Stigmas are an important part of character progression in AION 2. Reaching a higher level is only one part of making your character stronger, as the right Stigma skills can greatly improve your combat performance. These skills can affect how you deal damage, survive fights, and build your character for different types of content.

Stigmas are especially useful when you start focusing on harder PvE content or PvP. Since each class can use different Stigma skills, learning how the system works will help you decide which abilities fit your build and when to unlock additional slots.

What Are Stigmas in AION 2?

Stigmas are powerful skills that can be used by every class in AION 2. Unlike normal class skills, Stigmas can have a much bigger effect on how a character is played. The right Stigma can become an important part of your build and change how you approach combat.

Because of this, you should not only focus on unlocking Stigmas. It is also important to understand which skills work well with your current setup. A Stigma that works well for a PvE build may not always be the best choice for PvP.

Stigmas can also be upgraded, giving you another way to improve your character as you progress. Since you can change your Stigmas without paying a respec cost, there is room to experiment with different combinations.

How to Unlock Stigma Slots in AION 2

Stigmas are not available from the beginning of the game. You first need to reach Level 22 and complete the Ascension quest called “The One Who Hears the Voice.” Once you meet these requirements, you can start using Stigma Shards to unlock Stigmas for your class.

You can access the Stigma system through the Skills menu. After unlocking the feature, you will initially have access to one Stigma slot. Additional slots become available as your character reaches higher levels. The Stigma slot progression is:

  • Level 22 — First Stigma Slot
  • Level 27 — Second Stigma Slot
  • Level 32 — Third Stigma Slot
  • Level 37 — Fourth Stigma Slot

The Global version of AION 2 currently allows players to equip up to four Stigmas at once. Some other versions of the game allow up to six Stigmas at max level, but that limit does not currently apply to the Global version.

Can You Change Stigmas in AION 2?

You can refund Stigmas for free, so changing your setup does not require you to spend resources on a traditional respec. This makes it much easier to test different Stigma skills and find combinations that work with your build.

It is a useful system if you regularly switch between PvE and PvP. Instead of keeping the same Stigmas for every situation, you can create different skill presets and quickly change between them. Manually changing several skills every time you switch content can take a lot of time, so presets are a better option.

How to Get Stigma Shards

Stigma Shards are an important resource because they are used to unlock and level up Stigmas. There are several ways to collect them, although some sources only become available after reaching the game’s maximum level.

The main sources include the Shugo Festival, Nightmare Trade Shop, and Abyss Trade Shop. Each option has its own currency and purchase limits, so using more than one source is the best way to build up your Stigma Shard supply.

Shugo Festival Stigma Shards

The Shugo Festival is one of the earlier ways to get Stigma Shards. You can purchase up to 35 Stigma Shards per character from the festival shop.

Each Stigma Shard costs 300 Shugo Coins. You can earn Shugo Coins by taking part in the Shugo Festival minigames when the event becomes available.

Because there is a character limit on how many Stigma Shards you can purchase from this source, make sure to check the shop whenever the festival appears. It can be a useful way to slowly build your collection without relying entirely on endgame activities.

Nightmare Trade Shop

The Nightmare Trade Shop becomes available when your character reaches the maximum level of 45. This shop uses Phantasmal Fragments, which can be earned by playing the Nightmare game mode.

You can purchase up to 35 Stigma Shards per character through this shop. Each one costs 1,500 Phantasmal Fragments.

This makes Nightmare a useful activity for players who want to continue collecting Stigma Shards after reaching Level 45. If you regularly play the mode, you can work toward the required fragments and use them for Stigma progression.

Abyss Trade Shop Stigma Shards

The Abyss Trade Shop also unlocks at Level 45 and provides a much larger number of Stigma Shards. You can purchase up to 200 Stigma Shards per character, although the price increases as you buy more.

The Stigma Shard prices are divided into four groups:

  • First 50 Stigma Shards — 10,000 Abyss Points each
  • Next 50 Stigma Shards — 15,000 Abyss Points each
  • Next 50 Stigma Shards — 20,000 Abyss Points each
  • Final 50 Stigma Shards — 25,000 Abyss Points each

This means you will need a large amount of Abyss Points if you want to purchase all 200 Stigma Shards. It is worth planning your Abyss Point spending instead of using the currency without checking the available rewards.

How to Farm Abyss Points

There are several activities that can reward Abyss Points in AION 2. Players can take part in Abyss PvP, Supply Requests, the Arena, Sealed Dungeons, Strongholds, and Dimensional Invasions.

Limited-time events can also provide opportunities to earn more Abyss Points. Since the Abyss Trade Shop becomes one of the biggest sources of Stigma Shards at Level 45, regularly taking part in these activities can help you save enough points for the higher-cost purchases.

Best Way to Progress Your Stigmas

For early progression, focus on unlocking your first Stigma after reaching Level 22 and completing the required Ascension quest. As you level up, additional slots will become available at Levels 27, 32, and 37.

Once you reach Level 45, you can start using the Nightmare and Abyss Trade Shops for additional Stigma Shards. Try to collect resources from different activities instead of relying on only one source. Since Stigmas can be refunded for free, you can also test different skills before deciding which ones fit your main build. For players who regularly switch between PvE and PvP, keeping separate presets is also recommended. This lets you change your setup quickly without manually replacing every Stigma each time.
