Command an Army has received a major update with a lot of new content for players to explore. The update adds five new units, a free Battle Pass, a new Skill Tree system, new evolutions, fresh codes, and changes to how players can improve their units.

The update also introduces some very rare units, with certain banner characters having extremely low summon rates. With so much added at once, there are plenty of things to check before spending all of your Gems and resources.

New Command an Army Codes

Before spending resources on summons or upgrades, make sure to redeem the available codes. The update includes several codes that provide useful rewards, including Skill Crystals. The codes mentioned with the update are:

  • OCTOBER3
  • SATURDAY
  • SKILLTREE
  • MONGOLS
  • UPDATE3
  • LAESTRYGONIAN

The exact reward can vary between codes, with SKILLTREE providing 5 Skill Crystals. These crystals are important for the new Skill Tree system, so they can be especially useful for players who want to start upgrading their units. Make sure to enter the codes exactly as provided in the game’s code menu.

New Skill Tree System

One of the biggest additions in this update is the Skill Tree. Each unit can now have its own Skill Tree, allowing players to invest resources into additional upgrades.

Skill Crystals are required to unlock nodes, and they are not simply obtained from regular matches. The available methods mentioned include:

  • Quests
  • Daily rewards
  • Ranked Wings

Because Skill Crystals are limited, players should think carefully before spending them. The first upgrades can already require several crystals, while later nodes become more expensive.

The Skill Tree also appears to take the place of some of the trait-style mechanics that were previously expected for units. Certain bonuses that players might have considered traits are now connected to this upgrade system.

Skill Reset Costs 5,000 Gems

There is an important detail to remember before investing in a Skill Tree. Resetting your skills costs 5,000 Gems.

That is a large amount compared with the normal cost of making smaller upgrades, so players should avoid spending Skill Crystals randomly. It is better to have an idea of which direction you want to take a unit before committing resources.

Since Skill Crystals are not freely earned from every normal match, wasting them can also slow down your progress.

Free Battle Pass

Command an Army has also added a Battle Pass, but there is an interesting difference compared with many other games. The Battle Pass appears to be free rather than requiring a separate premium purchase.

Players progress through the Battle Pass by completing quests. Instead of simply earning XP and automatically moving through the tiers, each level is tied to a specific quest that needs to be completed.

There are 50 tiers in total, meaning players need to work through 50 quests to complete the full Battle Pass.

Battle Pass Unit Rewards

Several new units are included as Battle Pass rewards. One of the featured units has a particularly large design and a noticeable aura, making it stand out from many of the existing units.

Players can also receive duplicates of some units as they progress through the Battle Pass. Another new character shown in the rewards has a mounted design, with Caval appearing as an archer-type unit.

Completing the entire Battle Pass can also provide enough duplicates to increase the featured units further, making the free pass useful for players who are willing to complete its quests.

Five New Units

The update introduces five new units, although not all of them are immediately easy to obtain. A major part of the new roster is connected to the Battle Pass, while other units can appear through summoning.

One of the rarest units shown during testing had an extremely low 0.21% summon chance. This makes obtaining certain characters heavily dependent on luck unless players are willing to spend a large amount of resources.

The update therefore gives players two different ways to expand their collection:

  • Progress through the free Battle Pass.
  • Use Gems to summon units from banners.

Players should check the current banner before spending their Gems because not every new unit is available through summoning.

New Unit Evolutions

The update also brings new evolutions for existing units. Mace and Pikeman are among the units receiving new forms.

Mace’s new evolution gives the unit a much different appearance and adds another option for players who already use the character. However, some displayed stats can look unusual after evolution, so players should check the complete unit details rather than assuming every number will increase.

Pikeman also receives a new evolution featuring a shield. The evolved version reaches Level 6 and has changes to its range and rush-related stats.

The shield gives Pikeman another defensive feature and could make the unit more useful in certain team setups.

Miridon Unit

One of the rare units obtained during the testing was Miridon Fido. The unit has a distinctive design and uses different formations when deployed.

Players can choose between formations such as:

  • Arrow formation
  • U-shaped formation
  • Straight-line formation

These formations change how the unit’s forces are arranged, giving players more control over how they approach battles.

Miridon Fido does not appear to have an evolution at the time of the testing, so players should not expect another transformation from this unit.

Miridon Fido Stats

The unit tested in the update had the following displayed stats:

  • Speed: 120
  • Damage: 700
  • HP: 700
  • Placement limit: 9

The unit is also quite large compared with some other characters, making it easy to spot on the battlefield.

Its high damage and HP allow it to deal with groups of enemies effectively. During testing, several enemies were defeated quickly after the unit was ordered to attack.

Testing the New Unit in Battle

Miridon Fido was tested in an actual match to see how well it performs outside of the unit menu. The unit was able to deal heavy damage and quickly clear groups of enemies once it reached them.

However, positioning still matters. The unit’s forces can move relatively slowly, so sending them too far forward without support can leave them vulnerable.

A balanced formation is therefore important. Instead of immediately sending the unit alone toward the enemy, players should consider how it works alongside the rest of their army.

Summoning Can Get Expensive

The new units are not all easy to obtain. The extremely low summon rate shown for one of the new characters means players could spend a significant number of Gems before getting the unit they want.

There is also a skip option for summons, but repeated skips can quickly become expensive. Five skips were shown costing 121 Gems during the testing. Because of this, it is worth saving Gems rather than spending them immediately on every available summon.

Players who are specifically trying to collect the new units should also check whether the desired character is actually available in the current banner before spending anything.

How to Progress Through the Update

With the number of new systems added, players can make better progress by dealing with the update in a specific order. A simple approach is:

  1. Redeem all available codes.
  2. Collect the Skill Crystals from the rewards.
  3. Check the new Skill Tree for your main units.
  4. Avoid resetting skills unless necessary because of the 5,000 Gem cost.
  5. Open the Battle Pass and check its quests.
  6. Complete Battle Pass quests to unlock the free rewards.
  7. Check the new unit banners.
  8. Save Gems for units you actually want.
  9. Check the new Mace and Pikeman evolutions.
  10. Test new units before building your team around them.

This lets players explore the update without immediately spending all of their resources.

The latest Command an Army update adds a lot more than just new units. The free Battle Pass gives players 50 quests to complete, while the Skill Tree provides another way to improve individual units. New evolutions for Mace and Pikeman also give older characters additional forms to work toward.

The biggest challenge will be collecting the rare new units, especially those with very low summon rates. Players should therefore use the free rewards and codes first before spending large amounts of Gems. With five new units, a Skill Tree, Battle Pass, evolutions, and new codes, this update gives Command an Army players plenty of reasons to return and start working through the new content.
