat Akaza and hope he drops Annihilation Type. The boss can be found in a cave northwest of Windy Peak Shrine.
Look for the area behind a wall near the Serpent trainee. Akaza is located inside this area, so you will need to reach the cave and find the boss before you can start farming the drop.
Akaza’s listed drops include:
- World Events Chest
- 1,000 XP
- 450 Wen
- Akaza’s Bottom — 5%
- Akaza’s Top — 5%
- Annihilation Type — 5%
Annihilation Type has a 5% drop chance, so obtaining it may take multiple Akaza defeats. The boss also drops his clothing pieces, which means you can continue farming him even after getting the Shockwave move.
How to Unlock Shockwave Moves
Getting the Blood Demon Art is only the beginning. Most of Shockwave’s moves require you to progress through its Skill Tree and reach the required Mastery levels.
Use Shockwave during actual combat to increase your Mastery while becoming familiar with how its abilities connect together. As you earn enough Skill Points and meet the required progression, more nodes in the Skill Tree become available.
For Annihilation Type, however, Skill Tree progression alone is not enough. You must defeat Akaza and obtain the move as a boss drop.
Best Shockwave Progression Order
If you want to unlock the entire Shockwave moveset without wasting time, following a simple progression path can make the process easier.
- Become a Demon — Lower your Reputation and complete Muzan’s requirements.
- Obtain Shockwave — Roll for the Blood Demon Art or find a Shockwave Orb from a Chest.
- Complete the training quest — Finish Push-ups, Barbell Squats, Boulder Push, Boulder Split, and the two Mizunoto defeats.
- Farm Akaza — Defeat Akaza repeatedly until Annihilation Type drops.
- Build Mastery — Continue using Shockwave during fights to increase your Mastery.
- Unlock the Skill Tree — Spend Skill Points on the available Shockwave abilities as you meet their requirements.
- Practice the combos — Learn when to use the counter, tracking attacks, movement skills, and charged abilities.
Shockwave takes more preparation to unlock than many other Blood Demon Arts in Slayers 2. You first need to become a Demon, then obtain the art through rolling or a Shockwave Orb before completing its special training questline.
Once the Blood Demon Art is unlocked, the progression continues through Mastery and the Skill Tree. The final Annihilation Type move adds another farming step because it requires a 5% drop from Akaza. With all six abilities unlocked, Shockwave provides a mix of ranged attacks, counters, movement, combos, and powerful finishing attacks.
