Sales Figures of Apple Watch Will Be Hidden Tonight, Here’s Where You Should Look
Apple Watch sales will be covered under the category “Other”. Within hours attending the conference about financial results for the third quarter of Apple. Analysts and industry experts expect another quarter of record by the Cupertino company, returning to exceed the estimates conducted by the company itself for the ninth consecutive quarter. However, we should not expect Apple to unveil sales figures of Apple Watch tonight, at least not in the way it does with the iPhone and iPad.
The company already announced a few months that initially would show sales of Apple Watch as a single product category, but included within the “Other” category ago. The company has always pursued this strategy with its new products, so it is not aware of a possible failure in camouflage watch sales, but not give too much information to competitors.
The category “Other” consists of various products and services that are among iPod, Apple TV, Beats Electronics and sale of official accessories. Although Apple will keep quiet about the final number of sold units during these three months, there is a more or less reliable way of knowing how many Apple Watch have been sold in all this time.
During the last four quarters, revenue from “Other” category have fallen by 6%. With this we know that, without the Apple Watch, revenues from this category will be among the 1,600 and 1,700 million dollars tonight, any figure above these numbers will be due to Apple Watch. Given that the watch is sold at an average price of between 500 and 700 dollars, this means that over 1,000 million over the figure given will result in about 2 or 3 million units of Apple Watch.
Each additional 1,000 million in the category “Other” will result in 2 to 3 million sold Apple Watch
Of course, this is not an exact science and it will be difficult to obtain as accurate as it gives Apple for other product categories, but it will be a very approximate number that reflects the sales performance of the device over the last three months number. Of course, you could always take a turn of events and that Tim Cook unveiled the final number of sales of Apple Watch, although it is unlikely.
As Tim Cook put it: “We feel really great about how we did […] Our objective wasn’t primarily sales. Beyond the very good news on sales, we’re very proud of how the product is positioned for the long term.”
