Choosing the right units in Candy Kingdom Defense can make a big difference when fighting enemy waves. Some characters deal huge area damage, while others can slow enemies down or summon additional units to help defend the field.
In this guide, we will look at some of the strongest units based on their performance in gameplay, including evolved Princess Bubblegum, King Jake, Lich, Finn, and Lemongrab. We will also explain how to get Lich and evolve your characters.
Keep in mind that this tier list is based on the gameplay shown in the source material. Not every unit was tested, so some placements may change depending on your traits, upgrades, and team setup.
Candy Kingdom Defense Tier List
S Tier – Best Units
Evolved Princess Bubblegum
Evolved Princess Bubblegum is one of the strongest units featured in the gameplay. Her attacks can transform enemies, making them much easier to deal with. She also performs well against large groups, making her a useful choice for defending against waves of enemies.
King Jake
King Jake has a large area of effect (AoE), allowing him to attack multiple enemies at once. His attack range covers a wide section of the field, and his damage output makes him a strong option for handling groups of enemies.
He becomes even more effective when fully upgraded with strong traits. If you need a unit that can cover a large area, King Jake is worth considering.
Lich
Lich is another powerful unit, especially when upgraded. His attacks can emerge from the ground and grab or bite enemies. His later upgrades also improve his damage and abilities.
Lich stands out because of his AoE damage, which can help clear groups of enemies before they reach your defense line. His evolved form also has a distinctive appearance.
A Tier – Strong Units
Finn
Finn performs better than expected and can deal with groups of enemies effectively. Although he might not seem like an obvious top-tier choice at first, his performance in the gameplay suggests that he is a strong unit to consider.
Lemongrab
Lemongrab deserves a higher placement than C Tier because of his ability to summon lemons that attack enemies. His evolved form summons stronger lemons, which can deal damage and briefly stun targets.
The summoned lemons provide additional attacks, while the trails created by his ability allow them to emerge from the ground. This gives Lemongrab extra utility beyond his regular attacks.
B Tier – Situational Units
Rainicorn
Rainicorn has high damage potential, but its area coverage appears more limited than that of units like King Jake and Lich. It can still be useful against enemies, but it may not perform as well when dealing with large groups.
Its effectiveness depends on the enemies you face and the upgrades you have unlocked.
Magic Man’s Evolved Form
Magic Man’s evolved form can deal significant damage, but its performance is less consistent when compared with some of the strongest evolved units.
In the gameplay demonstration, the unit dealt around 200,000 damage at maximum upgrades, with an attack cooldown of approximately 4.7 seconds. However, some enemies were still able to get past the defense, suggesting that its attack coverage may be a weakness.
Its ability to slow or stun enemies can still help, but it may need support from other units to handle large waves.
C Tier – Units to Use With Caution
Billy
Billy can deal high damage when fully upgraded, but his attack speed and area coverage are drawbacks. The gameplay showed that his attacks could take several seconds between uses, allowing some enemies to slip past him.
Although his damage numbers look impressive, damage alone does not always make a unit effective. His performance against groups appears weaker than that of units with better AoE attacks.
Blue
Blue was not recommended in the gameplay demonstration. However, the source material does not provide enough detailed testing to determine his exact ranking compared with every other unit.
Consider using other available characters until you have a better understanding of his abilities and performance.
How to Get Lich in Candy Kingdom Defense
Lich can be obtained through the portal that appears in Infinite Mode.
Here is how the process works:
- Enter Infinite Mode and begin clearing enemy waves.
- Every 10 waves, there is a 30% chance for the portal to appear.
- When the portal spawns, use it for a chance to obtain Lich.
- The chance of getting Lich from the portal is 5%.
Since both the portal spawn and Lich reward depend on chance, you may need to complete multiple waves before getting the unit.
Once you obtain Lich, upgrade him to improve his damage and abilities. His later upgrades make his attacks more effective against groups of enemies.
How to Evolve Units in Candy Kingdom Defense
Some characters have evolved forms that improve their abilities and overall performance. To evolve a unit, you need to complete the required challenges and collect the necessary materials.
Follow these steps:
- Open the challenges and look for tasks that reward evolution materials.
- Complete the required challenges to collect the items you need.
- Visit the Entridian NPC or evolution area.
- Select the unit you want to evolve.
- Check its requirements and collect any missing materials.
- Complete the evolution once you have everything required.
The game shows the materials needed for each available evolution. For example, evolving Jake requires Sandwiches, which can be obtained by completing the specified activity in the Ice Kingdom.
You can select the option to travel to the required location directly from the evolution menu, making it easier to find the items you need.
If a character does not appear in the evolution menu, it may not have an evolution available yet.
Tips for Choosing the Best Units
Building a strong team is not just about picking characters with high damage. You should also consider how well they perform against groups of enemies.
- Prioritize AoE damage: Units like King Jake, Lich, and evolved Princess Bubblegum can attack multiple enemies, making them useful against large waves.
- Look for crowd control: Units that slow, stun, or transform enemies can give your other characters more time to attack.
- Upgrade your strongest units: Higher upgrades improve damage and may strengthen a unit’s abilities.
- Use suitable traits: Good traits can make a strong character even more effective, particularly when pushing through harder waves.
- Check evolution requirements: Evolved forms can provide stronger attacks or additional effects, so complete the necessary challenges when possible.
Evolved Princess Bubblegum, King Jake, and Lich stand out as some of the strongest units featured in the Candy Kingdom Defense gameplay. Finn and Lemongrab are also worth considering, while Rainicorn and Magic Man’s evolved form may depend more on your setup. Billy appears less effective in the demonstrated gameplay because of his attack speed and area coverage.
This ranking is not a definitive list of every unit, since not all characters were tested under the same conditions. Your results may vary depending on upgrades, traits, and the enemies you encounter. Focus on collecting strong units, completing evolution challenges, and improving your best characters to build a defense that can handle tougher waves.
