Xiaomi latest budget friendly phone, the Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+, are finally making their way to India. Originally unveiled in March, the Redmi A2 series will be launching in India on May 19th at 11AM local time. The announcement was made via a Twitter teaser by Redmi, which hinted at the launch of the Redmi A2 series.

While the company has not explicitly mentioned the Redmi A2 or A2+ in their announcement, the use of the word “series” and the inclusion of the Redmi A2+ image on Xiaomi India’s official website confirm the launch of both devices. The Redmi A2 and A2+ are virtually identical, with the latter featuring a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Both devices are powered by the Helio G36 SoC and boast 6.52″ HD+ LCDs with 5,000mAh batteries. They also feature 8MP primary cameras on the rear, with depth units, and 5MP sensors on the front for selfies. The Redmi A2 and A2+ run Android 12 (Go Edition) out of the box, but the Indian units will come pre-installed with Android 13.
